13. Passion made you ruthless.

"Are you deaf or just pretending to be? Why the fuck are you grinning like a mad man?" The person didn't leave their place, hiding in the nearest bushes. Ally had no idea who the stranger was- an unknown female voice intrigued her. "What are you doing on top of her?!" The woman repeated her question, making Deimos laugh out loud.

"Chill cousin, we're just wrestling a little," He finally answered, earning a loud groan from the woman.

"Alright, you do your thing, but don't forget that you're on the dinner duty today. Figured you might be here since you didn't come home on time. I'll leave you two at whatever sick wrestling game you were playing." The voice faded in the distance.

Deimos watched the place where from the voice came earlier for a while. After a while, he sighed, bringing his attention back to Ally. She kept trying her best to wiggle out of his hold, but the male didn't allow her to move an inch. When their eyes met, Ally felt like he was hypnotizing her- the hint of red in his eyes made her forget. It made the young woman forget way too much- starting from why she was there and ending with who she was.

"You have pretty eyes. Horrible temper, but damn pretty eyes," Deimos leaned closer to the point where their noses nearly touched. His voice was low and husky yet barely audible. As if he wanted to compliment her, but at the same time didn't want her to hear his words.

"Thank you, got those from my dad. Not literally weirdo, don't start getting stupid ideas. Also, it's not that I don't enjoy our little game, but technically you're on top of a sixteen-year-old girl. Wouldn't that hurt your image, if someone found out? I'd suggest for you to get off and bring me home. I had enough of this place," Ally rolled her eyes, turning her face aside to avoid looking at him for longer. There was something about Deimos- the male was so secretive and mysterious, Ally wanted to find out everything about him. But she knew that it was a bad idea, so she preferably turned her back and forgot.

"I thought you wanted to swim, didn't you?" Deimos got off Ally and offered a hand which she gladly ignored. The woman got back on her feet and dusted off her clothes, letting out a deep breath.

She wanted to swim, the idea of the lake's water caressing her skin felt like bliss. But at this point, she didn't want any company. Especially Deimos. Or whatever weird relatives of his that might creep on them within minutes. Allu turned her back to the male and walked towards the car. She had to hold to the last remains of her patience to avoid flipping him off.

"No, I'm not in the mood to swim right now. Take me home, I'm tired, and I should sleep before going to school tomorrow. We spent a little too much time here already; uncle Balthazar might get worried."

Ally didn't leave any room for discussions, closing the car door with a loud bang. This time she sat in the back seat, being near Deimos was the worst idea ever. She couldn't keep her mind off the last day's events. Arex acted like he was interested in her, and now Deimos was playing with her as well. There must be something under their behavior; guys in her previous school never showed any affection or warm feelings. Of course, her being the princess was another reason for them to avoid her, but it still didn't make any sense. How is that possible when two guys like her, or at least pretend to like her, simultaneously?

"Hey, what happened?" Deimos got in the driver's seat and drove out of the forest. Ally kept quiet, looking outside the window.
He didn't pressure her to talk more than they did, understanding that he might have crossed the line.

*"You're stupid; she's only sixteen, dude,"* A voice invaded his mind, mocking him and laughing at his frown. Deimos tried his best to look unaffected, so Ally wouldn't figure out that his beast was going for a contact.

*"Where the fuck have you been? You've been silent for weeks, and now, out of nowhere, you pop up in my mind. Do you have any idea how worried I was?"* Deimos spat back, ignoring the remarks the beast pointed out in the first place. Both of them had very different views of life; therefore, they did argue a lot. But this was the first time when his beast disappeared without having an actual reason or arguing with his human.

*"Of course you didn't hear a thing I said. Aren't you worried about our little princess? I mean dude, you'll ruin her. She's fucking sixteen, and you're twenty-two. Six years, my man. You ran to the training grounds as if your pants were on fire while she was probably wobbling in her mother's womb. You're dangerous; passion made you ruthless."* The beast kept trying his best to reason Deimos. Everyone knew how he was- taking many opportunities to forget and feel like he's on the high horse before falling back into obliviousness. Deimon was battling his own demons, nightmares, and issues. He wasn't the collected and calm man whom everyone saw in the school halls. He was everything besides that.
The male knew how to manipulate his thoughts and mindset to forget the hole in his heart. Being numb wasn't as good as everyone thought- it's better to feel something than nothing at all.

"I didn't intend to do anything with that girl; I'm not that stupid. She's a damn princess, way too out of our league. And I wasn't about to fuck her if that's what you're so worried about. Having a little fun, messing around is alright, but I can't have feelings, remember? We can't have them. I'm sure you don't want to feel weak or miserable because someone walked out on you." Deimos reminded his beast of the reasons why both of them didn't have feelings anymore.

He used to be a happy kind of person. Everything ends when the time comes, so does someone's happiness. They had to face too many difficulties on their way and way too much hurt to open themselves up again. If a person knows too much about you, they will use the information against you sooner or later. Deimos was a warrior, one of the best. But the biggest problem he faced was his passion for opportunities to forget. Aside from passion, there was a weak fire in him, which kept him alive. Sadly the fire seemed to burn brighter when he got closer to the princess. The closeness made his heart beat a little stronger. It was definitely a problem of another level now. Deimos kept thinking about changing his job to one where he wouldn't meet Ally anymore.

