Chapter 7
"You're here," someone spoke.
We turned back together only to find Vandel, their leader, casually walking towards us.
He stopped in front of me. "Why didn't you say you were going now?" he asked directly into my eyes.
I looked at others. They are both perplexed by the same shock.I looked at him. "You're still sleeping."
He ruffled my hair. "Did you eat already?"
I pouted and whispered to him. "Actually not yet, but I cooked for all of you."
He chuckled. "Come on, let's eat!" He invited me.
He even pulled me a chair before he sat down. I glanced at the others. Their mouths were still agape while standing. I looked at the princess, who was already looking at me. I just smiled.
"Wow, what was that?" The fluffy guy said
"Do you know each other?" the princess asked.
"Yes, sit down," Vandel said.
What was that? I chose to be silent. Until now, no one has spoken to us while eating. This is awkward.
When the gray-haired girl spoke, " Relm, she was our cook earlier, am I right?" she said while looking at the fluffy guy.
"What the! cook?" Vandel shouted.
I glared at him. "Watch your mouth!"
"I'm sorry, Mel," he apologized.
He looked at them . "She's the new Elite member," he announced.
I can clearly see the confusion in their eyes, as well as the jealousy of one. Still, I still face them with a smile. I stood up and bowed my head a little. "Hi, I am Meliora Hart, ice mage. Nice to meet you all." I said, looking at them.
The fluffy guy recovered first; he stood up. "Sorry for misunderstanding Meliora. I am Relm, an earth mage. I'm really sorry!" he said.
"It's okay," I said.
Next came the man, who had been silent for a while. "I am Copelan, air mage." He briefly said
The two women from earlier also stood up. "Hi Meliora, I am Elara, a water mage. It is nice to meet you. " She said, smiling. I smiled at her.
"I still can't believe it, but I am Sandra, air mage. Nice to meet you, Meliora." She said, then sat down.
We are all looking forward to the Princess. "Oh, doesn't she know me?" she said softly.
"I am sorry, but I just know your title but not your name." I replied.
She sighed. "Alright, I am Princess Kara, light mage."
"I've been waiting to question this, but how come we didn't know that we had a new member?" Elara asked.
"The headmistress told me." Vandel answered.
"How come you know her?" The princess asked him.
He looked at her. "I just know her." He replied.
The princess froze for a moment, but then she continued to eat. Everybody does after he spoke, none of them spoke. They continued to eat in silence.
Do they eat this way? It's too quiet or it's just now.
Nevertheless, I will continue to eat as well. I was already hungry and I cooked for them! After a couple of minutes, I finished eating while they continued. I don't want to be rude, but I was so tired. I want to rest. But is it okay to ask them here or should I ask later?
I looked at their plates. It's almost full of food and barely half full yet!
I stood up. " Sorry to interrupt your eating, but may I know where my room is?" I said to them.
"Beside mine," Vandel said. I looked at him. He also stood up. "I'll come with you," he added.
I just nodded. We left the dining area, but they were still eating quietly. We went up to the second floor. It really looks like a hotel. It has six rooms with different door colors.
I looked at the color of the doors one by one as we walked towards my door. The first one was black and white, the second was brown, the third one was gray, and the fourth was blue.
"This is yours." Vandel said, pointing to the fifth door. It is coloured white .
"And this is mine." he continued, pointing at the door next to mine, which was black.
"Where is the Princess's room?" I asked. Why doesn't she have a door here?
"She occupied the whole third floor," he answered. I see.
I looked at him. "I'll go in. I am so tired."
He chuckled. "Who told you to cook?"
"Hey, you also eat!" I hissed.
"Relm said he had something at fault with you, so he made you a something and that is food though I was the one who cooked for it! " I continued.
He just ruffled my hair and chuckled, "Just go in."
"Oh wait. Wake me up when there's class. " I said, then shut the door.
According to what I read on the schedule that Headmistress gave to me, we only have one subject to take this afternoon, and that is Practising Weapons, which clearly means that we should practice different kinds of weapons either in short rage or long rage.
I glance at my room. My room was way bigger than the other one. It has a queen-size bed, a couch on the right side , a walk-in closet on the left, a mini table, it is also carpeted, it has a chandelier, and the color is all white, which I actually like. I walk towards the other door. Oh!It is the bathroom, and my essentials are here. It's useful to know. The bathroom is the same as the other one, but it is way bigger and wider.
After that, I lay down on the bed. Maybe I'll just take a nap.
I was startled by the knock that came from my door. I lazily got up and opened my eyes. Where am I? Why mostly white?
"Meliora, wake up, we have class!" Someone shouted outside. Come on! I forgot I was in Elite!
"Yes, just a moment!" I shouted back.
Luckily, I still wore my uniform, but I did my other usual routine. I brushed my teeth, because it was embarrassing for me not to. I ponytail my long hair because our subject today is practicing weapons. My vision needs to be clear. Now I'm done.
I made my way out of my room. I looked at their rooms. I felt that there was no one here. Did they leave me?
When I got down the stairs, I saw Sandra sitting on the couch in the living room.
She instantly spotted me and stood up. "Meliora, I've waited for you for so long! Come on, we're already late." she said, rolling her eyes.
"Where are the others?" I asked.
She held my hand. "They went first, but the leader told me to wait for you. As a good citizen, I did," she said with a frown. I silently laughed.
Sandra seems so nice. When I first saw her earlier, I thought she was very rude. She keeps rolling her eyes, which I saw a while ago. But she seems to be like that to everyone.
"Okay, sorry for waiting, Sandra." I said. She just smiled.
We quietly make our way to the elite class. If I'm not mistaken, Elites have their own building for their classes that is intended just for them. It was separated from other students because of the king's wishes. He wants his daughter to be safe because he doesn't know who will make an attempt on her life.
Avalie told me about this. The day she talked about Elite, she said a lot more, and I just remembered it all now.
"Meliora, I have a question." Sandra suddenly spoke.
"What's that?"
"Why are you and the leader close? Don't get me wrong, but from what I saw earlier, he only smiled and spoke to you. He hasn't even smiled at me hmp! " she said with a frown.
I laughed. "We've been friends since then. Try to talk to him."
"What to talk about?! Don't Meliora, the princess will be angry with me." she stated.
"Why?" I asked curiously.
Why? She is just a princess who is protected by everyone, yet it is her responsibility to protect the people. Can she protect herself? I doubt that.
"All of the students here already know that Princess Kara likes the leader. She doesn't want another girl hanging around her except us and she always wants to be the one attached to the leader. You know, the leader would have been the one waiting for you earlier, but the princess insisted and pulled him. That's why I am here. It was her first time to see Vandel interested in a girl. " Sandra gave a long explanation.
That explains why she kept looking at me a while ago. She doesn't want someone else's attention to Vandel's eyes other than her own. I silently laughed.
"I see. You're friends, right? Are you afraid of her? " I asked.
She held her breath. "Y-yes, we're friends." It was as if I was forced to say it.
Well, that's Avalie's story to me. That's why they were chosen to protect the princess because they were friends and all of them were strong. But when I saw her expression, I knew something was going on. I just shrugged it off.
