Last night wasn't a night of confession like it had meant to be rather it another night she got to have with on his bed, a lovely one at that, making it twice he's mated with her.
"No, I'm up. Let's speak now." It was early that morning when she woke him up from her, lurking at his bed and finally when she can wait no longer, she woke him up.
"You could at least let me have a full sleep." A low grunt came out of his chest but still he sat up, watching her place herself on a seat she's dragged close to the bed edge.
He pulled his hands from his pocket and ran his thumbs up the back of his neck and she tried not to stare so obviously.
"It's just that I went to visit your parents three days ago." Her brow drops after he said but she tried not to show it.
Which didn't work, she looked so angry that she actually shifted her chair a small step back. "Why? I don't understand. You didn't even tell me."
"I couldn't because you were just healing properly." He replied flatly
"Okay, go on." She said her chest burning painfully. She rubbed at the string and there, his eyes flickered to her trembling fingers, does she know what he wanted to say already?
"Why didn't you tell me?' he choosed to test the waters first.
"Tell you what?" She chewed on her bottom lips as she try to will herself to act normal.
"That you're the only child and your parents' heir meaning that you'd be the one to take up their pack soon?" He asked her quietly.
And she can swear she lost her breath.
"Because I knew that was going to change things, like the way it did three days ago and you were so angry." She responded breathlessly, and he stared back at her and nodded.
"And what did you think, what are you going to do?"
"Nothing, I haven't come up with any idea" she admitted, as she fiddled with her dress. She should have know the truth was going to come out eventually no matter how much she tried to bury it.
"I, I don't know too but I was really disappointed and afraid at the same time when your parents broke the news to me. I blamed myself instantly for knowing little to nothing about you. I mean if I had—" for the first time in his life, he's speaking so nervously and like she sensed it, she cuts him off.
"It's not your fault too, it was never. I ought to have told you." She took the blame.
He looked back at her and then her eyes, towards her lips. Then he grunted from a remembrance of yesterday, "Yeah, that too."
"Just give me some time. A month, two, or even three to think things through. I feel I have come a long way with you to want to go back now, it won't be so easy, and I won't be able to bare it too." She glanced warily at him, sad and sad all over again as she thought back on their future.
She was just as lost as his mate is now when the bombshell was dropped on her but she should have expected it too since she's their only child.
The fault she owns now was how she couldn't bring herself to tell Steele for the fear he was going to leave her or not even speak to her like it happened recently.
She can feel she's a lot of burden on him, from him marking her despite the fact only a miracle can make her give birth, then there's another issue; soon she won't be able to stay by his side and leave for her father's pack.
In one word, the Alpha is gaining nothing by being with her. Not even a child. She's just going to leave him empty when he could have been productive if he was not with her.
Then again she selfish, she can't watch herself leave him to another woman even though she's practically useless to him.
Before he can get out of bed, she held him back the questions, "Are you satisfied with this? With us?" She pointed between themselves.
He slided his eyes over to her and nod.
"Don't lie, I'm not the perfect mate for you, if anything, I know myself that I am imperfect but do you still want us to continue even though I have nothing to offer you?" She asked, clarifying.
He nodded again.
His eyebrows cocked in surprise at the tears falling down her eyes and she hurried cleaned her tears, smiling as she mouthed a, "sorry."
She left his room giving him the privacy to have his morning routines then went to her room to do the same when. When time for breakfast came, a guard came to call her rather than the usual maid and she was taken once again to the garden— which has now become a spot for her and the Alpha.
"I thought my mother would be at dinning and you might feel comfortable to eat to your fill." He spoke as she joined him at the table, his served food barely touched.
"Oh, I'm used to it. You shouldn't have bother." She said as she raised her cutlery tucking it into her food immediately. A lie, she's so grateful he's here with him alone.
"Why the rush, anyway?" He watched her swallow a lot at a time and was forced to speak.
"Oh, was I rushing?" She laughed and he raised his signature eyebrow in amazement and continued watching her.
When she was sure she's started eating, she chewed slowly on the bit in her mouth and watched the show; the way he swing his coffee down his throat, exposing his throat as he threw his head back.
When he finished the glass of coffee and went for another swing of wine, placing it down he did a jerk of his chin at her and then she pretended she was just looking at him.
