Chapter 25
I decided to go back inside because they might look for me again. I just walked in quietly.
When I entered, the Queen was in front giving a message to the Princess. I just sat in my usual seat and listened quietly.
"Meliora, where are you coming from? I was about to find you. " Sandra asked worriedly.
Others were also looking at me, waiting for my answer.
"I went to the comfort room." I said to them.
They nodded, but Vandel was still looking at me. I looked at him confused, but he just avoided my gaze.
I faced the front of the stage. The King stood up to give a message to his princess.
"First of all, I would like to say that I love you very much. You are my princess, my strength, and the one I love the most. I promise to protect you always. No matter what happens, you will always be my Princess." He said as tears flowed in his left eyes.
The Princess was sobbing, listening to what he was saying. She instantly gave the king a hug and started crying. The King tightened the hug as the Princess stayed in his broad arms and the Queen approached them.
I looked away and tried to remove what the King said from my thoughts. But no matter how hard I try, it keeps coming back. Suddenly, tears came to my eyes and I quickly wiped them away. No one noticed them because they were staring straight at them.
I sigh heavily. I may look stupid if I do that. What excuse do I have in this case?
They also gave a message to Kara, but I didn't listen until it was the Princess's time to give. She thanked everyone who attended, especially her parents, but I quickly looked at her at the last words she said.
"I will always be the one and only Princess of Tamora. Remember that! " She said last before handing the microphone to the headmistress.
I clenched my fist silently. I saw how the King's forehead furrowed while the Queen looked at the Headmistress and Miss Violet just stared at her.
"Uhm. Okay, thank you for coming mages. Let's end it here! " The Headmistress said and first went down to the center.
The King and Queen stood up and slowly walked downstairs. The Princess is still clinging to them.
They came to a halt in front of us, so we paid our respects.
"Good evening, Elites," says the King.
"Good evening too, dear King and Queen." Vandel answered him.
The Queen chuckled. "Don't be too formal, Vandel. Just call us Tito and Tita, okay? " She said softly.
She suddenly looked at me in surprise. "Who are you?" she asked in a cold way.
Suddenly, they were surprised at what she had done. She suddenly smiled at me. "I mean, you look familiar." She took it back.
I bow my head a little. "I am Meliora, your highness, new Elite member." I answered.
Her forehead furrowed. "I didn't know that there was a new Elite member," she stated.
"Because she's new." Sandra answered her.
The Queen nodded slowly. She was still staring at me, but later she turned to look at Elara.
"Thank you for taking care of my daughter," she said, smiling.
"No problem, aunty. It's our duty. " Elara politely answered her.
She smiled widely while the king listened silently. He didn't even look at me, he just looked at them.
I sigh.
"Okay, we're leaving," said the Queen to us. She looked at the princess and took her hand. "Happy Birthday again, my love," she added.
"Thank you, mom and dad," answered the Princess and kissed them both on the cheek.
They started walking out, and the Queen waved at us while the King just looked straight ahead.
"Let's go!" Vandel said after they left. We all nodded and started walking back to the dorm.
I glance at them. Tiredness was evident on their faces, especially the Princess. However, it makes me wonder about her speech. Clearly, she knows something about what's going on. I thought she would do the right thing, but no, her words a while ago seem different.
"Kara, what do you mean about what you said earlier?" Elara asked.
She caught the attention of the others, so they also looked at Kara.
Kara smiles a little. "I just want them to know that I am the one and only Princess," she answered.
"Of course. We knew that from the start. But why? " Elara asked again.
"We don't know if someone stole it from me."
It caught me off-guard. But I was shocked by what she said afterwards. "I will not let that happen," she added.
I should not underestimate her; she wants to be the one and only princess.
What did he say to her?
"No one will steal it from you, Kara. What are you talking about? " Sandra uttered.
"We don't know what will happen." she said and walked straight ahead of all of us. They froze at the moment. Their foreheads were furrowed in wonder at what she was saying.
Suddenly, they realized that the Princess was gone. Elara walked and ran to catch up with her.
"What is she saying?" asked Sandra.
"I do not know either." Relm answered him.
"She seems strange." Copelan seriously said
"Let's go." Vandel said, and started walking.
We follow him. Until we arrived at the dorm, we just quietly went up to our rooms. After I closed the door, I quickly showered and got dressed. I sighed heavily at what was happening.
Should I ask for help from her?
I forgot. She helped me from the start.
Each day doesn't feel right. I need to know who is the person behind this, the one that I fear most, Headmistress. I need to know what the princess thinks. I need to get our old life back.
I left the bathroom and went to the window. I slowly opened it and looked at the big moon. But I frowned when I saw a bird in the distance coming towards me. I opened the window wide.
It stopped in front of the window while flapping its large wings. He was carrying a letter tied to his leg. I quickly took it and it left on its own.
I opened it and read the letter. I got my jacket and instantly opened the door. No one noticed that I left because I knew they were all tired and might be sleeping now.
I opened the front door and quietly walked out. I went straight to the big forest behind the Academy. I searched for his presence until I found him sitting high in a tree.
I crossed my arm and stared at him. He immediately jumped right in front of me.
"Why?" I immediately asked.
He smiled widely and hugged me. "Happy Birthday," he whispered. I returned it with a hug.
"Thank you," I replied.
He gave me a hug and gave me a letter. "She wants me to give it to you."
I smiled. She will never forget me.
"I'm leaving."
"Wait! What did you tell her? " I asked. What did he say to the princess?
"Uh, I just said that the real princess has one or more than one magic." he answered and smiled widely.
That explains why Kara asked that question before.
"Did she recognize you?"
He held his chin and seemed to be thinking. "Uhm. "No, I used a mask to cover my face."
I silently sigh. "Great. Thank you for this." I said and started walking back to the dorm. He just nodded.
I put the letter in my jacket pocket. When I opened the door, only the sound of my shoes could be heard. I quickly entered my room and locked the door.
I get the letter and open it.
"Happy Birthday, my love. Time will come and they all know it. Just do your mission perfectly. I love you so much. "
I smiled. I hid it and went to bed.
Everything will fall into place. I promise that.
