61. We are waiting.

Eve broke the kiss, out of breath, panting heavily. Ares held her tightly to his body, afraid to let go. His mate was a human- indecisive, somewhat weak, but an extraordinarily stubborn human. If she would notice anything wrong, she'd try to run again. Something he couldn't let happen.

"Ares, could you give Eros the control? I get it, you want to spend some time with me, so do I, but I want to talk to him right now," Eve pleaded, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"Anything for you, mate," the beast growled, and a moment later, Eve felt the hands wrapped around her waist didn't hold her as tightly anymore. Now Eros was holding her. The man, who always made sure to be gentle, to avoid hurting her.

"Are you tired?" Eros whispered in her ear, tracing feathery kisses down her neck.
Eve was sure that if he didn't hold her, she would fall as soon as her knees went weak. His voice, his touch, his kisses- it all sent her body into overdrive.

"A little," her voice was hoarse, she leaned her head back, giving him more access to her neck.
Eros nibbled on her mark, smirking against her skin as a weak moan left her lips. Eve pulled his body incredibly close to hers, giving into the feeling of ecstasy he made her feel. No matter what she felt or thought, there was one thing Eve couldn't fight against- the reaction her body and mind had to the man. Her heart ached for him, her body burned in desire, and her mind was overtaken with thoughts about him. He became her everything and she hadn’t noticed how or when that happened.

"Let's get you to the bed then," Eros suggested, his voice sounded rather amused. He picked Eve up and carried her back to the bed, hovering over her form. His eyes turned black, meaning that Ares had managed to take over the control again. The black orbs travelled over her body with such lust; it made Eve feel self-conscious.

"We are waiting, mate," he growled, eyes glued on her breasts.

"W-waiting for what?" Eve breathed heavily, feeling how her cheeks turned bright red. The enormous man hovered over her body and looked down at her as if she was his most prized possession. At times, Eve couldn't understand why she has been chosen as the one for Eros.
She was nothing special, in her own mind- always the single, fat friend, never the centre of attention. Eros, on the other hand- wanted bachelor- she had heard enough about how many women wanted to end up in his bed. Instead of those seemingly perfect women, he had Eve.
The plain, not-so-cool human girl who was never chosen even by humans, let alone werewolves.

"We want to mate you. We don't want just sex from you; we could find any other slut for that. Eros, and I keep dreaming of the day when you will be ready to complete the mating rituals. Don't get me wrong, mate; we do enjoy having you under our body- moaning and begging for more, but there's more than that. There's more than everyday sex. When we finish the mating process- you will own us as much as we will you. Our souls will finally become one for this life and afterlife. There is a reason why the Moon Goddess chose you as mine," the sincerity in his voice nearly made Eve cry. She had to bite down on her lip to avoid crying or getting too emotional.

"Ares, you and Eros mean so much to me. I've learned to love and care for someone like I never had. But I'm not ready to mate; I'm not ready to take such responsibility yet, please give me time. I promise, I'll do my best to become the mate you want me to be. I will learn and accept whatever you throw my way; I just need a little more time to get used to this. Being a nobody and becoming a werewolves mate hours later is pretty overwhelming, you know." She couldn't look into his eyes, afraid to see the pain in them. Maybe shifters were good at hiding their genuine emotions, but they were not able to hide what their eyes spoke.

"I understand, we will wait until you are ready. I promise you won't regret that no matter when you are ready, Eve." Ares closed his eyes and kissed her forehead. As soon as his eyes opened again, Eve was met with those familiar, icy blue eyes she fell for. Eros observed her, biting onto his lower lip. Whenever he looked at her like that- Eve couldn't stop wondering what exactly he saw in her.

"Eve? Did he scare you?" He sounded genuinely worried. For a while, both of them stared into each other's eyes. Eve let out a deep, frustrated breath, breaking their eye contact. Eros grabbed her chin lightly and moved her face, forcing her to look into his eyes once again.

"What's the matter, kitten?" If Eros sounded worried just minutes ago, he now seemed more frantic, close to freaking out.

"Nothing, I'm just wondering, I can't get something out of my head," she admitted, ashamed of the thoughts she couldn't get rid of.

"You can tell me, don't be scared. I'm your soulmate; no matter what it is, I'll understand and support you. All you have to do is let me listen to whatever worries you. I want to see that bright smile on your face, the weird faces you make to amuse me, and the spark in your eyes that I've grown to adore and love. Your happiness matters to me, Eve, please don't shut me out," Eros pleaded. He would do anything for his mate, even though her indecisiveness made it hard sometimes. No matter what everyone else said, no matter how deep down she dragged him at times, he would follow her for the rest of his life.