This really can't be the rumored Alpha. Was it just me or he's changing from being the stoic Alpha told about the pack? No matter the amount of change, it doesn't change the fact his wrath is dangerous though.
Being his mate, she can't bring herself to look him in the eye at such time but she did yesterday because of the fear… the fear he's slowly distancing himself from her.
And that was the best decision she's made in a while.
"You know I never eat this much at the dinning table right?" She sholved a new mouthful of another her mouth and glanced across the table to give him nod once.
"That because with you, I feel free." She swallowed and then added, "As happy as a flying bed."
He looked at her but without saying anything, because if he does he might have to smile the first time ever. "Now if you would quit talking for while." Was the only response he opted for.
"Of course, I've heard you." She tried to hide her blush.
She finished her food before he did and she sat back on her seat as she watched her over the wine she's slowly chunging.
Meanwhile he's feeling like a finished man. News should go round the pack that for this lady before him, he's becoming a mess, and a great one at that.
He couldn't think of anything regarding the decision we'd have to make soon perhaps because he didn't want to lose her so soon but taking his time because as much as it hurts, that's the only option.
An option he's turning a blind eyes to.
The maids came as he called for them and they were soon packing the dishes away.
"That was delicious. We should have it another day." Neither of them left their seat and to manage the situation, she grinned.
"It won't be always but once in a blue moon. Using this spot often won't make it 'special' as you call it anymore." He murmured, arching his back backwards.
"That's right." She whispered back with a smile but her breath caught up in her throat when she heard Ava's voice which only meant she's coming over.
Luckily, the guards were quick to block her path before she can take a view of them.
"For once, I was scared." She silently heaved a sigh as she rolled her eyes.
Genuinely curious he questioned, "Why?"
"Here won't be special anymore like you also told me." When his expression changed, she quickly shook her head, "No, don't get me wrong. I'm not against her making us of this spot but I'm just concerned it will—"
Before she can finish, she was stunned into speechlessness when he called for one of the guards and pointed towards her, "Do you hear what order she just gave you?"
When the guard shook his head he nodded at her. "She wants no one near this spot and failure to comply with her order, will be what…?" He looked over at her.
"A disaster?" A delighted giggle burst out of her.
One that even the guard almost laughed but composed himself and bowed before going back to his position.
The beam that passed across her eyes and the way lips would also curl up when she laugh was a beauty and quick turn on at the same time, causing him to quickly rise up.
"Let's get back inside." He said.

Whenever the Alpha was to go, for that day, Alexia was ready to follow him. The more Ava sees them together, the more wrinkles her face had become before she would frown.
She'd been looking for the Alpha since morning and even almost went in search of him at the garden but alas, she was amused when she saw him roaming every where with him not even an hour interval.
Which is so disgusting. It could have been her but she's here in the position of the abandoned kitten.
"I'm not good at chess, I told you both earlier." Inside the Alpha's study room was Alexia struggling to keep up with Kade at the chess game. The Alpha is at his desk working on a project while she's here been a loser to Kade.
"It's obvious. The Alpha told you to back off when it wasn't too late, I thought." Kade glimpsed at her and said before making another move on the chess board.
"She can't back out now?" They can hear the Alpha question from his desk.
"No, she can't. It's too late now." Kade breathed out a laugh.
"Can I just pay the agreed money since I lost already…?" She asked breathless, forcing herself to keep playing what she doesn't even know anything about.
It's entertaining- watching the Alpha work is more fun tho- and that's the only reason she agreed in the first place, moreover who would refuse the chance to see the Alpha's mate for hours.
'Oh, no. I'm a lost case already.' she chatised herself immediately.
It's true though, she can pay any amount just to continue being in his presence because she knows she wouldn't want her in his office while he's busy with her having lied she was bored.
Right about seven minutes later and they wrapped off the silly game. She can now sit up well and oh… pay to Kade.
"What a huge price." Kade blowed out a air from his lungs heartily when the Lycan princess handed her an envelope full of the aggreed money.
"Are you both done? If yes, then I need to concentrate." Alpha Steele slammed a half on the table pulling the attention of the duo.
"Okay, Alpha." Kade was the first to drag his chair back and bow before leaving, the door softly clicking shut behind him, leaving him with Alexia.
"Now, what about you?" He arched a brow in surprise at Alexia who pressed her back firmly against the seat, refusing to budge.
