"A man has arrived at the gate asking for you. He says his name is Marcus." The maid came and said before Alexia even started preparing for the new day.

Alexia froze, her blood turning cold veins. Marcus, her former mate, the man who had rejected her and left her broken-hearted years ago is seeking her out, once again.

What could be want after all this time? And why now, of all times, when she was still reeling from the Alpha's confession?

She knew she couldn't avoid him forever, not with when she still has to tell the truth of her pregnancy. She lost the baby and what? Yes, he should leave her alone.

With a wave of hand, she gestured for the maid to leave, her voice almost same as a stammer as she spoke, "Tell him... tell him I'll be down shortly."

And with that, she sank back onto her bed, a heavy sigh escaping her mouth?

Does she even need to apply any makeup? Was this the time to care about what she looks like before him? After all, they are over and there's nothing between them to impress him over.

Then again, she can't exactly go to meet him without making an effort. She felt a need to show him she's no more the worthless Omega from before.

At last, she stood, her hands clenching into fists as she stood before the mirror and did s little makeover. She took a deep breath and forced herself to walk towards the door thereafter.

As she descended the stairs, and neared the exit to the pack house, Alexia caught sight of Marcus standing outside the gate, his face palmed into his hands as though lost in thought.

He turned as he heard her footsteps, and for a moment, neither of them spoke.

"There's nothing to talk about. You made your choice years ago, and now you have no place here." Alexia was the first to break the ice. Honestly, she didn't expect she'd meet him again since her encounter with him days back.

"Actually, I'm here because I heard about what happened with the Alpha, and I need to know if it's true." Marcus said and she almost snorted but replied nevertheless.

"Whatever that is, it's true. I am the Alpha's mate. And I don't need you anymore." She spoke, her shoulders high.

"You can't be serious. You're bonded to him? After everything that happened?" His eyes widened in literal shock. To him, he thought he still has a chance with her. Not until he heard she's already with the Alpha. Now confirming it from her, he was rendered jaw struck.

At first, he was overwhelmed by how she came back to the pack with a new identity. A Lycan princess- a title so rare and powerful.

Something that makes him regret his decision from the past years so much. He wished he hadn't chased her out of the brothel. He wished he'd stick with her.

"I am." Alexia's smile only grew.

He forced himself not to let out a tear. 'What have I done!' He thought to himself. For his selfishness and lust toward Sloane, he lost her to someone else.

Bracing himself all at once, he maintained a stance position and tared at her, his eyes expressing his disbelief.

He took a step towards her, his fists clenched at his sides and she didn't even try to step away.

"You've lost your mind. You're risking everything for that arrogant prick." He growled.

He knows Alpha Steele, the Pack's Alpha and definitely a believer of the many years rumor of the Alpha's cold-heart and ruthlessness. Alas, his ex-mate wants him?

Alexia's smile remained there, her voice steady rather than shivery as she replied, "And you're here to save me? To protect me from the Alpha, like you protected me all those years ago when you rejected me?"

That was a dagger, digging into the heart of Marcus. She was right. He was never there to protect her like years ago. Instead, he rejected and chased her out in the dark dangerous night.

Her words that are targeted at his abandonment was a huge blow on his ego.

"You're making a mistake. I know what the Alpha is like. I've seen what he's done. He'll hurt you, Alexia. He'll destroy you." Marcus' frustration only seemed to grow as his eyes narrowed at her.

"And what about you?" she asked, and met his gaze. "What did you do? What did you destroy?"

"I was trying to protect you. I didn't know how to handle the bond. I was scared, and I did what I thought was best for you and for us. I don't own the brothel, you know? I was just a mere guard." He sighed, his voice softer now.

"You didn't know how to handle the bond?" she repeated, a challenging brow cocked in the air.

"You didn't know how to handle me. You were scared of me, of what I was, of what I could become?"

Thinking of it, even the whole wolves at lost all hope on her as they saw her as just a hopeless orphan omega so who was Marcus not to think in the same line?

Of course, her success was meant to shock them all. Her new identity ought to show the superior one.

"I was wrong. I shouldn't have rejected you. I should have fought for you. I was a fool." He admitted.

"A fool? Yes. But now you're too late."

He's delusional if he thinks she's going to accept him back. Infact, he's probably daydreaming.

"Alexia, please. I know I was wrong. I'm here now. Let me help you. We can face the Alpha together. Reject him and I swear, I won't let him hurt you. We can be the happy couple we could have been." He pleaded, trying to step closer to her.

"You want to help me?" She stepped a far distance away from him. "You couldn't even help yourself. Why should I trust you?" She mocked.
