CHAPTER 37: STONE GAMBLING
K had finally decided on how to raise the money that was needed by Triumph. She remembered the herbs she had gathered back in the mountain, so she got busy with selling those and only kept two ginseng roots for her to make soup and wine to drink later.
Because the herbs were full of vitality they sold pretty well. She earned quite a huge amount from all of them.
The money however wasn’t enough to settle what was needed, so she decided that it was time for her to use her jade eyes and make some money from stone gambling.
K put on her disguise and made herself more mature and unrecognizable just in case she meets a familiar individual. The world was very small and these rich people really liked visiting places like the antique market and jade market. It was a place that could make you very rich or very broke in just seconds.
K felt excited as she went into the first shop, there were no customers at all which made her ponder what was happening but that didn’t stop her from taking a trolley, and began to push it around as she assesses the energy in the shop.
The energy was low but there was a certain heap of stones where the energy was being highly emitted. She quickened her pace and stopped right in front of the heap of stones.
“Dear customer, these stones are the cheapest and it is very difficult to find some jade in them. How about you move to the other heaps?” the old man whom she saw when she got into the shop suggested.
She could tell that he had no malice towards her, he was just trying to help her. Maybe something went wrong with the stones and earned this shop a bad reputation and now he was being careful. Life was truly hard.
“Thank you for the suggestion but trust me in this. I am going to make your shop very famous that those people who were thinking of stomping on you will regret,” she said with a smile.
The old man could see the confidence in the young woman’s voice and something deep inside him assured him that he should trust her and so he did.
“I will believe you then,” he said and returned to the counter.
K first picked a number of stones that emitted high dense energy into her trolley from the cheap heap of stones before she began to collect other stones from the other heaps. She didn’t pick every stone that had jade in it. If she did so then she will simply lead the shop to its demise. At least some people should find some jade for the shop to be popular.
In order to cover her ability, she also picked some stones with nothing inside. She ended up picking up ten stones and six of them had jade in them. She just didn’t know which grade or quality it will be.
She paid for the stones she bought and parted with a million in cash. This was just nothing as she knew how jade cost once people begin to bid for it.
Because of her crazy purchase, this attracted a number of people to the shop and most of them were actually laughing at her and mocking her for being blind to the extent of wasting her money buying waste materials from a shop like this one.
Didn’t people learnt that one should not look down on others especially when one didn’t have all the facts?
“It’s my money and I have the right to use it as I like,” K simply threw a remark at those that were mocking her making them increase their rage.
This is exactly what she wanted, the more they act like this the more this shop will be popular once the stones show what she wanted.
“She is so arrogant, soon she will be crying after wasting so much money.”
“Let’s see about it.”
“How about we bet?” another young man spoke as he looked at her with disdain.
K frowned as she looked at this arrogant young man. She didn’t even know him and yet he was provoking her.
“Why should I bet with you?”
“Are you scared of losing?”
“I don’t fear hell or heavens, so why should I fear a simple bet? I am just afraid that you won’t have the guts to accept it when you lose.”
“What do you want?”
“If I get the jade in half of the stones that I bought then you should give me ten million dollars and if I lose then I will do the same. Do you dare?”
“Who does she think she is? Five stones with jade from this shop, humph she just wants to spend her money!”
“What are you afraid of, just bet?”
“Since you are so confident of yourself how about we make it twenty to make it interesting?” the young man increase the bet and K immediately smiled.
She wasn’t one to reject free money after all.
“Deal, let everyone be the witness then,” K said as she looked at the group of people that had gathered wanting to see the show.
The old man was now worried about the young woman, he was used to people looking down on him but this young woman didn’t do anything wrong.
“Grandpa, can you please cut my stones?”
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, I am,” she agreed with a smile pasted on her face.
K took her stones and began to draw some lines on them. Those that saw her could see that she looked like a professional. She only knew theory as she read a lot of books from her bookstore.
In order to make it interesting, she gave the old man a waste stone to cut. She needed to hype things up and make these people be arrogant enough so that when she face-slaps them, they will learn a lesson.
So, the first stone was cut and nothing was found. She didn’t show any sign of regret at all but looked at the old man with an assuring face and gave him the second stone which was also a waste.
“Hahahaha, this is the funniest thing I have ever seen. Is this what you promised us? You should have just stopped being arrogant and begged for forgiveness. I guess you should start preparing my money,” the young man arrogantly spoke while flaunting his air.
The people surrounding them were looking at K with disdain once more. Some felt pity for her and the old man didn’t look, so she decided to give the old man some hope and gave him a stone full of energy.
“Just cut the stones, you don’t have to worry, and believe me,” she smiled at the old man.
Seeing that her attitude didn’t change, he felt better and continued to cut the stone however someone didn’t feel good after being ignored and seen as air.
“I will make sure to make you kowtow and crawl between my legs when you lose!” he harrumphed at her but K simply raised the corner of her lips and looked at her stone.
“Look that is a window!” someone exclaimed as the color green showed on the stone.
The old man’s hands trembled as he kept on cutting. He felt very excited as he saw that this stone might carry jade. He had forgotten how long it had been since his shop cut a jade.
“That might be a false call, just wait and see,” the young man said but he didn’t feel good at all.
Now everyone was waiting to see the outcome and minutes later the answer lay in front of everyone to see.
“That is the oil green type, it is really jade!”
“Yes, it is.”
“Don’t be conceited, it is just the first one. The best was for five.”
“I don’t care about that; I want that jade. I can give you two million!” another man shouted and this began a price war and, in the end, the first jade was sold for six million.
K smiled as she looked at the balance in her bank account. Money was rolling in and this stone was the lowest, what will happen when she cut the high grade one?
