"What are you doing here, Alpha?" Alexia asked, her voice carefully neutral, she's not expecting him and he should even be here.

She even asked as she got uncomfortable with him staring so intently at her, "If you've come to berate me further, I can assure you that your words will fall on deaf ears."

He didn't take his eyes off her. "I have come to speak with you, will calm down?" He noted her again.

Alexia set the brush down, to place her hand on her lap. "What is it that you wish to say?"

Intentionally she's acting like she isn't happy to see him when the reality is; seeing his face is enough to fill her tummy with butterflies.

"I spoke in anger and frustration yesterday, Alexia. My words were harsh and unwarranted but I was also drunk, and not fully in control of my action." He started coming closer but her next utterance has him stopping.

"And... and what of it?" She chimed.

"I was wrong to speak to you like that, Alexia. I know." She noticed he looked truly sorry.

Alexia nodded, fighting to compose herself and not look into his eyes. "I understand, my dear Alpha Steele.*

She can't believe she was dressing him to go check on him and his well-being but he came to her instead, a reason she's internally smiling.

The Alpha's eyes searched hers, looking for a confirmation she truly meant her acceptance.

"I missed you, Alexia." He decided to try to his luck and instantly her gaze flicked up to meet his, but with suspicion rather than the blush he'd wanted to see tint her cheeks

"If you missed me, why did you let Ava into your office? I saw you with her, didn't I?"

He reached out to feel her cheeks and when she withdrew he sighed. "I was angry, Alexia. Ava was there, offering me an escape from my anger and I was even too tired to shout my lungs out or tell her to go away from me."

Alexia opened her mouth to reply, the words dying on her tongue as the sound of knocking came on the door which is followed by the voice of a maid.

"Princess Alexia, Luna Celeste requests your presence in her chambers immediately."

The Alpha's hand dropped from her face as he stepped away, disappointed the interruption came at such important timing. the sudden distance palpable in the air.

"I should go." Alexia who wasn't expecting the call also has no other choice than to stand up and say to him three words.

Alexia hesitated for a moment her eyes searching the Alpha's face for answers, for him to tell her not to leave but his eyes were revealing nothing.

She forced herself to turn away carrying herself straight to the door away from the Alpha when his hoarse comfier voice broke out.

"Alexia!" the Alpha called out, whilst she turned, her eyes meeting his one last time.

"Do not get discouraged by anything she says. It's going to be alright."

As Alexia stepped into the Luna's chamber, something kept screaming at her to go back and not waste her time but before she could turn and leave, Ava's voice rang out with a fake sweetness that's quick to notice.

*Princess, wait! I... I want to talk to you. Please, it's important."

She turned to face her.

"What is it?" She asked.

Ava took a step forward and her hands outstretched in a gesture of peace. This way she can have her close and attack her when she least expect.

"Alexia, please. I'm not here to cause trouble. I just... I want us to be friends. I know we've had our differences, but if we could put that behind us... if we could work together..."
Ava's voice trailed off as Alexia's eyes bored boringly into hers.

"There is no reason for us to be friends, Ava because our interests are not the same, and our purpose for being here ain't too that I think you presence here is nothing more than a nuisance. You know what's on ground and yet you still accepted to be here."

Alexia isn't sorry for the insult. She's not someone dirt can be poured on.

"I thought... I thought maybe we could restart as friends. Moreover, we never really fought. I've only been here a few days." Ava's face fell as hers fell limply back to her sides.

"Oh, Ava." she singsong in pity. "We will never be friends, not when there is so much at stake. Let's keep things as they are, shall we? Stay out of my way, and I'll stay out of yours."

"You're only fooling yourself, Alexia. You think the Alpha's heart is yours forever? He may love you now, but how sure are you I won't be the next in line to take the loving when all his love for you fades, when he sees you for the broken, barren creature you are... I'll be there waiting because by then I'll be the productive one."

Alexia spun on her heel immediately, her hand doing the next unexpected thing at that moment and the resounding hit of flesh against flesh echoed through the room its effect sending Ava's hand flying up to her reddening cheek.

Meanwhile Alexia's eyes blazed as she hissed through her teeth and cried out, "How dare you?"

Ava's hand dropped from her face, her eyes widening in shock at her still stinging face, the only thing stopping her is Alexia's position in the pack.

"You think you can hit me and get away with it?" Ava snarled, her voice rising but her amazement only heightened.

Alexia's scoff together with her narrowed expression showed how pissed she is at her. "I can do more than that, Ava and I will, if you continue to test me."

Without hesitation, Alexia's hand flew out again and this time connecting with Ava's other cheek, the force of the slap sending her staggering backwards.

"Next time watch your mouth. Me a barren?" Even though she'd trying to act tough, her interior is breaking and her eyes are starting to become watery. Oh goodness! How. dare. she?
