6.Big bad wolf.
Eros extended his arm but dropped it in defeat before it reached his mates back. He wanted to comfort Eve, hold her close, and promise that everything will be alright- he would make sure of it. Now that she had seen his biggest secret, Eros lost hope that she would ever want someone like him.
He bent down, grabbed the mask, and rushed away, closing the door behind him with such strength that windows glass shattered from the force of impact. His angered steps shook the tiny human's house, Eve's parents stepped out of his way, holding each other in a tight embrace.
"Get her ready, inform her about the protocol. I'll return within a week to collect my mate- with or without her consent," Eros forced his hands in fists, hoping that will prevent him from causing more damage.
He left the house angered. Eros wasn't angry at Eve- she had reacted him just the way he suspected. She's just a human, after all.
"Calm down; you scared mate!" Ares growled from the back of his mind. The beast felt betrayed by his human- emotions had gotten the best of him.
"She will come with us; she has no other choice," Eros replied calmly. The beast wasn't going to let the matter go.
He was caged inside the human body and had no say, whatsoever, on how they act. Eros had hidden him so deeply- trying to force his way to the surface might kill Ares.
"You fucked up! Have you forgotten she is not only yours but also my mate?" Enraged, Ares tried to take over the control. He would do anything for his mate, and now, even if he dies, he will hold her for the last time. Whatever it takes.
"We will return within a week. Until then, I need time to rearrange furniture and make sure that the house is up to her liking."
Even though Eros was close to breaking and turning back, he couldn't. She needs time, and so does he. Eve will come home with him, but until then, she has to understand that this is her future- he is her future.
Ares sighed and hid away, shutting Eros out. Both of them were hurt and disappointed. Nobody had ever said that a wolf, who claimed a human mate, would have a comfortable life. Instead of going back home, Eros decided to visit his mother.
As usual, he had his mask and hood covering his face. Disappearing within the masses was impossible for him, being taller and bigger than any regular werewolf was convenient only at times- but not today.
He chose the shortcut and, within five minutes, approached the packhouse. Eros debated whether to ditch the idea and focus on his own house, rather than listening to his mother's rant, but the change of mind came too late- his mother stood in the large doorway, a sour frown on her face. He did see this coming.
"Come in; we shall talk in the office," as usual, his mother didn't greet him, instead chose to get straight down to business.
"Lead the way, Mother," Eros whispered to himself, following her energetic footsteps. The woman walked down the hall, smiling at everyone, who bowed their heads in respect for their Luna.
When they reached the office, she opened the door and slid into the room as gracefully as always. Eros always admired how sharp and venomous her character was in comparison to her graceful, almost Godly body language.
She walked around the large wooden table and sat down, gesturing for Eros to sit down on the sofa, opposite her. Luna sighed profoundly and covered her face.
"Such shame, such disgrace," she whispered in her palms, slowly shaking her head in disapproval.
"Nobody has died, Mother," Eros leaned back on the sofa, looking around the familiar room, avoiding his mothers' gaze.
"Nobody has died, huh? How about me? What are my people going to think of me when they find out? I will die, out of shame, because my only child, my son, has chosen a miserable human as his mate! Had you ever thought of me before being so reckless?" Luna yelled, standing, and leaning over the table.
"Here we go again," Eros rolled his eyes, stood, and headed for the door.
"You are not about to walk out on me! Sit your ass back down, boy! We are going to talk, like it or not!" She tried to use her Luna's voice- the tone, which was supposed to make all pack wolves kneel, submit to their superior.
Eros shrugged his shoulders, slid both of his hands in his jean pockets, and leaned against the nearest wall. He had enough on his mind by now; Eros wasn’t bothered by his mother throwing another temper tantrum. Luna's eyes fogged; Eros knew that his mother was using mind-link to call for backup. Any moment now, the Alpha will show up and join their not-so-friendly conversation. He was right, next to him now stood Alpha, his eyes throwing daggers- a thing Eros had gotten used to ages ago.
"Xavier," Eros greeted him, his eyes still fixed on the angry Luna.
"There you are. We are having a little family disagreement, I would very much appreciate your advice," the Luna greeted her mate, suddenly speaking lovingly. Sometimes Eros felt a pang of jealousy when she spoke to Alpha.
She had always been rough and unforgiving, yet whenever Alpha was around, she changed to a different persona. Maybe, just maybe, had she given him a little love, he wouldn't have ended up like this.
"Is this about the mating ceremony?" The Alpha strode next to his mates' side, being a little taller than she is, he looked huge and powerful. Xavier hated standing near Eros for one simple reason- Eros was more towering and more buff than he was; whenever they stood near, people assumed that Eros was the Alpha, not the other way around.
"This is outrageous, what will the pack think of us?" She almost broke down in tears.
"That is, if they find out that the freak is your son in the first place," Xavier laughed out loud, amused of his own words. Luna giggled, playing along with her mate. Eros still stood next to the wall, unaffected by Alpha's cruel attitude; he had grown used to his ways of torture- no matter whether those were physical or emotional.
"Jokes aside, this is an important matter. I can't let my son run around with a human." Luna's tone changed as her eyes fell on Eros. She pursed her lips as she thought of something.
"My love, let's be honest. This is not a surprise for either of us. The bastard is half-human, of course, he would choose weaker for his mate to feel a little stronger. He couldn't deal with a full blood she-wolf even if she didn't have arms and legs.
He is too weak, just accept it and move on. Your bastard is going to spend his life with humans, and if we're lucky enough- the werewolf gene will fade in his bloodline. We don't need more freaks in this pack," Xavier spoke coldly, acting as if Eros wasn't standing just a few steps away from them. Luna nodded her head and faced Eros again.
"I will let the matter go. I will accept and forget. But also, I will cut all ties to you, even if you or your family starve- you have no mother anymore. I do want to know why, though. Why did you choose a human?" Her voice boomed in authority, she meant what she said; she was determined to kick her son out of the family.
It was a dysfunctional, toxic one, yet still a family. He hid the pain he felt from his mother's words- saying that it left him unaffected would be a lie.
"She's my mate. Even if I tried to go for a shifter, my beast wouldn't allow me. Her scent, it's so intoxicating- it left me wanting more, I couldn't resist," he spoke calmly, hiding the excitement he felt within his heart, just by remembering.
"A real mate, what a joke. Those don't exist anymore, and even if they did, a bastard like you doesn't deserve one. Say one more thing, and I will kill that human toy you claimed!" Alpha snarled. Threatening Eve's life pushed Eros over the edge.
He didn't think anymore, just hearing the Alpha promising to kill his mate made him see red, his breathing was deep, low growls of warning forming in his chest. Eros grabbed the first object on his left- a bookcase and threw it at the Alpha. Xavier barely dodged the massive piece of furniture, left shocked by the bastard's sudden actions.
"One. More. Word. About. My. Mate." Eros breathed out each word; the anger was building up in him, body shaking- reminding of a near forced shift state. Unnatural for an Alpha- Xavier stepped back, even his wolf was hidden away, showing no resistance whatsoever.
"One more word and I will rip your throat out. I will kill my mother in front of your eyes. Then, after you watch how she dies in agonizing pain- it'll be your turn. Underestimate me; I dare you!" Ares had fought his way to the surface, changing his voice, making it sound deep, dangerous, and demonic.
"I-," Xavier choked on his words, his body shook violently, near submitting.
"Look at you, never would I have thought that the big bad wolf would turn out to be a pussy," Eros snarled and left the office, destroying whatever he found on his way out of the packhouse.
