19. Wait and see.

"Fenrir, we have to talk. Now." Enraged, Lilith burst into his cabinet in the middle of the meeting. Most of the men, sitting across the large table eyed her suspiciously, while the other threw death stares at the woman. Lilith wasn't the one to let others stomp over her as if she was dirt under their feet. So the woman did the most reasonable thing she could think of an adult doing- she flipped them all off.
The grin on her lips widened as she watched the jaws drop. Men like that disgusted Lilith, that was one of the reasons why she didn't want to stay around the love of her life. As much as it hurt- living among those scums and the toxic environment wasn't one of her dreams.

"Gentlemen, you may leave. I'll announce when the next meeting will happen. Enough for today." Fenrir spoke up. His voice held so much power no one from his counsellors dared to talk back. The men collected their belongings and left the office one by one; all of them bowing their heads.
"So, asides from you looking like a fucking hottest woman alive when you flipped off those old farts, what was it what you wanted to talk about? Seems pretty urgent." The male eyed her from the top of her head to the bottom of her legs. He bit down his lip as his eyes travelled over her delicate curves. Fenrir tapped on his lap, waiting for Lilith to take her place.

What the male didn't expect was her stepping closer, moving her hips in the most seductive way as she did. As soon as Lilith got close enough, she raised her hand and her palm collided with Fenrir's cheek, leaving a bright red mark on it.
The male growled but didn't move an inch, giving her the luxury of a warning. She didn't back down, nor her hateful facial expression faded. She was set on a goal and, for now, Fenrir had no idea what was it.

"Woman, I'll give you a minute to explain the fuck is going on. Crashing my meeting and showing those old fuckers where their place is- that's hot, I have to give you a point for that. But slapping me without a damn reason is something I won't tolerate. Explain." His nostrils flared, and lip trembled as he spoke. It wasn't the first time when Lilith saw the male in such an enraged state, but she didn't care, even if she would get hurt.

"Without a damn reason, huh? Have you lost your mind? Why don't you use a minute of your time and for once make those brain cells of yours work! Think about what I might have found out to make me this angry. I'm waiting. And don't you think about playing tricks on me- one sudden movement and I'm gone. Don't forget that I can escape this place with my eyes closed. Don't forget that I can and will fade away until the next time when I'll need you." Lilith crossed her arms in front of her chest, tapping her feet against the cold concrete floor. She frowned, staring right into his eyes. The woman didn't care how wrong or challenging she was acting- all she cared about was answers.

"What are you talking about, woman? Are you on your damn period again? If that's so just go to the kitchen, I literally just filled the shelves with chocolate and all that crap you eat. I don't hold any responsibility for your Satans sacrifice waterfall. If you're not on your period and that's my fault- we can talk about it. I don't mind having more little monsters with your grumpy ass." Fenrir grinned, feeling like a winner before finding out the reason for Lilith's anger. The male loved to tease and annoy her more than anyone else, her facial expressions we're worth every slap he would receive in the future.

"Wow, you're an idiot. Whenever there's a problem, or I get angry- you assume it's my period or anything connected to sex. Keep on acting like a fucking donkey, and you won't see this pussy ever again." She turned her back to him, ready to leave. As much as Lilith didn't felt like talking to Fenrir anymore, she couldn't allow herself to leave before reminding why she entered the cabinet in the first place. There was a severe issue she wanted to discuss but found herself being made fun of. The woman took a deep breath and shook her head as she spoke up: "I came here to discuss something serious. I didn't want to end up being the one you'd make fun out of. I'm not here for your entertainment, Fenrir. I'm not here to walk around on my tippy toes and be the perfect, submissive whore you're dreamed of. If you want me around- accept that I'm equal."

"I'm sorry, all I wanted was to tease you a little. You know how I am- always acting like an idiot, saying whatever pops in my mind without thinking. I'm sorry, love." He sighed, silently begging the Gods for Lilith to turn around and face him again. Sometimes his jokes were too rough or hurtful, but he never intended to hurt the woman who stood in front of him. Fenrir wanted for them to be a real family- a mother, a father and their son. The perfect combination to live for the rest of his life in happiness. Lilith stood silent, probably overthinking things or choosing her words way too carefully. Fenrir, the same as her, was lost in the bubble of his thoughts. After a while, the realisation finally hit him.

"This isn't about the bet, is it?" He questioned her, raising an eyebrow.

"The bet?" Lilith spoke slowly, making a wave of shivers travel down his spine. She didn't turn around, her back still facing the man who paled in front of her.

