Chapter 27
We are now riding in the carriage provided by the Headmistress for us. We have our own driver, so we are all in the back. Vandel, I, Sandra, and Copelan were sitting on the right side, while the Princess, Elara, and Relm were on the left.
Vandel also said that we used to live there when we were kids, so the Headmistress didn't tell us the way we were going because there was only one way to Salla.
"So, that's where you and Vandel met, Meliora?" Sandra asked teasingly.
I sighed heavily. Sandra has been asking questions about us for a while. Where did we meet? Do we always play? Do we go from one house to another? Maybe it's good for her to be thrown out of this carriage! One more thing: every time she asked a question, she always looked at the Princess. Oh God!
I chose to turn my gaze outside. I saw her eyes roll before turning to Relm, who was sleeping quietly.
I don't know what will happen next. How do I do this? Whom do I tell first? I need to find the book first, and I will make sure I have it in my hands.
There is only one road I know how to travel on, and that is the road to Salla. I don't know what has happened in Salla since I left, whether people still know me or not. It's been a few years and I'm really only now back there.
I glance at them. They were sleeping quietly in their chairs. That's why I didn't hear any noise earlier.
I relaxed my back and leaned on the back of my seat and closed my eyes to sleep.
"Meliora wake up!" Sandra shook her hand at me.
I slowly opened my eyes. I looked outside and the sun was still shining, but it was the opposite of how we felt now. It's too cold for this sunshine.
I turned to look at them; they were all awake and I was the only one who was still awake. Until now, we are still riding in the carriage and traveling.
"We're almost there," Vandel told us.
They immediately looked outside to observe the scene. The carriage suddenly stopped and we immediately got off.
"Whoa!" Relm exclaimed. He focused on the surroundings he saw now?
"Is this the Salla?" Sandra asked. She trembled as she rubbed herhands together.
"No, this is our first stop." I said.
Do you have a jacket with you? Put it on, it's too cold. " I added.
They immediately obeyed without hesitation. When I scan the surroundings, it's still the same as before. There is a large house that we can see out here in the middle of the forest. We will pass through the forest before reaching Salla, and I think all the land to be traveled will be through a forest.
But unlike our previous mission, the forest here is too small compared to its normal size. So even though the big house is in the middle, it is visible. That house was intended for travelers. What I do know is that it was made for the travelers to Salla, so that they would not have to find a place to stay in the middle of the forest.
"Are the trees really like this here?" Elara asked softly. She tries to touch the whole tree.
"Yes, it's been like that even before." I answered.
"What was that?" asked the Princess as she pointed to the house in the middle.
"That was a house for the traveler. It was made for those who would travel to Salla. " I answered her.
"Let's go," Vandel suddenly said to us.
We started walking into the forest. Even though we were surrounded by trees, there was a path to the house. It was a long aisle. Sandra was very close to me when the wind suddenly blew.
"Is it really this cold here?" she asked.
"It's colder in Salla." Vandel answered her.
Suddenly, she looked at me. "Really, Meliora?"
I smile and nod. "Even if there is sun there, the breeze is cooler compared to here." I explained.
When we arrived, we chose to enter. We met some other travelers in the lobby of the house, but we didn't pay attention to them as they were looking at us. I think we are the same age as them.
Vandel spoke to the owner of the house. So we sat in the seat on the side. The person we saw earlier was also sitting like us; about four of us were sitting. Someone stood up and went forward to where the owner and Vandel were talking.
After Vandel talked to the owner, he came to us.
He showed us the key. "Let's go." "There are only two rooms left here, one for us and one for them," he said.
We immediately nodded and stood up. "Room 302." I read what was written on the key. I lead the way, and they follow me. When I arrived, I opened it. They quickly spread out on the bed and sat on the sofa. The room is so spacious that it has two queen-size beds, a double couch, a bathroom, and a closet.
"I'm hungry!" Relm said, while holding his stomach.
"There's a grill station here. We can cook there. " I said to them.
Relm suddenly stood up. "I'll go with you, Meliora," he said, and pulled me out.
"We'll take care of it. Just wait for us here." I told them.
I opened the door and we started going down to the ground floor. "Meliora, wait!" Sandra shouted as she ran towards Relm and me.
"Shut up Sandra! It's too loud! " Relm yelled at her.
"Hey! Shut up there! "She screa
"Anyway, I'll go with you." The leader would have wanted to come, but Kara stopped him, you know! " She added and looked at me.
My forehead furrowed. "Why? Is there dirt on my face? "
"Whatever, Meliora!" she frowned.
I just shrugged. All I know is that there is a place here for those who like to cook. There's free food ready there, and they will let you decide what to eat. It is included in the rent here.
"I want to grill pork and chicken Meliora." "Relm said to me, and pouted.
I mentally smile. "Yes, that's what we'll do."
When we arrived, I quickly opened the door. There are many mages here. Someone is cooking on the side, someone is talking, someone is eating. We went straight to the grill station, where we were served various types of meat, chicken, and other dishes.Sandra took a plate and placed what they wanted to grill.
I immediately prepared what we would use. Because it is automatic, there is no need to turn it on. Just put in what you want to cook and it will cook automatically.
"Does this right, Meliora?"Sandra asked me this while showing me what she had taken.
"Add some more meat, Sandra." I answered softly. Since we haven't eaten since earlier, I know we are hungry.
Relm added to it. Then we immediately put it on the grill. We had to wait three minutes for it to cook.
"I didn't know there were so many travelers to Salla Meliora." Sandra suddenly said to me while looking at the mages here.
"You probably haven't been there." Relm answered her back. She rolled her eyes at him and looked at me.
"Like Tamora, the land of Salla is also big. What is in Tamora is the same as in Salla except for the royalty. There is no king or queen who rules there. So travelers can only go in and out because no one forbids them. " I explained.
"Why are there no royalties in Meliora?" she asked. "And don't say anything, Relm!" she added, because Relm was about to speak again.
I laugh when Relm pouts.
"I don't know if that's what we grew up with." I answered.
She didn't ask any more questions and focused on cooking. Luckily, they had rice, which was free. I immediately took it for us. Since our grilled food was cooked again, we decided to go up.
"We were here first!"
"It's obvious that we came first!"
We were startled when two people started shouting. A big man and a thin woman are fighting over the place to cook. And if I'm not mistaken, that girl is one of the ones we met earlier.
"Let's go. Don't mind them. " I told them and opened the door.
We immediately went upstairs and served what we had cooked and started eating. We were just chewing in silence when suddenly we heard a scream outside.
We immediately stood up because of this. "What happened?" the Princess asked us. We all shrugged. We hurried out because of this.
"W-what the?" Relm shouted.
