"You need to eat."
The expression on her face, the small she never witnessed on her face, was all scary. Alexia slipped back under her cover, shaking her head.
"I don't want to eat." She can't believe in this much pain she was about to bounce out of the bed to receive her food but it's the Luna that just had to bring it.
"Why? You don't feel hungry?" The Luna asked as she placed the tray on the bed side beside her to stare down at her.
"Yes. Maybe a tea or something made by one of the chefs will do." She didn't try to hide her insecurity away from her.
"Alright." The Luna chosed not to speak about it either. She just has to follow her role for a few weeks, to get rid of suspicions and then be back to normal.
"Mom?" The Alpha who met his mother half way called squinting to make sure he wasn't seeing things. "What are you doing here?" He added.
It's not normal for his mother to be here, he didn't even think she'd even show up to greet her at all but… looking over her shoulders alone was a plate of hot foot she'd clearly just brought.
"I came to see your mate, or you think I should have or I should be chased outside?" To side herself and gain the upper hand she twisted his words.
"No, that wasn't what I meant. I just wasn't expecting you to be here." He dismissed the matter as hurriedly as they went their way, his mother to the kitchen and the Alpha to his mate.
"How are you feeling now? Sorry I was away for a while." He brought forward a chair which he sat on and faced her.
"Don't worry, it's nothing." She smiled that too without breaking a sweat. It's torture being on the bed all day that she just want to be out of it soon. And by soon…?
"What did the physician say? I'm still feeling the pains each and every inch of my body but did he perhaps give a duration of when I'll be full recovered?" She tried to seat herself up as she asked.
"He said within two to three weeks." He replied as he helped her to sit upright, placing a pillow behind her so support. She shouted and he immediately thought he had hurt her.
"Oh no, I didn't mean it. Are you hurt–"
"Two weeks? No, three? How can I be in bed for that huge duration? Doing what, Alpha?" It was until she laid her concern down that she sighed and sat himself town back on his seat.
He can't believe he made her panic.
"It was what he said. And is there weeks too much? What if the accident was fatal, dear mate?" His last two words got her smiling and she even almost blushed to his eyes, but quickly coughed, keeping herself back in check.
"I'm grateful then."
"Exactly." He buttressed.
The door wasn't closed so the maid came in freely and that too with the requested tea, with a bow, she leaving when Alexia got the idea of calling her back to prepare her a new meal but remembering her mate was present and dismissing the food his mother had brought will hurt him, she choosed not to speak and make do with the tea for the meantime.
"Eat. Should I feed you?" When she snapped her eyes towards him just as she took a sip of her tea, he nodded to tell her he ain't bluffing. "Yes, I can. I don't have any tasks to tend to at the moment. I'm completely free."
He doesn't seem to know the reason she looked this horrified. "No, don't bother, I'll eat the food when I feel like eating. I lost my appetite just now."
He didn't push her into eating after that.
She couldn't maintain eye contact with him either.
It was crazy how her, a poor omega from nowhere who only recently upgraded to a Lycan princess is mated to this powerful Alpha who for her can go as low as feeding her in front of his workers, without any care in the world.
Surely her type of luck is rare.
"I need to ask you something that has been bothering me ever since the incident though…" to get rid of the awkwardness between them, she started, placing her tea next to her carefully.
Eyes taken away from the magazine that had just been passed to him by his beta, he gave her his full concentration.
"The dinning area isn't a place for cooking but how possible? How can a cooking oil be at the spot I seat at the particular time? I'm not denying the fact some of the plates has some sprinkles of oil on them but was it that much it got on the floor too? That too a titled flooring that must have show the oil clearly and the maids could have cleaned it at that point."
"I don't know if I'm making sense." She bit on her bottom lip, the Alpha's looking far in thought compared to hers.
"None of the staffs has confessed so far. I wanted to be just on this case so far now, I'm going to concentrate on your healing then, I'd know what to do and what judgement to pass." He replied after a while.
She nodded but didn't completely agree.
Why's a part of her telling her none of the staffs has anything to do with her accidental slippery? Something must have occured at the dinning, something suspicious to begin with.
The only person her mind is telling her off but she wouldn't want to falsely accuse is Ava but there's no proof to that.
At this point it's so hard to differentiate between her supporter and hater. Every day with a new drama, no matter how careful she is.
If Ava is found to have plotted this, she'd be done waiting for karma to deal with her on her behalf. By herself, she will give her a taste of her own medicine and that's a promise.
