Ava entered inside Luna Celeste's chamber, feeling so angry this was happening so soon.

"Alpha and Alexia are together again. They've made up, just like that. It's not fair! Their fight didn't even last for a week at least."

Celeste, seated at her dressing table, turned to face Ava, curious of what she meant and why she's here. "How do you know this?" she asked, one perfectly arched brow rising in question. What's she saying?

"I heard them arguing and Alexia was in there, practically begging for his forgiveness. It's always her, isn't it? The one he can't resist?" She's doubting if she even have a chance.

Celeste placed a hand on her arm. "Calm yourself, Ava. You're letting your emotions get the best of you, oh please take a deep breath."

She shook her head.

"No, Luna. It's not my emotions that are getting the best of me. It's her. Alexia. She's like a disease, infecting the Alpha's mind and his heart and turning him against me whereas haven't even done anything and I'm the bad person already."

"You need to be careful, Ava. The Alpha may be swayed by his affections, but he is not a fool. If he suspects your involvement in any schemes..." She pulsed, seeing her act this way making her want to puke because why the hell is she losing her control!

"Why did you bring me here then, Luna Celeste? If Alexia is the one he wants, why have me in his way? Why lead me to believe that I could win his heart?"

To say she wasn't told the Alpha has a mate already and only knew when she got here a competition awaits her.

"We both know what Alexia is, Ava. She's a poison, a deceitful creature and someone I don't want for my son." she didn't think twice before adding numerous lies together and making it one. "She may have captured the Alpha's heart, but it is fragile.

"You must strive harder, Ava. The Alpha's heart may not be fully hers, not yet. You must find a way to push her out, to turn him against her, but more importantly, do not jump to conclusions. Just because they've had a conversation does not mean they've fully reconciled. There may still be hope. Use your cunning, Ava, I picked you as the perfect candidate because of it. Find her weaknesses like I'm also trying to. Girl, remember this is not about love."

She rose from her seat, sweeping at her dress as she paced the room as she thinks of everything possible.

"Alexia is clever, but she is also impulsive. You must use that against her. Find a way to provoke her, to make her lose control. And when she does, the Alpha will be there to see whom he's taken for a mate and when that happens, you will be there, waiting!"

Ava hesitated but agreed, only to grow curious of the cause of the Luna's hatred toward the Lycan princess, in which the Luna didn't wait to tell her.

Ava's eyes widened in surprise at the Luna's declaration thereafter.

"Barren?" she whispered the word, and she won't lie she sounded almost unbelievable that she even stammered. "But... but how do you know that?"

"Alexia may think she's clever, but I have my ways. I know her weakness, and it will be what I'll use against. Come on, I want too see my grand children already."

Ava cocked her head to the side, now confused since she's not so close with the Alpha and was just getting to know her when she brought her in." Why would you share this with me, ma'am?"

"Because, Ava," she began. "you have what Alexia never will. You have the potential to give me grandchildren, to carry on the bloodline of this pack."

"And that is why I am willing to help you, Ava. Because our interests align. I want the Alpha to see Alexia for what she truly is, and you want to take her place. Together, we can achieve both." Luna Celeste's hand landed on the Ava's shoulder.

"But if I take Alexia's position and I go through the coronation, won't it result to enmity between me and her?"

"Do not concern yourself with my intentions, Ava. Your task is to remove Alexia from the Alpha's heart, and in doing so, you will secure your own position. The rest will take care of itself."

With a dismissive wave of her hand, Celeste dismissed Ava. "Return to your room, Ava. Make your plans and just set any damn trap. The time, be wise."

MORNING

Alpha Steele woke up groggy from sleep and the first thing he did was stumble towards the window, and he stood there feeling dizzy from the effect of last night's alcohol.

Ava's voice drifted inside as she looked into the peephole of the door.

"Alpha, I brought you some tea. I thought you might need something to help you recover." She has heard from a maid how drunk the Alpha was last night.

The mere mention of tea was enough to loss him off and make him snarl. He understands she's seeking his attention but she might as well do that well. He hates tea, for heaven sake!

"Get that filth out of here," He lowly grunt and to his maid who had rushed in, he growled, "Bring me my coffee. Now."

Ava, caught off-guard by the Alpha's outburst, stammered and but retreated, the tea in her hand clattering to the ground as she fled.

Alpha Steele stood in his chambers, the cold coffee cooling on the table before him, but just that it wasn't what he wanted.

What he wanted was the taste of a coffee brewed by Alexia though he's never tasted one in a while, and he was reminded there might never be a chance again when his mind replayed their argument from the day before.

He stood, arms flipped behind his back and he was on his way to her room. To see her face.

Was she awake yet? And yes, just remembering all the harsh comment he made to her yesterday has him freezing his eyes close, not only feeling regretful but stupid too.
