Alexia woke up the next day to an empty bed. Her eyes peeked out of the bedsheet for a last confirmation before she sat herself upright, and quickly wore her dress back. She stepped out of bed and walked out of the Alpha's chamber, to slip back inside her own room.
Soon as she was inside, her face embraced a smile. Her eyes ran around the room in search of some kind of mirror in which she remembered has to be in the bathroom.
Upon reaching there, standing before it, she stared at her reflection. Craning her neck to the side a little, she was able to see the tiny sign of the mark from last night.
She ran her finger over it, admiring its beauty.
She soon got under the shower and as the water cascaded down her body, she closed her eyes against the feeling. After she's done, she wrapped a towel against her chest and stepped out of the bathroom.
After dressing up, she stayed frozen at her door, wondering whether to step out or not. 'How would I see him after the event of last night?' she wondered to herself, her hand gradually slipping from the door knob.
She finally opened the door but to her surprise, almost got knocked into Beta Kade, who was just about knocking, "Hi, Ms Alexia." He greeted, likewise stunned with meeting her halfway.
"Hi, Kade. What do you want?" She stylishly looked behind his shoulder for any sign of the Alpha but got none. She's immediately rest assured.
"I came to ask whether you've seen the Alpha this morning. He's not in his chamber." Kade tried to straighten his fingers through his ruffled morning hair as he spoke his concern. He looked impatient.
"I… Wait, he's not anywhere in the house at the moment?" Hearing this, she closed the door behind her to give him all the attention.
"No."
"There's no problem right? I mean it's too early in the morning, he might be in the woods for a run." Alexia waved him, and led him away from the hallway.
As she ate her breakfast, she found herself often checking the time even though she'd been so reassuring earlier about his whereabout. She's worried although she knows she shouldn't be.
It's also a good thing not seeing him yet. By the time he arrives, she would have known how to act around regarding last night. For now, she needed enough time to get her blushing mood all over with.
"Leave the dishes to me." On reaching the kitchen, the maid was about to take over the dishes from Alexia but was stopped. "The Alpha won't want this. I'm sorry but I have to do it myself." The maid's persistence increased and Alexia sighed, aware of the reason she's worried.
"Not when the Alpha won't know. Who will tell him, Amy?" She wagged a brow at her, and finally, the maid reluctantly left.
To ease her boredom until the Alpha arrives, she wanted to get her hand on a chore at least. After doing the dishes, she went round the compound and was looking around it when the pack house's gate went wide open, and being driven in was the Luna, with a certain lady beside her.
She looked away as quickly as that was seen. The Luna seeing her was one thing, the usual argument that would occur was another. Just as she finally turned her head away, she was forced to look back and take in fully the glimpse of what she's just seen.
The lady didn't come with nothing but can see the maids rush over to meet the Luna who redirected them to the lady's luggages. What's happening? Her face furrowed.
Unable to go in now that Luna Celeste will no doubt see her, she was given no choice than to wait there till Alpha Steele came back home, which felt like forever.
Rather than his car, Alpha Steele had gone out on his legs since he was only going to be out for a run. Side by side with one of his guards, he returned home and was surprised to see Alexia seated at the entrance, about to fall asleep right there at the porch.
"It is as though you've been out for long. Waiting for someone?" His teasing voice startled Alexia out of her sleep. She looked around then towards the voice and got up on her feet instantly. It's unbelievable just a few more minutes more and she would have been spread on the porch, embarrassingly.
"No, I'm not. You're welcome." She stepped aside for him, pretending she hadn't been out here for him.
"Okay. If you're sure." He didn't dwell on the topic. Together with the guard, he walked himself inside and Alexia immediately grew apprehensive.
Before the twinkle of an eye, she's hot on his chase. She'll have to sleep out if she missed this one chance to get in.
As he ate, he stayed etched across the dining table with him, waiting patiently for the time to dish out the various questions now piled up in her head.
"Do you know Beta Kade has been looking for you?" She made an outburst.
'That wasn't what you wanted to say, come on, Alexia.' she scolded herself, closing her eyes momentarily in disbelief of herself.
Alpha Steele simply shook his head as a response. After eating what he could, he got up from his seat, allowing the maid to clear the table. "You said you weren't waiting out there for me, why are you following me here and there then, Alexia?"
He turned around when he sensed her behind him and she almost flew into the thin air. In shame, she palmed her face, "I promise, I haven't been following you." Yet again, she denied, causing him to scoff out loud.
He turned away and started to head for his chamber while she stood there, watching him leave. She wondered why it's so hard admitting some things to him. She's not used to all this and all.
Oh, no. Wait! He's about to be away from there view…
"Alpha Steele," She didn't know when she began to run after him. "There's a strange lady here!"