"Alright, I made a stupid bet with some of my friends. Whoever catches the damn rabbit first will win. I might have forgotten to tell them that I have that same rabbit here. It's a sort of entertainment for me- I love watching how those idiots fight over something they haven't seen." February confessed about his childish ways.

Lilith chuckled, thinking about how immature the powerful male could be. No matter what, he never failed to entertain her. The woman kept quiet, thinking about how to start the conversation. Anger and rage faded whenever he smiled, but it didn't make the situation less severe.

"It's not about the bet, even though it does sound fun. I'm talking about something way grander. Something you've been hiding from me for quite a while now. You did something before I arrived before we made a deal to share everything we have. Information and decisions included. But instead, I'm left out. I don't see myself sitting next to you, discussing the issues and trying to come up with a solution. I don't see your marionette's being a little more respectful towards me, despite wearing this stupid crown. Who do you think I am? A machine which will spread her legs whenever you wish to have some fun? A soulless creature who will keep in giving you children, no matter how it hurts or how much negative impact it might leave on my health? Should I be your maid? Perhaps I should be your personal chef, ready any moment when the ruler requires a snack? A babysitter for children and your people? Who am, I, Fenrir?" Lillith's voice was as calm as never, the one thing what made him sweat. When a woman spoke in such an emotionless manner- there was nothing good to follow, and Fenrir knew that all too well.

"No, you're wrong. You are my mate, the love of my life and the reason why I'm still alive. You are the moon to my night and the light to my darkness. You are the one who gives me the purpose to wake up each morning. You are the mother of my child. You are the woman without whom I couldn't live; I'd spend a thousand lives and more to find you. You are my smile and the truth in my words. You are my reason to become a better man. You are all that and nothing you just mentioned yourself. Now, please, let's sit down and have a serious talk without arguments. I don't want to fight and watch you leave in a bad mood. If those things are what bothers you, let's just find a way to work it out. But honestly, I feel like that isn't the reason for your sudden visit. Please, Lilith, I'm begging you. Come here." His words nearly made her crack. The desperation undertone in his voice hurt the woman. She sighed and bit onto her lip, fighting the urge to end up in his arms. She had a goal, and she wouldn't stop at anything before reaching it.

"No, I'm not bothered by all of those things. That's my way of pointing out how unfair life here is. That's me, pointing out, why I feel like your second chance not first. Our son is grown, he will take your place soon enough, but you keep acting as if it won't happen. After that- you'll be left with nothing but me. What if I'll leave before you decide to give me the respect I deserve? Sure, anyone can judge me for things I did it the past, but forgetting that everyone can make mistakes is even worse. We all do have to wring decisions or chosen paths in our lifetime, Fenrir. Now, you have two choices. One- I'll leave this cabinet and your lands without taking a glance back. Two- you'll think and bring up the topic which enraged me this much. So, what will it be?" Lilith stared at the door with newly built hatred in her eyes. The woman could quickly burn a hole in them. The atmosphere in the cabinet was tense enough to cut it with a dull knife.

"Don't leave; I know what you're talking about. For my defence, I never thought of your reaction- Hell, I never assumed that you might come back. I did what's the best for everyone, including him. How was I supposed to make a decision if you weren't around for all this damn time? The boy needed his mother, but you were never around. I tried my best to raise a decent person out of him; I had to become both parents instead of being a rather and father alone. What was I supposed to do? Grow out my hair, grow a pair of boobs and fake the one person he missed the most? Hate me as much as you want, but you were never around for me to ask did you agree. I tried to look for you, I never stopped searching, and you know that! You kept hiding your fucking scent to avoid me till the day you'd need me. Sure, let's draw a line between good and bad people in this story, but I refuse to stay on the side, which isn't anywhere close the best intentions. I did it all, don't blame me for mistakes if you don't want to be blamed yourself. We both fucked up big time, okay?" Fenrir grabbed the sides of his head and groaned in frustration. He had been trying so hard for their son- the make often found himself working through the nights. He sacrificed sleep, health and the time of his life to make sure that their son would be the happiest boy out there.

"I know, no need to remind me how much I fucked up. I won't remind you anything, but I want to know why. Why did you decide for him? Why couldn't he be the one to find a bride on his own? For fuck's sake, we have no idea is that girl good enough for our son, in the first place. How can I know that she isn't after him? How can I know that she won't stab my son in the back as soon as they get officially married. Moreover, I haven't seen my baby for days and its starting to piss me off more than I'd admit." Lilith finally turned around, her eyes searching for traces if emotions on his face and in his eyes.
The male didn't move; he started at his mate with the most intense look in his eyes ever. Fenrir sighed, stood up and approached Lilith, cupping her chin.

"Because darling, we will rule over everywhere. Just wait and see."
