27. Breaking the circle.

Ally woke up with a loud gasp leaving her lips. She tilted her head to the right, her eyes widening at the view in front of her. Comfortably wrapped into her sheets was peacefully sleeping Wrath.
The male didn't look half as scary without the blood covering his body, and his eyes tightly closed. His lips parted just enough for Ally to see the little mist his breath turned into in the cold room.

Without thinking, the Princess tried to sneak out of her bed. She planned to run to her father or leave the territory. Maybe if Ally ran away- the Princess would manage to lead the deadly male away from everyone she cares for. The worst scenario would be him using Ally's family as bait, but she would give in instantly if that would ever happen. Ally barely moved her body and a strong, heavy arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her into a rock-hard chest. The male sighed in content but didn't say a word. Ally held her breath, waiting for him to cuss her out for the sorry attempt of escape she planned.

"You should breathe if you're not trying to attempt suicide. If you are, please go for something more interesting. Jump in the ocean, for fuck's sake." Wrath whispered in her ear, sending a wave of shivers down her spine. The male's morning voice was raspy and low, but for some reason, Ally found it comforting.

"Okay." The Princess whispered, letting out a shaky breath. Just because she did enjoy his company and absolutely fell for his voice, it didn't mean that she wasn't afraid. So far, Wrath hasn't done anything but tricked her into becoming his chosen one. Other than that, the male was relatively gentle and caring, at least while speaking to Ally. He might be a little rough around the edges, but the Princess felt like the man sleeping in her bed might be more than just a monster everyone's so terrified of.

"Good girl." Wrath moved his body closer if that was possible. He leaned to her neck, imitating the action any other werewolf male did to their mates. He inhaled deeply, shivering in delight. Ally understood that the monster wasn't any different from her people; it was and would always be about the scent of one's body.

"For your information, I am not a dog. There's no need to call me a good girl. I'm not one to depend on someone's acknowledgment also." Ally snarled, as the idea of Wrath going around and using pet names on her invaded her mind. The young woman never likes someone giving her nicknames, and she wouldn't allow any other man to walk into her life and call her by any either.

"Oh, trust me, that wasn't my intention. You know, calling you a dog. I just took it upon myself to tell you that you're doing a great job. At breathing." Wrath grinned, pissing Ally off even more. She could feel his grin widening against her skin, sending yet another wave of pleasurable shivers down her spine. The young woman didn't want to become easily affected by the stranger, but maybe they did share a unique bond, and therefore she felt so weak in his arms. Ally knew what she was capable of, especially when it came to self-defense, but when he was holding her like that.. Ally felt like she needed him, his touch, and protection.

"You're such an asshole! Leave." Ally tried to keep her voice low, noticing how dark the room actually was. She woke up in the middle of the night, and disturbing everyone else's sleep was the last thing she wanted to do.

"Because it's getting late? No, don't think so. I'll rather stay here, holding you as close as I can." The amusement and joyful undertone faded from his voice. Wrath clenched to Ally's body as if his life depends on their closeness. The male growled in warning when she tried to get out of his hold. He wasn't giving off the positive vibe as earlier; now, he was the monster that invaded the nightmares of so many.

"Listen, someone might enter this bedroom at any time. People here are quite overprotective of me, especially my father. Since the day I was born, everyone kept checking on me at nights, which hasn't changed as the years went by. You do understand what they might think about the scene in front of them, right?" Ally sighed in defeat. Maybe if the young woman couldn't psychically force him to leave, she might try to convince the male. Who knows how fast a thinker he is? Perhaps Wrath is strong but pretty slow at catching up when someone tries to trick him.

Ally could only hope for the best. If her father entered the bedroom, he would think that she and the male were romantically connected.
But the thing was that she didn't want anything to do with Wrath. Of course, she obviously felt something, and so did he, but that didn't matter for the Princess. Just a while ago, she cried over someone who was never meant to be hers in the first place. And now? Now, there's a complete stranger in her bed, making her forget all about Deimos. Even if it hurt, Ally didn't want to forget Deimos. Even after one day, the man left a trace after himself; one Ally would try to follow for the rest of her life, if not Wrath.

"We both know it's not what it seems; we both know what's between the sheets. Aside from that, what would they say, think, what would they do? If anything happened between us, would it be trouble if they knew?" Wrath stared deep into Ally's eyes. The Princess felt like he managed to capture her soul with one look alone. The more time he spent next to her, the more confused Ally became. The young woman felt like a slut- having so many men surrounding her, love interests changing so quickly, and she was going along everything. Ally tried to look away, but Wrath grabbed her chin in a surprisingly gentle hold and made her keep looking into his eyes before he spoke up again. "What is it, Princess? What is the sadness for? Was it something I said? I know I am an asshole most of the time, but I do try to be as decent as I can be near you. Please don't be sad because of me. I'll try better. Listen, many people, shifters, and any other being you might know will talk a lot of shit about me. Well, most of it might be right. Alright, everything they say will be true, mostly all bullshit about me being murdered and destroyer of cities or species. There are things I can't change, I am who I am, but it doesn't mean that I'll intentionally hurt you, because I won't. There are no promises about behavior behind the scenes, but I'll be the best I can be whenever with you. I'm sure you know how important soulmates are, and since you're mine- I would give my life for you. If only you would understand that you were mine since the day you were born. This whole trick had to be played off because of those damn shifters who broke the circle." For the whole time, as Wrath spoke, he kept staring into her eyes. Ally could easily see and hear how sincere he was. There wasn't even a hint of a lie in his eyes or voice. Sure, there was a possibility that the male was a great liar, but what if he wasn't?

