Chapter 40

"What's going on, Headmistress?" Sandra asked immediately after we arrived at her office.

Until now, the king was still lying down and seemed to be in a deep sleep. We didn't know what was going on because they didn't even tell us. The Princess stayed there. to take care of the Queen and to watch over the King.

After we helped and treated the injured students, we returned here to Tamora with the Headmistress. She's now holding the book, and we're just waiting for her answer to what's going on.

She sighed. "The palace was attacked. You saw them, right? "

We nodded at her answer. They are made of rocks and stone. Whoever they are, they may only be targeting the palace.

"We just received news that the palace is on fire and someone is fighting outside. Since you're not here yet, I have to ask for help from the higher class. We went there. But what we're really wondering about is the sleeping king. We don't know what's going on, but he will not wake up no matter what we do," she explained.

My forehead was wrinkled. "Why? Who is with him? "

She answered me. "The Queen said that she thought the King was sleeping really well because from last night until this morning he was sleeping."

What? He has been sleeping since last night. They were attacked in the morning. Why do I think that the perpetrator knows that the king will not wake up? Where, in fact, the King can fight them all, the King can defeat them.

"What about the fire?" Vandel asked her.

"I don't know how, when we got there, the palace was already on fire. I didn't ask the Queen. "

"Did someone die?" Copelan asked.

"Gladly nothing, only wounded. " The Headmistress answered.

"Anyway, congratulations on your second mission." The Headmistress added and smiled.

"We were elite, headmistress." Relm answered him confidently. Sandra's eyes just rolled in his answer.

"For now, we all need to rest." The Headmistress said to us.

We all immediately thanked each other and went out, one by one. I sneaked another look and saw that she had placed the book under her table.I closed the door before following Elara back to the dorm.

I flinched when suddenly someone placed a jacket on my back. When I looked at it, Vandel was already by my side and started walking with me.

"Thanks." I only told him

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Yes, you? "

"I'm fine. Be safe always," he answered.

I chuckled a bit and didn't respond. We just walked in silence. Vandel will always have a special place in my heart. I know he wanted to ask a lot of questions, but he never once started asking me. He will always wait for me to do so. He's not in a hurry, he's just making sure I tell him myself if I'm ready, which I love about him.

"I will answer all your questions at the right time." I said to him, still facing the aisle.

He looked at me and ruffled my hair. "I will wait."

I smile in return. The rain stopped spontaneously here in Tamora. I thought it was only done in my palace, but it turned out to be all over Tamora. Maybe the other mages, especially those in town, are wondering because of the sudden rain.

When we arrived, we went up to our different rooms. They didn't bother to say goodbye because they were too tired. Until Vandel and I were the only ones left.

"Just trust me," I told him before entering my room.

I close the door tightly. I went into the bathroom to take a shower and get dressed. It was almost night because there wasn't much light to be seen outside. I just put on my pajamas before going to bed.

I tried to sleep, but my body wouldn't cooperate. So much has happened, and until now, the King is still asleep.

I suddenly stood up when someone knocked on my window. When I looked at it, it was the bird that had come here before. I immediately opened the window. It dropped a letter before flapping and flying back to its owner.

I took it. "Meet me at the same location." I read it. I quickly grabbed a jacket before slowly walking out the door. I was on the last step of the stairs when the big door suddenly opened and Elara came in wearing a jacket like me.

I frowned. When she saw me, her eyes seemed to widen, but eventually she smiled. "Where are you going?" she asked.

I mentally curse. "To A-avalie." I quickly answered her. "Where are you from?"

"Ah. I just took something." she said then she smiled.

I just nodded to her and went out the door. I hope she believes that I'm going to Avalie. I quickly went to the forest behind the Academy. When I arrived to look for him, he appeared to me right away.

"What is it?" I asked him.

"She told me to give this to you," he answered as he handed me a bottle with only liquid. It is purple in color and completely different from the others.

"What is this?"

"The cure. Medicine for the King."

I was left hanging with his statement. medicine? Why? Did I think the king was just fast asleep and not in serious condition?

When he saw that I couldn't understand it, he sighed. "I think you need to know the truth.. The truth is, the King was poisoned. "

"What?" I screamed. poison?!

"Yes, We don't know how many hours he will last. That's why you need to get him to drink this, he said to me.

"Make sure to stay safe. The enemy is in the palace,"he added.

"Palace?"

"Yes, She told me that. "

"Tell her to be careful. I heard she was attacked before. " I said softly to him.

"You can count on me," he answered. I nodded and walked quickly.

I immediately went to the gate of the academy to go out. Fortunately, no one is looking, so I can walk freely now.But I didn't see a single carriage. I sighed deeply. I didn't have a choice then.

I closed my eyes and felt my magic. I felt something forming in my back, so I opened my eyes voluntarily. I smiled when I saw my wings behind me. "I miss you." I whispered.

I try to move it before I fall, carrying the liquid that he gave me. I need to save the king. I need to. But I have to be doubly careful. The enemy is in the palace, yet I don't know who he or she was. I only knew a little.

When I saw the big gate of the palace, I went down to the side. Because it's still being repaired because of what happened earlier, I can enter without anyone seeing me. I was walking aimlessly while looking around. I see guards wandering around, but luckily they don't notice me.

I headed back to go through there. I immediately opened the door softly before going inside. All I need to find is where the king room is.

I have almost gone around the entire palace, but I still haven't seen the King's room. Because the other part is on fire, there are only a few rooms left where he can rest, but I don't feel his presence. What I'm wondering is, why isn't there a guard in each room?

I chose to go down through the stairs to search again when I hit a door on the left side of the living room. I slowly walked over to it and opened it. Luckily it wasn't locked. I was very surprised that it had a way down. Even though I wasn't sure, I went in anyway.

But my eyes widened at what I witnessed below: the King lying on a wooden bed with his hands and feet tied. I quickly ran to him and knelt by his side.

To this day, his eyes are still closed. I touched his wrist and I am very grateful that it is still beating. I immediately took the liquid in my hand and opened it.

I only have to do one drop.

I was about to drop it when suddenly I couldn't move. I tried to move my body but something stopped it. When suddenly, someone laughed behind me. I looked at it, but I couldn't see it because she was in the dark part.

"You're so dumb, Meli."

I immediately furrowed my brow because of the familiar voice. A name comes to mind, but I try to shake it off. No, she wasn't here. Please!

But fate is really playful; she appeared little by little, and it was like pouring cold water on me when I saw her.

"A-avalie?" I said, in disbelief.

She immediately burst into laughter. "The one and only. Miss me?" she answered with a smile.

"W-why? H-how?" I was shaking.

What is Avalie doing here? Is it because I didn't see her earlier? Shouldn't she be resting at the academy now?

"I heard you came to me?"

My forehead furrowed. "Who told you?"

"Me." A door opened at the bottom and a woman walked out, whom I had been with for a long time.

"E-elara?"
