A week later
It's been a week since the Lycan princess has been on the sickbed, and no day pass without her receiving a care from the Alpha, something more than she could ever wish for.
Even Luna Celeste would constantly come to check up on her but that doesn't mean she trust her enough though. Ava on the other hand kept playing the pity game too, and thankfully that's with staying in the distance, she didn't try to get closer.
Who had caused the accident was still unknown.
Until yesterday, the Alpha hasn't been attending to any of the pack affairs but now he's buried into work, with her persuasion.
She doesn't want to be the one making him backtrack as that would be utterly unfair of her.
"There's a letter for you from your parents." She received an unexpected news from the maid and torn open the letter to see her mother's handwriting.
What? They didn't be serious. They are coming next month? Oh no, at least they could have given her more time to prepare.
Hopefully by then she'd be alright or she will be left with an option of pretending. She herself won't even want them to meet her in this situation.
"Hope no one saw this with you?" That person in question being the Alpha. She was relieved when the maid negatively shook her head.
The rest of the day went by smoothly, that too without seeing the Alpha's face, Kade beside her throughout as his replacement.
"Does he have that much work to tend to?" It got to a point, she faced Kade whom she'd earlier turned her back on and asked.
"A whole lot, ma'am." Kade replied looking up from his phone and she can feel he'd exaggerating. "Are you toying with me?"
"No, I'm not. I mean it. There's been a lot of abandoned work from the past weeks in which he kept on adjourning and I could do nothing to, not as if he would listen to me."
"That's good to know." She lied, turning away to rest her neck back on the pillow.
"If you miss him I call place a call across to him for you and you can speak with him, I'm sure he misses you too and would love to hear your voice."
"No, don't bother." The restriction in her heart was just too much there was nothing she could do to subside it.

The Alpha sat at his desk his face set and focused as he worked. His fingers flew across the keyboard of his computer, and suddenly he paused, reaching for his tablet, his fingers swiping across the screen.
Before him also, a stack of documents sat his pen scratching across the paper as he added his own annotations and corrections.
He's so restess because he wants to finish all this in a couple of hours so he can be able to see his mate and likewise spend quality time with her.
His phone pinged, and he glanced at it, took his eyes away and then it snapped… Alexia father?
All was doing- the computer, the times and the tablet- took only a second to be abandoned and for their owner to abscond.
It was a text, a short yet scary one at that.
'I hope this text finds you well. Right, it sure would. I haven't been hearing from my daughter ever since her last visit and even though you might have caged her down, what year will you spare a day to pay us a visit?'
'Excepy you're playing my daughter and meant to throw her away sooner.' Another popped in and his throat bobbed.
He wasn't expecting a message from the Lycan king. Not today of all day, especially since it's getting dark and he can't leave for anywhere at this time.
His slammed his hand on his table, how could his mind have skipped them? He could he have forgotten he has an in-law somewhere?
Right, he's too focused on his mate to begin with. Not even the pack affairs.
He has to fix a date with them quickly but first, he needed to look at how tight his schedule is.
"Kade—" he stopped to crease his forehead, remembering he'd assigned him to stay by his mate, leaving him to go to the other desk and fetch the schedule file himself.
He scrolled through it and paused… there's a tiny chance for him next week, it seems.

"How's she?" Luna Celeste was the first to come in Alexia's room at dawn, sitting by her sickbed.
"She's getting better but asleep at the moment." Kade answered her, stretching out his body from the couch at the far end of the room that he spent the night.
"Make sure she eats as soon as she wakes up." She warned before leaving, stepping out of the room to roll her eyes. Ava shouldn't have bothered with this mess she created.
The Ava in question didn't do her makeup by herself this time. She called the pack house's make up artists.
"Are you going to get to work on nothing?" Seeing their hesitance she snapped, annoyed already.
"I think we should inform the Beta first. We are only assigned to the former Luna and the Alpha's mate alone—"
"I guess that's my take to call Luna Celeste. You both have spent enough time here already, new sets of people would need and cherish the work more." She grabbed her phone off the vanity desktop and the two ladies at her shoulders shared a look understood only between themselves.
"We are sorry." They both chorused in sych and she smirked wistful before dropping her phone back to its position.
Inside the Alpha's room, he's taking his morning coffee and applying the last touches to the files because finally, he'll be done before noon.
He couldn't get a wink of sleep last night too, he's pretty sure he has dark circles under his eyes.
His door opened at some point but based on the clicking of heels, it wasn't whom he had summoned.
