❤Valentine's special - "This is all my fult." ❤
"That could have been a great name. I questioned many of my men, asking for their opinion and everyone agreed with me." Darius crossed his arms in front of his chest, watching the three-month-old baby peacefully slumber on his mother's breasts. It was clear that their son would be a true mommy's boy- the baby wouldn't stop crying until his mother held him. No matter how hard the deadly sin tried, he never managed to calm down the raging child.

"The only reason why those men agreed is that they're afraid of you, Darius. Did you forget the last conversation about this? It feels like a never-ending circle, always the same issue. I chose a great name, no more discussions." Ally tried her best to stay calm. Waking up Noah would be a nightmare- at times, the young mother felt like her arms would reattach from her body after endless hours of carrying their child. She could get a bit of rest only at moments as such, yet, her mate thought that it was the perfect time to keep on proving his point.

"They're not afraid of me, love. My men respect me, that's all." Forgetting the main issue running through his mind, Darius decided to defend his position as a leader.

"Respect comes mostly from fear. What would happen to those men if they disagreed with you, huh?" Ally rolled her eyes. Starting an argument early in the morning had become a part of their everyday life. Their relationship reminded a rocky path- somehow always facing new struggles, finding more and more topics to disagree with. Lately, her mate spent the nights on the sofa in the library rather than in bed next to her. Everything he did irritated the young woman, no matter how hard he tried.
About a week ago, Darius and Ally had a fight over coffee- ending in high tones, both of them even discussed the possibility of them not being mates after all. Ally watched her parents as she grew up, the Royal couple had their moments, but they never fought as much as she and Darius did.

"I still think my idea was better." Darius hissed. The male couldn't find even a piece of information to hold onto and win the argument. Both of them were too prideful to admit their mistakes when needed- fighting over dominance, forgetting the reasons why they were together in the first place.

While Ally was pregnant, everything seemed to be perfect. Despite the struggles they faced, the couple found time to discuss the future, planning their life together, and having romantic dates from time to time. Most of those dates were a movie night or dinner set in their bedroom since the woman was forbidden from walking too much or traveling somewhere, but it still felt perfect. Now, he didn't feel like going out of his way to get her flowers or set up the date. Ally didn't feel like listening or trying anymore. At times, it felt as if they tolerated each other only for the sake of their son.

"Optimus Prime, the damn robot from a movie, huh? How is that name better than Noah? Darius, you're as delusional as a man could be; please stop. I'm not in the mood for another argument. If we won't stop, that's exactly the road we will end standing on. Please, hold the baby; I need to use the bathroom. I've been waiting to go for an hour," Ally glanced at the bathroom door, avoiding meeting her mate's eyes. Despite the complicated relationship, she still felt hurt whenever she noticed a look of sadness in his eyes.

Darius swallowed his pride and nodded his head. The deadly sin had more on his mind, more things to add, but Ally was right. They had to stop. Slowly, the male approached her and carefully took the child from her. Technically, Noah was supposed to be a toddler a couple months after birth, but since both of his parents weren't quite the same breed and some medical issues appeared along the way- the boy reminded a one-year-old. Thankfully, he didn't stir or wake up as his father held him. Darius sat on the bed and blankly stared at the wall, waiting for Ally to come back. He had many responsibilities, many people to meet each day, and constant fighting made him want to be even busier than he was. It felt calmer, easier to say away from the woman he loved from the bottom of his heart. As the thoughts went through his mind, the deadly sin didn't notice how long his mate spent in the bathroom.

One of the nannies knocked on the bedroom door and invited herself in, thinking that Ally might be there alone with sleeping Noah. The woman bowed and announced that the boy was supposed to wake up and have a bath. This was one of the rare things that servants did to help with the baby- giving Ally extra twenty minutes of sleep every day. Darius kissed the top of his son's head and handed the baby to the woman, watching how she carefully carried the boy away from their bedroom. Noah had a beautiful bedroom with an expansive bathroom of his own- filled with toys and baby products all to their prince.

The male looked at his watch and hissed under his breath, noticing that he was late for the meeting. Whenever so many things piled on him, Darius didn't think- he rushed outside the bedroom and nearly ran to the office.

Some suspicious activities were noticed around the territories- both his and the King's. Fenrir left the Underworld as soon as he got a chance; nobody knew where he was, so the previous ruler was the first to hold as the suspect.

