Chapter 30

Lilly

Just as we pull up to the clubhouse I get that feeling again. The one where the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. And you get queasy. Yea, I feel like someone is watching me. Just as we park I call out to Goof. “Mr. Goof, I have got that feeling again.” I feel him lean forward. “ Are you sure?” he asks. I just nod. “ Tank, you need to take Lilly to Viper. He will explain. I’m going to have a look around.” Goof says. “ What’s going on?” Tank asks. I try to reach out for Tank’s hand. He must see what I’m trying to do because he takes my hand. “ Tank, I promise I will have Mr. Viper explain everything to you. But you have to get me inside right now.” I don’t know why he didn’t question me but I’m happy he didn’t. Maybe he trusts me. I don’t know. And now is not the time to try to figure it out. I need to see Viper.

I hear the car door open then the crunching of gravel. My door is yanked open next. “ Lilly, since we are in a rush I’m going to carry you.” Before I can answer he is lifting me up and out of the car. I feel him run up the ramp and open the door. Once inside Tank doesn’t waste any time going to Viper’s office. When we are given the go ahead to enter, Tank sits in a chair. “ What's going on? Are you ok, Lilly?” Viper asks. I can hear the concern in his voice. Before I can answer Tank says “ Goof told me to bring Lilly to you and you would explain. Said he was going to look around. Someone want to tell me what the hell is going on?” I know he is getting angry. Tank has been left in the dark for a while now.

“ I felt it gain, Mr. Viper.” I tell him so he will understand. “ When?” he asks. “ Just before we hit the gates.” Silence for a minute then “ Brick, check the cameras around the club and street.” Viper must be on the phone.Tank yells” Will one of you tell me what the hell is going on?” Viper tells Tank everything that has happened to me. The notes. The busted windows. The stalking. My guard detail. All of it.

“ So that's what all those meetings were about. Why wasn’t I told? I could have helped.” Tank is beyond pissed at this point. I answered this time “ Because I thought it was you or one of your bunnies doing this as a way to run me off.” I hear a thump that sounds like Tank fell into the chair next to me. He grabs my hand giving a gentle squeeze. “ Lilly, I know I have been horrible to you in the past. I own that, But I would never go so far as to hurt you. I couldn’t do that.”

“ I’m sorry and I know that now. But when this started I wasn’t sure who to trust. And given how you were acting. I just couldn’t take a chance.” I told him. At the time I really thought he could be behind this. Or at least helping. “ I had to agree with Lilly at the time. Until we got to the bottom of this several people in the club were suspects. That being said and given Tank’s turn around I can safely say. I think it is time to include him, Lilly. I know he isn’t involved in this.” I nod “ Yea. I agree. But I’m still concerned about those bunnies.” “ And we are still weeding them out. If they are the ones doing it I believe they could be feeding information to who is. So what we say can’t leave this office Tank. Only the ones on Lilly’s protection detail know. I’m assuming you want in on it Tank?” Viper says. “ Hell , yes I do.”

“ Lilly, I want to add Tank to your protection crew if you are ok with that.” Viper says. I go to answer but end up yawning instead. “ I don’t mind. Mr. Tank has talked with me and he apologized for his past behavior towards me. I feel he is sincere. And I kind of like having the old Mr. Tank around.” I say ending with another yawn. “ Tank, take her to bed. I’ll have Anna bring her snack. Make sure she eats it. Then come talk to me and we will update you on everything when I hear back from Goof and Brick. Lilly, I will see you at dinner.” Viper says.Yawning I say “ See you soon Mr. Viper. Thank you.”

Tank lifts me up and I hear Viper grumble “ One of these days you are going to stop calling me mister.” I giggle at that. We leave the office and go upstairs. We get close to my room and I hear and smell a bunny. They wear enough perfume to choke a moose. “ Tanky, you are going to throw your back out carrying that cow. Drop it before you get hurt. Then come with me I will massage all those sore muscles.” “ She is right Mr. Tank. You should put me down. I can walk from here.” As much I try to ignore their hateful words. It still hurts. Tank growls. Like a dog he growls. It shouldn’t be sexy but it is.Sexy enough for my body to feel hot suddenly. Tank pulls me closer to him. “ Brit I will warn you this one time. Shut your fucking mouth. You will never speak about Lilly like that again. And you won’t tell me what to do either. You are a whore nothing more. You don’t get to act like you can give orders. If I want to carry Lilly all around all day I will.” Tanks walks off before she can answer. I would love to see the look on her face. I have to bury my face in Tank’s chest to hide my laughing.