"My name is Ally," The princess blurted out, breaking his thought bubble. He was about to reply when she smiled and thanked him for the ride back home. Only then Deimos noticed that somehow he had gotten to the Lord's house and parked the car.

He simply nodded his head, avoiding turning his head to face her. Yes, changing the job might be his brightest idea ever.

Ally got out of the car and ran to the main door. The door opened, and Mary walked out, opening her arms for the princess. Deimos couldn't move a muscle; he watched how both women interacted, laughing at something. He wanted to drive away and forget whatever happened today, but he couldn't make himself start the car again. Mary threw a glance his way, a joyful smile plastered on her lips as she waved at the young male. He returned the gesture and kept waiting when they'd enter the house.

*"You can go home, sweetheart, thank you for taking our treasure home safely. You're late, but that can be our little secret, I won't tell Balthazar if you won't,"* Mary's voice sounded through their mind-link. She winked at the young male, making him chuckle.
Mary and Balthazar were one of his closest shifters. They always acted so polite and helped out whenever needed. Deimos tried his best to return the favor, yet it never made him feel like it was enough.

*"I will in a bit, just trying to make sure that there isn't any danger around. I promised Lord Balthazar that I'd guard the house until I see her stepping inside. I don't mind waiting for that if you, ladies, want to spend some more time together there."* Deimos replied in a low voice. He was nothing but polite whenever Mary spoke to him. The funny part was that he didn't like older people, nor their company. Lord and his mate managed to prove to him that it wasn't as bad as he thought at first. Now, he used to visit them on a daily basis.

Mary nodded her head and smirked, opening the door wider, waiting when Ally would get inside. Before anyone could move- Ally's best friend wan downstairs, literally jumping on the young woman.

"You've been away for so long I almost died of boredom. I noticed the hottie sitting in the car from my window and had to check him out. Who the fuck is that nice piece of ass there?" The woman spoke, pointing the finger at Deimos.

"I don't know him any good, my uncle does. He took me home after I kinda got myself into trouble today," Ally looked down at her feet, switching her weight from one leg to another. She bit onto her lip nervously, making Deimos groan as he noticed the action. So innocent yet so seductive at the same time. The only thought that held him back from claiming Ally was her rank and age. If she would be at least eighteen- he wouldn't give a single fuck about her being a princess.

"Oooh, I think he's into you, Ally. I don't get it, why are you the one who's getting the nice dudes always?" Ally kept complaining, crossing her arms in front of her chest. The frown on the young woman's face deepened, making her look like an angry toddler.

''Okay, first of all- he is not into me or whatever your sick brain came up with just now. He just took me home since my uncle told him to. Second- I haven't met a guy who wasn't interested in you, not me. Finally, the last but not least- if you'd go out of the house, instead of throwing temper tantrums, you'd find yourself the perfect boyfriend you keep on whining about so damn much!" Ally spat back at her friend as if there was no tomorrow. She loved her best friend, but being this close to a woman was tiring. They led such different lives, sometimes it seemed to be impossible to be her friend.

"Whatever," Sally snarled and grabbed her friend's wrist, pulling her inside the house. When the door closed- Deimos drove away, in minutes reaching his own home.

"What is your problem, Sal? I don't get you at times. We're here to graduate not to think about guys, especially older ones. I want to have a peaceful life for as long as possible. Is that really too much to ask?" Ally dropped her body on the nearest sofa, massaging her temples in frustration.

"I don't have a problem; I'm just a little jealous that you went to get the damn paperwork and some hottie took you home. On the first damn day, how is that possible?" Sally turned her back to the princess and rushed upstairs. The only idea the woman had was to sit in her room, locking the door and thinking. Ally always had the best friends, the best things, and the best family. Her family was wealthy, but that's about where everything stopped. Her parents didn't care about things the young woman did or her hopes and dreams. Sometimes Sally felt like her mother's overpriced jewelry.

Ally was too tired to follow her friend, especially since she was throwing yet another fit. Mary suggested she take some time and rest. Ally walked back to her room and jumped on the bed. She tried to sleep, but the thoughts kept her away from the idea itself. The young woman got out of the bed, approached her closet and let her eyes roam around it. A bright smile crept on her lips after she noticed the one thing she was looking for. The princess mind-linked Mary and explained where she was going and around what time she would return. Ally changed into the swimming suit, threw on a dress, and left the house. She was grateful for how near the like actually was, heading straight for the same place, this time alone.

When she finally got there- she took off the dress and threw it on the ground, walking towards the lake's sandy shore. When her feet touched the water, Ally shivered in delight. It has been years since the last time when she swam. The young woman was about to lose herself in the relaxing feeling of the warm lake water when a twig snapped to her right. She was ready to attack, but before anything happened, large arms wrapped around her body and a face was hidden in the crook of her neck.
"I prefer you without layers of clothing."