"I'm not sure if that's a topic we should talk about. But I do want to ask something." To avoid the dreaded confession, Eve tried to dodge his questioning.

"What is it, love?"

"Are you going to break my heart?" she reminded him of a lost pup, someone with no life experience.

"That's ridiculous, Eve. How could you even think of that? How? I've been trying to do anything to prove how important you are and how I need you! For fuck's sake!" Eros snarled, getting off of the bed, grabbing the sides of his hair in frustration.

"Calm down; I just asked a simple question," Eve had no intention of starting a fight or make him misunderstand her. As soon as she understood how madly in love she was, the human girl feared nothing but being left broken.

"That wasn't just a fucking question, Eve. That was proof that you still don't trust me, you keep doubting the words I say, and my actions. Is it so difficult to understand that I'm ready to drop anything just to have you by my side? I found you a while ago, all this time I kept fighting for you, and you still act like I'm about to eat you alive. Just because there's a part of an animal in me doesn't mean that I am the animal. I have feelings, Eve! Believe it or not, but I do have those, and this shit hurts!" Eros raised his voice in frustration, making Eve flinch. What he didn't know was that Eve had been fed imaginary facts about herself for years. She couldn't believe that she deserved Eros, his love, and care.

"No, you don't understand," she shook her head, sitting up in the bed.

"Entertain me then, tell me the fuck I don't understand before I lose my mind. It's so damn hard to read your mind when I can't even do that. Talk to me, stop avoiding problems and, for once, stand up, do something. Stop running." Eve looked down at her lap, listening to his words. Tears slowly filled her eyes. Eros was right. For all her life, she had been trying to find the most natural way out. Eve tended to avoid problems and run from them. Her seemingly perfect family actually lived in a broken home. She didn't have friends because everyone kept judging her based on looks rather than personality. Everyone around her spoke about how she didn't deserve being next to Eros. From the beginning, so many people didn't see her as good enough. Did Eve see herself as good enough? Did she think that she deserved him? No, not even once did Eve have a single thought about deserving a man such as Eros.

"I don't deserve you," she finally whispered.
Eros stood in place, completely frozen- shock visible on his facial expression.

"Excuse me, what?" he mumbled, trying to find out if it was his mind playing tricks on him or was it really what Eve said.

"I don't deserve you," Eve repeated, this time her voice was louder, and the words sounded with more confidence. It seemed as if she believed and meant what she said.
Eros opened his mouth and closed it instantly, like a fish. His eyes grew wider, Ares tried to break down the wall to get on the surface. Her words pained the beast, but she managed to piss him off greatly.

"So, you think that you have the right to question the decision made by the Moon Goddess? Do you have any idea how stupid you sound right now?" Eros almost started laughing in frustration. How could Eve even think of being the one who doesn't deserve him? If anything- Eros was the one who felt unworthy.

"I'm not questioning anything, and I don't sound stupid just because I decided to speak my mind. Since when can't I have an opinion just because of your faith in some old lady connected to your beloved moon? I'm serious, Eros. You could do so much better," she sighed, finally brave enough to look up and face him. His facial expression was rock solid, with no emotions at all. When he spoke, it sounded as if Eve had hurt him, yet now he looked unbreakable. Eros crossed his arms in front of his chest, and a low, dangerous growl formed in his chest, warning Eve to keep quiet.

"Listen carefully- if you ever dare to bring this bullshit up ever again, I will bend you over my damn knee and spank those unholy thoughts out of you. Forget it! You were fucking made for me, and the same goes right back at you- I am for you. We are meant to be together. I fucking love you; Eve, I'm ready to kiss the ground where you walk if that's what it takes to prove my point. How thick can your skull be? Why is it so difficult to understand such easy things and forget about stupid insecurities? Why? Haven't I tried enough to prove to you how much I love you?" Eros approached Eve, a slight smirk growing on his lips. Of course, he knew how insecure his mate was- the unneeded opinions and suggestions from people around didn't help her at all. He had to do something; he had to show her how truly breath-taking she was. Fuck everyone else- only she mattered. Eros crawled on the bed, nearing Eve. His lips didn't touch hers, not even close. Eve noticed the slight change in his eye color, wondering what he was up to. Eros parted his lips, his canines extended. The situation escalated too fast- Eve couldn't even follow what happened. A sharp pain on her neck, soon followed by a growl from Eros. He licked her neck, kissing the sore spot here and there.

"What was that? What did you do?" Eve asked, rather calmly.

"Pending mate mark. It's deeper than a regular mark. Just making sure you'll see yourself as I do soon enough." He smirked, pecking her lips and pulling her into his chest.