"Broke the circle? What is that supposed to mean?" Ally raised an eyebrow, trying to get out of his grip. The feeling of sadness faded as her curiosity perked up.

"Yeah, your mother and some more shifters broke the circle. Oh, don't forget those damn Watchers, they were part of it as well. I knew that you were mine even before you were born, creepy, isn't it? I might represent a deadly sin, but that doesn't mean that Selene despises me enough to torture me till someone else would be strong enough to take my place. Not that it might happen anytime soon, for the last five thousand years, no one could anyway. Anyway, she did destine me a soulmate; it was just the fact that I wouldn't know when she appears. It might have been during the first years of my existence or after thousands, as now. Maybe I had to wait for so long because of my vile ways, or maybe she knew that I was waiting for something more than any other woman. Perhaps Selene knew that I was waiting for you, Princess Ally." The more he spoke, the more Ally noticed about his ways. Wrath was skillful with his words, making Ally smile and blush like an idiot whenever he said something nice. But then again, he wasn't one who gave out the information as fast as she wanted to know everything. Not only he loved torturing people psychically, but also he did love to keep the suspense up.

"How does that make any sense? You were waiting for me for a long, long time, I understand. But why can't you just tell me everything as it is without a backstory?" Ally whined, growing irritated. She became impatient but remained calm; the male drew circles on her cheeks with his thumbs. There was something about his smile that made Ally melt and grow worried at the same time. It wasn't fear of his doings or nature; it was fear of which one she was. How many women before her got to hear the same words? How many women he adored, spent nights with, and killed hours after?

"It will make sense, patience, love. You have to wait for how long I was waiting because of one simple reason. Five thousand years is a long time, Princess, and now, when I have you- I won't let go of you. It's a warning that I'll follow you till the end of Earth, but I will never stop or back down. You're mine and mine only, wherever you go, whatever you do- I might be there, watching in the shadows. You can try to run, but you can't hide my beautiful wildflower. Now, back to the topic, which seemed so much more critical for you.
Breaking the circle- it's a thing shifters do if they find out to whom the newborn would be destined and decide to avoid it. As soon as your mother was brought to the Watcher's territory, I knew it was you. Haven't you ever thought why you were so brave, so outspoken and how you could defeat anyone in your way? Those mated to deadly sins would take part in their power, even if it's just a tiny part. And so did you; I kept watching over, making sure your mother would stay healthy for the entire time of pregnancy, but that damn shifter found the fucking prophecy. They broke the circle by performing that damned emergency C-section, making sure you won't be born on the night you were supposed to. Ally, your mother's due date was on the night of the Blood Moon, the same as the night we met. I had to wait until the next moon to see you in person. Don't you think that waiting thousands of years wasn't torturous enough? I got to watch you grow up, become the most gorgeous woman I had ever laid my eyes upon. And then, I got to watch you going out with someone, kissing other men, and crying over those who weren't supposed to get close to you. You are mine, and I'll rather give up my life than let anyone else touch what's mine." The tone of his voice changed from rage and anger to sadness and hurt. Ally kept trying to remind herself that the man was a monster and she shouldn't give in to his sweet talk as fast. But she couldn't help it and feel sad for him. Maybe those were his emotions, playing tricks on her, but perhaps those were her own.

"I- I didn't know a thing about any of that. No one ever spoke about the day when I was born, nor mentioned any emergency c-sections." She stuttered as the young woman's bottom lip trembled. Ally felt ashamed fro things she had done, even though she didn't know that she could be destined to someone. True mates happened so rarely, it was a miracle, if they ever did. Her father and mother were true, destined mates, but there was none any known since them. For the first time, Ally felt ashamed of her lack of knowledge on a specific topic. The topic being her life and whole existence, making her feel even worse. The Princess squeezed her eyes shut, trying to fight the tears. Since she came back home, there was nothing but fear of the unknown surrounding her, but the tables turned as soon as she got to know more. Everyone hated Wrath, but Ally fell for him little by little, even if she wouldn't acknowledge that.

When she opened her eyes, the tight grip on her was gone, along with the Wrath. Her bed suddenly didn't feel the same. It wasn't as comfortable as any other night. The air in the bedroom became cold, and everything that seemed so familiar felt distant. It was as if his absence made her feel out of place. Alone, scared, and completely hopeless.

*"Don't worry; we will get to see him again. I hope we will.."* Ally's wolf spoke up, sadness in her voice hurt the human side. Both of them wanted the infamous monster to stay close, no matter how much others would warn them or how many awful things they would speak about. Wrath was their mate, and they were his.
