Chapter 41
"E-elara?"
I was stunned looking at them, but they looked at me with a smile on their lips. It's like my brain and heart don't want to accept what's happening. I can't fully imagine the two people I considered friends and whom I trusted. Elara slowly walked towards Avalie while I was still kneeling by the king's side.
" I think you were smart, Meliora? Or should I say Princess? "she said with a laugh.
I immediately looked at her and what she said. What did she mean? I frowned and seemed to process what she said.
Do they know?
Elara was silent by her side while Avalie was still laughing . "You're really stupid! You know, Meliora, we knew from the start. Even on your first step into the Academy."she casually said.
My eyes widened in disbelief. Does it mean it was all a show? Their reactions to our conversations, the things that we shared? I tried to remember what happened then. My first meeting with the Headmistress, rescuing Avalie, our share of the dorm, when I was suddenly going to be anElite.
Was it all a lie and a show?
No, this can't be happening.
She almost cry with laughter because of my reaction. She is no longer the Avalie I know. "You know Meliora..."
She couldn't finish what she was going to say when the upstairs door suddenly opened and someone slowly walked down towards us.
I screamed and screamed that it might be a maid or a helper who would save me, and I was very thankful that it was Headmistress and Miss Violet.
"What did you do?" she asked Avalie emphatically.
"Headmistress, please release me." I pleaded. Yes, I have powers, but I don't know why I can't move. Who made this? This can't be from them; it's not the power of water and wind.
"Are you okay, Meliora?" Miss Violet asked worriedly.
She quickly came to me and knelt in front of me. I silently thanked him. She took the bottle from my hand and put it in his bag.
"What are you doing?" I asked her in disbelief.
That's when Avalie started laughing like an idiot. When I looked at them all, they were all smiling at me.
"Avalie was right. You are easy to deceive." Miss Violet suddenly said in front of me. She cupped my face a little before turning her gaze to the Headmistress.
I couldn't believe it. I was looking at the Headmistress. Is this part of their plan? Our going to Bora, getting the book I don't know!
"I told you!" Avalie replied to Miss Violet.
"What's our next move?" Elara asked calmly of them.
The Headmistress smirked at her question. "Simple... let's make our Princess the traitor." she answered.
"You're really brainy, Mom!" suddenly Avalie blurted out.
"Mom?" I couldn't believe it.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you!" she chuckled. "Meet my mom, Meliora!"
I stared at them both. I couldn't quite imagine that I was a chess piece on their own board. I was supposed to do this, but how did it turn out now?
When the Headmistress snapped her finger once, I suddenly moved. I was about to rush towards them when suddenly a handcuff appeared on my hand. I used my magic, but nothing came out. I use it once more, but nothing really comes out.
"It's no use." Miss Violet said to me. "It's useless," she adds.
Suddenly, two big mages came down, who I guess are the guards here.
"Bring her to the dungeon. She almost killed the king."
I gasped at what she said. "No! I can't do that! They did this. I was screaming to the guards while pointing out the King's situation.
"Now! The Queen won't like it if you don't obey!" the Headmistress shouted at them.
The Queen? Is she the mastermind behind all this? But why?
"Don't touch me!" I threatened them. The two suddenly stopped touching me, but the Headmistress gave them a bad look, so they didn't do anything.
They immediately grabbed me and dragged me into the exciting part of the palace. I'm still wearing the handcuffs they made earlier. I looked at them once more. Avalie was waving her hands at me while Elara was gazing at me. The Headmistress and Miss Violet untied the King and called for the other mages again. They loaded it out.
I struggled with the two holding me, but my body really didn't have the strength right now. I also tried to pull my hand from the handcuffs, but it also tried to stick to me. The one holding me opened the door. Upon opening, the fishy smell immediately hit us. I wanted to cover my nose, but I couldn't. They pushed me into one of the cages and locked it. They immediately went out and left me inside.
After they closed the door, my tears started to flood. I suddenly sat down and tried to feel the darkness that seemed to be pleading with me. I couldn't imagine that the person I first met here was the one who would betray me. But even so, she is still one of my friends.
I sighed heavily and tried to calm myself down. I immediately stood up and peered through the only small window here.
Do they already know I won't be able to return home?Do they have any idea what Elara did? Will they believe me?
I need to find help, but how? It seems that this handcuff acts as a barrier to the release of my powers. I walk around here inside. No matter what happens, I have to get out of here.
"Think Meliora!" I murmured to myself.
I suddenly stood up when I thought of the bird that belonged to him. I mentally curse myself. Why did I think it just now? I immediately walk towards the window and whistle. That's all the bird needs to hear.I waited a few minutes until I noticed a shadow approaching it.I instantly smiled when I saw it.
The bird immediately flew to the window while flapping its wings. "Tell your master this: I know you can talk to him! I need his help. I was imprisoned in the dungeon for a sin I did not commit and please tell him to tell her that this is the right time. " I said to the bird. He flapped his wings loudly before taking off and heading into the forest.
I sighed at what I had done. But suddenly, what Avalie was saying came back, and I couldn't imagine that they knew why I was here for a long time. It was all a show! They are just pretending not to know! I thought about everything; the conversation they had with the Headmistress in the garden, the words Miss Violet was saying to me, why Elara was always attached to Kara and how I saved Avalie; it was all a big lie. They were planning it all!
I want to show them who they are up against. Now that I know who is behind this, I will do everything to restore my life and her life and so that I can be with the King.
Which is my father.
