Chapter 71

Tank

Hearing Lilly describe everything she could see was one of the greatest joys in my life. After I kissed her I sat beside so the doctor could talk to us. “ Lilly, your vision improvement is better than I expected. While you are still legally blind and will still need Harley to help you out your life will be dramatically improved. I will give you a prescription for eye drops but after a few days I doubt you will need them. With your support group here I see no reason to keep you here. Remember to rest your eyes as often as possible and don’t strain to see for a few days. I want to see you in two weeks for a check up. But other than that I will get your discharge papers ready.” He and Silvey leave the room. I let go of Lilly letting my brothers hug her. I tell her I am going to be right back and go find the doctor. I see him and Silvey at the nurses desk. “ Hey Doc.” I say to get his attention. He turns to me “ Mr. Tank. Did you have a question?”

“ No Doc. Nothing like that. I just wanted to thank you for everything you have done for Lilly.” I nodded toward Silvey “ Both of you. If there is anything I can do for you just ask.” He taps his chin “ Now that you mention it there is one thing you might be able to help me with. Actually two things.” “ I’ll do what I can to make it happen. What do you need?” “ First I need some cover up work done and I have heard you are the man to go to.” I take a card out of my wallet and hand it to him “ Take this. I will do the work myself and free of charge. So what is the next thing?” He laughs “ You might regret the free of charge thing when you see it. The other thing is how about a seat in the VIP section to Lilly’s next three concerts.”

Silvey chimes in “ I could use a seat in the VIP section as well but for the next four concerts.” If that was all they wanted I would make sure they get it for as long as they want. “ Deal.” Silvey jumps up excited then goes back to work. I shake my head at her silliness and go back in the room to help Lilly get ready to go. When I get there I hear Lug Nut and Lilly talking. “ No, Lilly. Not today. Maybe tomorrow.” he says. Lilly puts her best pouty face “ Please.” Lug shakes his head no. “ What’s going on?” I ask. “ Lilly wants me to get the band to come over. And she wants to see her guitar. I told her to rest today and we might come over tomorrow. She has had enough excitement in the past couple of days she needs some down time.”

“ Lilly, sweetheart. Lug is right. You need rest. Maybe the guys can come over tomorrow. Today I am going to keep you all to myself. I’m sure I can come up with something to keep you busy.” Lilly blushes but looks at me and says “ I’m holding you to that. Now that I can see better I need to look over every inch of you.” Viper clears his throat “ On that note we are leaving.” He kisses Lilly on the top of her head. “ We will see you later.” They all leave but not before giving Lilly a good-bye kiss.

After I helped Lilly get dressed. Not that she needed help, I just wanted to. Any excuse to put my hands on her you know. The doctor came in with her release papers. I thanked him again and we left. I was taking my girl home and I did have plans to keep her busy. And I could tell she had some plans for me as well. And I could wait.