"Gentlemen, I'm sorry for being late again, but family comes first," Darius announced his arrival as soon as he opened the office door.

Two older men sat in front of his desk, nodding their heads in agreement. That was the main reason why the deadly sin liked them- the men never asked questions about his private life, always keeping strictly to the topics of their meetings.

"Good morning, Lord," one of the men stood up and reached his hand towards Darius. Each person he met had a way of his own to address the deadly sin. Technically, other than the ruler, he had no official title, so Darius never cared how others chose to address him.

"Please, Leo, no need for formalities; we're practically a family. Now, what do you got for me?" Darius sat in his seat, eyeing the men. He didn't have a pile of paperwork on his desk as he usually would, so the deadly sin didn't expect a large amount of new incoming information.

"Not much. So far, it seems that everything is in its place. We have a dozen men guarding the temple since someone tried to steal a statue from there. Other than that, there really isn't a thing going wrong. We're not sure, but most of the council think that something might be happening or being planned behind our backs right now. We should be careful, so should King- many want your or his position. Greed for power makes people blind, Darius." Leo stated. His friend, Matteo, kept quiet most of the time. Darius could recall only one time when the man spoke up, and even that happened before an attack.

"Since you've mentioned Greed, I think u should meet up with an old friend of mine, don't you think so, Leo?" Wrath smiled, almost sure that he could be able to dig to the bottom of this if he met another deadly sin.

"Up to you, all up to you. If you don't mind, we should get going- there's plenty of things we need to deal with, and you have more meetings. We will bring more information next week if we manage to find out anything new." Leo and Matteo moved as if an umbilical cord held them together. Darius used to joke around about them having a team for synchronized swimming- that's how identical their movements were.

The deadly sin nodded his head and sank deeper into the chair, thinking about the issues he has to face. Burying himself in work wouldn't fix the problems in his personal life, but it might give his mate time to cool off. As soon as Ally crossed his mind, Darius sighed in defeat. There had to be something how to make things right again. There had to be a way for him to want to fight for their love as he did at the very beginning. The deadly sin dreaded the day when both of them would take each other for granted, understanding the mistakes they made when it would be too late.

Perhaps it would be better if he went back to the bedroom, admitted that he has been a prick, and begged for her forgiveness? The thought ran through his mind in different scenarios, leading to way too many outcomes when finally, Darius jumped on his feet. He sat in the bedroom for at least twenty minutes, and Ally didn't leave the bathroom- he didn't hear the shower going off, so that couldn't be the case. An intense wave of fear struck him like a bolt of lightning. What if something happened?

Darius couldn't lose time; he ran out of his office, smashing every door on his way to pieces like a mad man. He didn't have time to waste on opening doors or dodging objects; the male left a path of destruction as he headed for his goal. When Darius reached the bedroom, he kicked the door open, surprised to see that his mate wasn't resting in the bed as she usually would. The bathroom door was still locked, so he had to break it down to reach Ally.

The view in front of him shook the male to his core- his beloved wife laid on the tile floor unconscious. The color left her skin; Ally's body seemed lifeless, as pale as never. Darius carefully lifted the young woman, holding her bridal style, and ran towards the hospital wing. On his way there, he ran into the woman who took care of their son. Thankfully- the boy was asleep and didn't have an idea what was happening to his mother. Frankly, even Darius had no idea what happened to her.

The woman held the boy closer to her chest, watching her master in terror. She knew that no matter how often they fought- Darius would rather die than hurt his mate, but even that didn't ease the woman's mind.
The deadly sin ran as if his life depended on his speed. It did; he had no idea what he would do and if he would be capable of living if he lost the woman he loved. When he finally reached the hospital wing, his own men had to hold him back, restrain the man, so he wouldn't try to run into the hospital room. The doctors needed to keep him away if they wanted to find out what happened to Ally.

As nurses and doctors ran around the hospital, frantically screaming and bringing all kinds of equipment inside the room, Darius kept fighting against his men. It took five hours for him to calm down and sit back. He didn't move or talk; an occasional growl left his lips in a warning for everyone to stay away from him. The male's eyes didn't leave the room door, waiting for any doctor to get out and explain what happened to his mate. At one point, the deadly sin wanted to check on his son, but he couldn't- the boy would question his father about the whereabouts of his mother. Darius couldn't deal with the heartbreak and pain he would face if he told the boy the truth. Noah was too young to understand and face situations as such.

