Chapter 24
I was now sitting in front of the mirror while Sandra was busy fixing me. We're in her room with Avalie. Avalie seemed mesmerized, because she was still stunned when we entered earlier. And why? Vandel just opened the door for her.
"Close your eyes, Meliora." Sandra commanded.
I followed it and closed my eyes. She put some eye makeup on it. I said to her a while ago, just make it simple. I don't want to be a shepherd in front of them. So she didn't use any foundation on my face, just eye makeup, blush, light contour, powder, and lipstick.
"I'm done. Why are your eyelashes so long? Hmp! "
"Hey Avalie, sit there!" she added.
Avalie came to her senses and quickly sat by my side.
We'll do your hair after. "Get dressed first, Meli," she said to me. I nodded and entered her big closet. because that's where our clothes are hung, and there's a big dressing room.
I slowly put on the ball gown because the sleeves are lace, so I have to be careful. When I already wore it, I instantly faced the mirror. My eyes widened. This is not me. The gown was perfect for me, as if it was made just for me to wear. It is stunning yet simple. The color of my skin is very obvious because it is black.
I also went out afterwards. When I closed the door, I looked at Avalie and Sandra, but they were looking at me dumbfounded.
My forehead furrowed. "Why?"
"You look stunning!" the two said at the same time.
I was shocked by the reaction of the two. I chose to sit in the empty seat while Sandra was busy fixing Avalie.
The Princess and others had already arrived.I didn't know what time it would begin, but Sandra said it was fine if we were late.
After a couple of minutes, Avalie was done. She looks stunning, even more so. Only light make-up was done on her, so she looked even more beautiful. They entered Sandra's closet together to get dressed.
"Both of you look beautiful." I said softly as they walked out the door.
It is true.
They raised their eyebrows at the same time.
"We are all beautiful!"
The two said it together. I silently smiled.
Sandra immediately clapped. "Sit here, Meliora; we'll do your hair."
I sat in front of the mirror and carefully looked at what she was doing. She curled my hair loosely and put it on my back.
I smile; it suits me well. I prefer my hair loose rather than in a ponytail.
She then followed Avalie. She buns Avalie's hair and leaves some strands that make it more dramatic. Avalie's eyes glistened as she clapped while facing the mirror.
"Omg! I'm beautiful!" she said in amazement.
Sandra just rolls her eyes.
"Sit over there. I'm just going to do my hair. " Sandra told us.
She looked in the mirror and carefully arranged his hair. It's really good that she knows something about this because I don't know what I'll do if she's not here.
"Let's go!" Sandra said loudly to us.
We stood up and slowly went out and down the stairs.
"Where are the rest of the elite?" Avalie asked.
"They're already there; we're just really late!" Sandra answered, laughing.
"Hey, we might not be able to get in!" Avalie said hysterically.
Sandra hit her, "Hey! We're here! "
"Yes, you are elite!" she said, pouting.
I was walking quietly while the two were chatting. I'm pretty sure the King and the Queen are here. Who is not there when it is their child's birthday? But I really wonder about the Queen, the new queen to be exact. I have never seen her before and today is the first.
What if she criticizes me? Maybe she will scold me like the King did because of what happened to Kara. It's not that I'm afraid, but I want this day to be as peaceful and special as Kara's.
"Hey, what are you thinking?" Sandra suddenly asked.
I looked at her. "What does the Queen look like? I've never seen her before. "
"Hmm. She is beautiful and kind, and she loves Kara very much. We feel that even though she is not her real daughter." Sandra answered softly.
I nodded. It makes sense, though. She is Kara's second mother, so maybe she is like that.
"How did they meet? I mean the King and the Queen?" I asked again.
"All we know is that the King fell in love with her the first time he saw her and made her Queen. Is it lovely? " Avalie said, giggling.
I smiled a little and never replied.
When we got to the venue, we were thankful that it hadn't started yet. But almost all the students are already here, and we are the only ones missing. Because each class was together, Avalie and I got separated. We immediately headed to the front where the Elite was sitting. I could feel people staring and even whispering about us, but I just ignored it.
