"So, because I'm away, Celeste can't maintain the house?" The former Luna, Steele's father throat bobbed at the other end of the mind-link, finding the situation absurd.

"That's not the matter here. The thing is that you need to come back home and solve all this mess. Ever since my mother refuses to accept Alexia as my mate, I won't lie but things has been going down the pit. Right now, I'm having a fucking headache and can't seem to handle anything anymore…"

"I'm not coming back. At least not any time soon." He heard him say and instantly shook his head as his father continued further, "Celeste will have to come from that trip she went and come and manage the situation."

"Will she listen?" He almost scoffed as he asked and took his seat just a tip of the chair.

"She will because I won't make it words for her but an order!" He was silenced by this statement. At least one of his parent is taking things serious.

"I still have a few things to attend to here and I'm coming nowhere, and I mean nowhere until I am doing with every inch of tasks. You are there and enough to handle the pack as their Alpha. As for your mother, she's going to receive my two cents and better re write her errors!" That said, the mind-link was disconnected and Alpha Steele released a huge amount of sigh from his mouth.

This is now beyond him. No assurance his mother won't come to pour salt on wounds and destroy things further.

He should have known he was making a great mistake when he brought Alexia back under his roof depending it will cost him nothing to build some house right there for them, that too without breaking a sweat.

Or worse, she could stay at her parents' pack? Wait, what? Hell no.

"I hope you're okay sir?" A tap on his shoulder was what jolted him out of his trance.

"Don't touch me. If you can't speak with touching, I will advice you not to speak at all." His once relaxed expression turned sour when he saw who the person is; Ava.

"And you lost the ability to give some privacy too?" He flipped a look at the entrance to see the door was earlier left opener by him.

This lady seem to be taking advantage of every situation. The door to his study being opened doesn't mean she can actually walk in freely, does she understand at all?

"I'm sorry." Her voice was sickening sweet as she apologized. "I only came to check on you, seeing as you weren't with the princess."

The time ticked, suppressing his patience. Without offering her a response not even a nod, he snapped. "And Kade?! Where the hell is, Kade?" Where was in when she entered.

It's amazing he can't even get five minutes to himself under his own roof.

He never wanted to let Ava stay when brought but what Alpha would he be if he fails to provide shelter for a member of pack. Never did he expect her childish stunts towards his mate.

An idea popped up his mind at that instant, cutting short of roaming thought.

"Hey, wait." She was already turning to take her leave when he called.

Ava on the other hand, her eyes enlarged at his surpringly command but then her ears are working and it wasn't an imagination of her own. Or could it be? Nevertheless, she swirled back around.

"Sir?" She made sure to keep her tone neutral.

"Just thinking about it and I think you must be finding this place pretty boring since everyone goes around minding their own business daily…" he started and said in his mind, 'something you can't do' before continuing.

"...on my own free will, I'm offering you any house of your selection for you to stay." Seeing her hesitance, he added charmingly. "That is if you want. Any house whatever, whether big on small."

This was the most conversation the Alpha has ever had with her, that too because he wants her to leave the pack house and take over and house of her choice?

A tempting offer but one she dare not dip her hand into, and go against the Luna.

"I'm sorry but I don't want an house. You've done well to let me stay over and what other privilege can amount to living in the pack house with the Alpha?" Stylishly, she dismissed the offer in such a way she won't be offending him.

Kade who has come and has been watching the exchange almost burst into laughter at the disappointment that immediately overthrown the Alpha's face.

He looks really desperate at getting rid of her.

He bobbed his head countlessly to her refusal but didn't speak any more word. She departed and his Beta got closer.

He leaned closer to the Alpha's ear, "It was so obvious to her, me included, how much you want to get rid of her. Alpha, I think you should have planned this well—"

A raised finger in the air, he cuts gum off. "Suggest something else then I'd listen to you."

Kade quickly straightened, understanding the situation. Pointing out his error at a time like this was disastrous.

"I will try to think of a new idea to bring to the table." Hurriedly, he agreed.

Ava was seated by Alexia's sickbed when she noticed the appearance of the Luna by the door.

"Ma'am, finally you're back." She stood up hurrying over to her side in relief.

The Luna in return passed her handbag over to the maids as she signalled to Alexia, "What exactly had happened."

"My handiwork. I just thought of putting her in her place for a few weeks and it wirked." The Luna was looking genuinely curious until Ava said.

"You did?" The way she sounded surprise had Ava wrinkling her face for a second and frowned. "I did according to your command. You asked me to find a way, and I did."

"Or don't you remember?"
