An ultimatum? What ultimatum?

Was she even hearing the right thing?

"... We'll give you six months. After six months, it's expected a feedback would have come from any one of you. Refusal to receive one, you'll have to come home and get married to anyone at all that we have prepared for you."

It's as if her mother doesn't care.

Her face scrunched up as she tried to think of her statement. Six months maximum or she'll have to go back to her father's pack and be married, that too live the rest of her love with someone else?

"But mom, you know this is a really big choice. You can't just give us an ultimatum. You should allow us think about this whoever long we want.” Nervousness slowly began to hit the pit of her stomach.

She can understand her father's throne can't be left vacant after his dead or something but they should understand it all depends on the moon goddess and might still have a long way to go.

Six months is just a little time. She can't imagine been given to someone else as a wife and been snatched from Alpha Steele just when they are starting to become real close.

“How ever long? You're not being serious, Alexia. This is a matter of a whole pack. A whole pack of Lycans waiting on you, looking up on you. Do you even think you have a choice here?” Her voice is loud enough that she startled.

“I can't leave my mate either, it's a big choice. It ain't something we can just decide on with the snap of a finger, mother.” I cut her off mid-ramble.

She's clearly not the idiot her mother might be thinking she is, moving on to another man and losing Steele would be the biggest scar on her life. As far as she knows.

“You can't decide? I'll decide for you then. Just know six months is all you have. After that, we will have to step in and make the decide the so-hard decision for you.” The line went dead instantly.

And she fisted her hand across the phone, wishing she hadn't picked up but that doesn't mean her message won't reach her one way or the other. Steele must be feeling as torn as she is.

He's gaining nothing been with her and will be left even more empty after she leaves.

She turned around and her heart almost flew out of her chest at the sight of whom she saw standing at the entrance. Did she not lock the door? Her hand stayed on her chest feeling her racing heart as she stared face to face into Alpha Steele's eyes.

He seems to have been there for a while and yet she didn't notice. He must have heard her phone conservation, oh goodness.

“Why do you look so scared?” his slow smirk rattled her face sending a kind of hit sensation to pool her core. “I wasn't expecting you behind me.”

She never expected him at all.

“If you're feeling guilty regarding the phone call, don't worry, I heard nothing bad. You said what I could have spoken in your shoes too.” He rasped brushing his wet hair back. Her entire body is crackling.

Alexia quickly hummed, “I'm glad then.”

She feel relieved he didn't think she said anything to hurt him. Things going south isn't what she needs at the moment.

“We are going to finger it out eventually. You don't have to worry.” He doesn't waste time before crossing over the distance, and sliding his hand to her waist, as he embraced her, his nose engulfing her scent.

His first time.

Her first time too.

Even though they've clearly done more intimate things then hugging, this is different. Every little thing is does to her has their own meaning and always feels different from the others.

She couldn't wrap her hands around him although she wanted to. She just stilled, her head on his chest wondering how to react.

“I must go now. I'll leave you to it.” As he disengaged from the hug to look at her like a meal he's going to devour. When he left, it was like a huge part of her went missing.

The rest of the day was a totally boring one for them. Other than eating she didn't step out of her room, her mood damaged.

The Alpha has been out. She might want to see but distracting him won't do her any good. Moreso this was what she wants, for him to go back to doing his duties in the pack constantly. That way no one would feel she's the one who's been hindering things.

She'd had too much of him and his attention. It's time he concentrates on his pack.

She's getting real scared. Scared she can't feel any symptoms despite she's mated with her mate three times already. Could it be true she's infertile now?

Right, she believed the pack physician when he brought the news but a benefit of doubt lingered somewhere deep in her heart.

Nothing has shown yet. Not even a sign or possibly a lie was told on her.

If she doesn't want to lose him forever, she knows what to do. Either go for another test from another physician already, or get drugs recommend. Just anything at all.

There's another option. One she wished she doesn't have to acknowledge but it's gotten to a point where it can no longer be helped.

Which is for them to get a breeder? No, wait. What??

She can't bare the thought of it. Sharing him with someone else is impossible yet, being selfish will get them nowhere.

She can also choose to let Ava have him. While she goes back to her back, get married to some unknown guy, ascend the throne, and live unhappily and as empty as a barren would with no kid and possible heir for the throne.

“Which will I choose? What does my fate hold? Does it hold any good whatsoever?”