After reaching the front, we immediately sat down. My eyes searched for the Princess, but she was not here. I looked at others who were staring at me. Especially Vandel, who looks like he's painting my face because he stares too much.
"What?" I asked them It's awkward!
"You're beautiful, Meliora!" shouted Relm.
I signaled to him to be quiet. Oh god!
"How about me Relm? You won't praise me? " Sandra frowned.
"No! You're ugly, Sandra!" Relm said teasingly to Sandra. She immediately hit Relm on the arm. But Relm just laughed out loud.
I just looked at the front when the Headmistress went on stage with Miss Violet.
"Good evening, mages!" the Headmistress said loudly into the microphone.
The students immediately cheered.
"As we celebrate the birthday of our beloved Princess, Let us first welcome the King and Queen of our land. King Robert Whitlock and his lovely wife, Queen Emerald Whitlock, greet you! " The Headmistress announced loudly.
The other mages' eyes were almost glowing. We all stood up as the King and Queen slowly walked towards the center. There was a seat reserved for them, and, of course, the Princess.
The Queen waves her hand to the mages as the King walks seriously. I heard whispers from other mages that the Queen looked very beautiful in her clothes.
Indeed, she was right. She wears a white ball gown with crystals; it sparkles when light appears, and she wears a crown like a king.
We bowed to pay our respects as they sat in front of us.Following that, we immediately sat down.
She seems friendly, though.
"Now, are you ready to witness our birthday celebrant?"
The students cheered loudly, as if they were excited about the Princess.
I scoffed in my head.
Vandel suddenly stood up, making me frown. I was about to ask him when Sandra suddenly whispered to me.
She softly whispers to me, "He will be the escort of the Princess."
"Don't be jelly. Since then, the Princess chose him, "she added.
"What jelly? Food? " I asked, confused.
She rolled her eyes and looked at me. "Whatever, Meliora!
I shrugged my shoulders. Do I know what jelly is?
"Let us welcome Princess Kara Whitlock!" Miss Violet exclaimed.
The Princess slowly walked down the stairs while Vandel waited at the bottom. She smiled broadly at the audience and waved her hands.
The students were almost praising her because of her good looks and especially the gown she wore today, which was nothing like the ones we wore. Her blonde hair danced freely as she was walking along.
The King and Queen happily looked at her. The previously serious King was smiling widely while looking at the Princess.
I suddenly looked away as my chest tightened. But I instantly shook my head. This scene makes me want to cry badly.
Vandel escorted her to the front, where a seat was reserved for her next to the King and Queen. After he dropped her off, he came back to us and sat in his seat.
I just looked ahead, trying to turn my head as the hugging King, Queen, and Princess came into view.
The party has started, and someone is sharing a message for the Princess. It was a random pick. Anyone can give her a message. I chose to look for something to eat instead of listening.
I head to the food table. I take a plate and choose something to eat. Someone even said hi to me, and I just smiled at them. After I got my food, I returned to my seat.
Suddenly, they looked at me. I raise my one eyebrow.
"What? I've been hungry for a while." I said to them and ate.
Vandel chuckled. "What a glutton!"
"Hey, I heard that!" I answered with a frown, but he ignored me.
"Woah! That's a lot, Meliora! " Sandra exclaimed, but I didn't listen to it anymore. Let them take care of their lives.
The other students started playing and dancing. They were still eating Sandra, and I was just staring in the middle.
My eyebrows rose when Avalie and Drake came in front. I silently smile, because Avalie can hardly look at Drake and her face is red. Suddenly, the King called for Vandel. Vandel came to them, and the King said something to him.
Suddenly, the Princess stood up, and she and Vandel went to the center. The Princess immediately put her hands on Vandel's shoulder and the other hand on his hand. Vandel did the same thing, holding her waist and her hand as well. They danced in the center, and almost all eyes were on them.
I sigh deeply. I immediately stand up and start looking for a way out to get some fresh air. No one noticed when I came out because they were just looking at the front.
When I got out, I saw a chair near the tree. I sat here and looked at the sky. The moon was shining brightly while the stars were around it. I gently pressed my palms together when the cold breeze of air was touching my pale skin.
"Happy Birthday, Meliora." I silently said to myself.
