"You should have been more careful, Ava. If you had taken a more lenient idea and made use of it, it would have been better. Or Alexia would have slipped without suspicion if you had been care but now, the Alpha is on his guard and it's more like your plans have been delayed."

"Alexia deserved it, Luna." she blatantly refused to agree to the Luna's scolding.

"This was the only way to get the Alpha's attention, Luna. If I had been more subtle, he would have brushed off Alexia's fall as an accident but now, he knows that someone is targeting her and would at least need a shoulder to lean enough now that's the tough time."

"And what of Alexia now? What will you do to ensure that the Alpha's attention remains on you?" The Luna smiled expectantly, choosing to remain cool and calculating towards the situation.

"I will be the perfect picture of innocence, Luna, it's really that simple. I will be by the Alpha's side, like some loyal and devoted puppet always willing to offer my assistance, and comfort. I will make him forget about Alexia, and he will come to rely on me, to depend on me. And when the time is right, boom, he's all mine." Just thinking of her perfect plot made her giggle ear to ear.

"You think it's really that easy when you'll have a lot to deal with when his mate recovers? Do you think this is the perfect idea?"

Ava stepped back wryly. "I don't understand. You asked me to derive a plan and there it is. Okay, listen..."

"When Alexia recovers, Luna, I will be there to tend to her, to help her back to health. I will be the perfect friend, the doting companion, and she will never suspect a thing. And when the Alpha's guard is finally down, that should be all? I can give him the heir he wants and all."

"A wise plan, Ava. Same way I must go to Alexia, to tend to her in her time of need and must also ensure that the pack believes that I am innocent, that I am not involved in this scheme," when Ava laughed, she playfully chastised.

"Of course, I must be the good mother-in-law, the doting caregiver. I must play my role to perfection, or all will be lost when they start pointing fingers at me knowing I hated her. Now that she's not feeling fine, I should do what I've never done before."

"You will do that, Luna. And while you are busy tending to Alexia, I will be busy with the Alpha. Just so amazing!" They both shared the same conniving gleam between themselves.

Inside the pack's kitchen was the head of the chef, her hands planted on her hips as she addressed her fellows, all of them unable to even look at her following the event of the morning.

"Someone here is responsible for the incident with the oil, but who knows? The Lycan could have been badly hurt and it could have been fetal than that."

A silence fell over the kitchen, each staff member avoiding the head chef's piercing gaze

The silence in the room increased, the first time they've all ever been silent the kitchen free from today's gossip.

"I know none of you would intentionally harm our Alpha's mate but if anyone has any information, any suspicions, I urge you to come forward. I won't be the only one to reward you but the Alpha also."

A minute passed and they still weren't saying anything. "Someone among you must know something. I need answers." she repeated..

"I assure you, head chef that all love our Alpha's mate and would never want to harm her." one of them quivered.

"Then why has no one come forward? I know one of you was responsible for the oil on the floor since the culprit isn't ready to talk and wants us all to take the punishment instead."

She knew from the inside of her heart none of them was capable of such atrocity but she also needed to plant some fears in them to see if perhaps, once of them will confess, because not even everyone can be trusted.

"No one?" For the last time, she yelled. When they all kept quiet and stop whispering among themselves, that was an answer enough.

None of them had a hand in it and this; they'll all be suffering together when it's time for judgement.

"What is going on here? what meeting is so important the princess's dinner hasn't been served?" A irritated question arose from behind them and when they all looked it was their former Luna standing at the entrance.

"Good evening, ma'am." all heads were bowed.

"The meal is just about to be done. I'll bring it over under ten minutes, ma'am." the head of the chef told her but she didn't leave, stunning everyone. "I'll wait till it's done and take it to her myself."

None of them can say that wasn't surprising at the same time who knew what might have occured on the trip the Luna went and made her this way.

One weird stare at their gathering and they all remained to disperse, each going to their different position.

The head of the chef cooking almost died of anxiety as the meal took long to be done, only that the Luna seen to have enough patience today.

"No, I'll follow you with it." When the meal is done rather than placing it on the Luna's hands which is a disrespect she offered, and Luna Celeste chosed not to argue with her.

At the doorstep, she took over the tray and sent her away.

"W...what are you doing?" Alexia expected any other person to bring her food but not her, her mate's mother. Even while in pain, she grounded her teeth at the though of her starving for the night.

She's going to have to starve to sleep in this situation of hers. Anything but not eating that food.