The more time passed, the angrier Darius became. Why would they take so much time to find out what happened to his wife? Why did no one bother to approach him and tell him anything? What in the Hell was happening in that room for so many hours?

The wait was killing him- Darius attempted to break into the room countless times, yet his men stood by his side, holding the man back. It took a lot of time and effort, but finally, when a warrior explained to him how the doctors need time to save Ally, the deadly sin sat back again.

The clock struck ten; it was their son's bedtime. Little Noah would ask for his mother to read a bedtime story soon. At that point, Darius started blaming himself for being so careless and not checking on his wife before leaving for the meeting. If only he approached the door and asked if she was alright. If only he was the mate she deserved, something like this wouldn't happen.

Around midnight, the nanny went to the hospital to ensure Darius that Noah was asleep and didn't fuss too much about his mother's absence. The woman tried to question Darius what happened to Ally, so he told her as much as he knew. She was old enough to be his mother; sometimes, he did feel as if she was- especially at moments as such. The woman placed her hand on his shoulder and reminded him that he had to stay strong- for Ally and their son. She tried to tell him that everything would be alright, but that appeared to be more challenging to be said out loud than repeated in her thoughts. Everyone feared the worst.

When the nanny left to check on Noah, the clock struck three. Darius rose from his seat and approached the hospital room door right when the doctor finally left it. His face was emotionless, but the deadly sin caught on the hint of sorrow nearly instantly.

"Please don't tell me that.." Darius tried to speak, but his voice broke in the middle of the sentence. He felt how his eyes filled in tears, and he didn't try to fight it. The deadly sin had never cried before, but right now, he felt like he would.

The doctors placed a hand on the male's shoulder. Darius noticed the spots of blood on his clothing and nearly broke down before the man could speak. "She's stable; we will keep her in hospital for observation for a couple of days. However.." The doctor let out a heavy sigh, his bottom lip trembling.

"However what, doctor?" Darius grabbed the male's upper arms, shaking him to keep up.

"However, we couldn't save the child. We tried, but it was too late. You can go and see your wife now." The doctor averted his gaze, focusing his eyes on the blood-covered shoes he wore. This was the most difficult part of his job- announcing the loss of a loved one, even one they didn't have a chance to meet.

"She was pregnant?" Darius gasped in disbelief, letting go of the doctor and dropping his hands to his sides in defeat. He had many scenarios running through his mind, many fears to defeat, but the male never expected an outcome as such. He had no idea about the pregnancy, and if Ally knew- she would have told him.

"You didn't know? Master, your wife, she was nine weeks pregnant. We tried everything, but the bleeding was too strong, and we had to choose between her life and then baby. I'm sorry." The doctor's eyes widened. For some reason, the man was sure that Darius would have caught on to the weak heartbeat by now.

"We didn't know.." The deadly sin whispered, trying to convince himself that this wasn't a dream. Pinching himself would be too childish. If this was a dream- the pain wouldn't feel so real; he wouldn't be able to hear his heart shattering in pieces.

"You should really go and see her. She needs the support of her husband now more than ever." The doctor suggested. He had nothing but good intentions behind his words. Both Darius and Ally would be mourning over the loss.

"No, I can't," Darius whispered under his breath, shaking his head in denial.

"Please, I understand that this is much to take in. I understand the pain, but she really needs you now." The doctor stood his ground, doing his best to talk the ruler into going and seeing his wife. It was important for both of them- to stay strong and deal with everything together. As awful as everything ended, especially with the horror Ally had to go through, both of them lost something precious tonight.

"You don't understand, I won't be able to look into her eyes ever again. She doesn't want to see me; if anything, right now, she despises me. I don't think that I'll ever be able to fix this. Not anymore." Darius tried to convince the doctor that there would be a reason why he wouldn't go to that room without giving the reason out. The male didn't want to share such private details about his life, but the doctor had to understand- he couldn't go into that room.

"Why would you say such things? She's your wife; she loves you more than anyone else ever could, and nothing could change that. Please, reconsider." The doctor grabbed onto the last strand of hope, still attempting to explain the situation. It was painful for the whole team to find out that they couldn't save the baby of their rulers; imagining the parents' pain was nearly impossible.

"There's nothing to reconsider, doc. I killed our child. I didn't check on her when I should have- this is all my fault."
