89. Mommy, wake up!
"Mommy, wake up! What's wrong with you? Please, wake up, it's me, Ally! Just open your eyes, I'm here, nobody will hurt you ever again! I will protect you; I will call for Baka, just wake up! Please!" Tears streamed down Ally's cheeks as she kept shaking Eve, trying her best to wake her mother up. Even when Eros wanted to approach her, the little girl growled in response, wrapping her arms around her mother in a deathly grip.
"Don't you come close to my mom! I will call my friends, and they will destroy your miserable pack. You have no idea how powerful they are, how fast they could turn life here into a tortuous blood bath! Step away from us!" Ally screamed from the top of her lungs.
Zander ran into the room, shocked. Some doctors tried to get inside and take the child off the sleeping woman, but Eros was the one to growl out this time. His growl was more powerful- deep enough to shake the windows- a warning for everyone to back off. Even Zander caught the message from his best friend and left the room, pushing medical staff outside. Eros stood frozen, watching how the little girl kept trying to wake Eve. He couldn't help but tear up as he observed his daughter fighting for her mother. The girl had a strong spirit, especially when it came to the ones she loved the most.
"What did you just say?" Eros brought himself out of the hazed state and instantly questioned the little girl.
"I said that I'm going to call my friends, and they are going to fuck your pack up! Back away from my mommy before I get angry!" Ally jumped off the bed and stood in front of it in an attempt to shield her mother.
"Don't use such foul language, little one." Eros smiled, despite her angered behaviour. She was a fighter- the same as her parents. No matter how mad Ally got, he would keep on smiling. Eve followed his wildest dream and named their daughter just like he once wished.
"What do you care, old fart? Get out of here; I'm taking my mom away. Don't follow us if you don't want to meet Baka, Anto, and other Watchers!" Ally yelled, placing her hands on her hips.
She reminded him of a little feisty lady in the middle of an argument.
"What I meant was that you called yourself by a different name than you did when we met. Isn't your name Rose? I promised to help find your mommy, and this is how you repay me? Pretty disrespectful behaviour, I'm sure your mother wouldn't approve of that." Eros stepped closer, doing his best to be careful and not to startle his daughter. How in Hell has she gotten that big in such a short period of time?
"Rose is for strangers, you weirdo! Yeah, you promised to find her, but you never told me that my mom was in the hospital!" Ally kept arguing. No matter what Eros said - the little girl wouldn't give up; she would fight for her mom until the day she died. That's what true love is, that's how people are supposed to show off that they care. Words mean nothing- actions do.
"Calm down and tell me your full name. To make the situation fair- I will explain how your mom ended up in my pack's hospital," Eros offered her a handshake as a sign for them having a real deal. Ally quickly shook his hand and stepped backward, leaning against her mother's hospital bed. She switched her weight from leg to leg nervously, scanning the room. Her eyes landed on a desk with medical supplies- it was her backup if she needed to defend herself and her mom until the Watchers appeared.
"Ally Rose Frost, at your service, you wet dog," the girl faked a bow, showing off more attitude than needed. If the stranger wanted answers- that's what he's about to get, a little extra sarcasm as a cherry on top.
"It can't be possible, can it be?" Eros whispered, more to himself than the little girl. Of course, she had the same sharp senses as him- hearing every word spoken out as a barely audible whisper.
"Who cares? Stop acting as if you just saw the first flying pig! Tell me what my mom is doing here and why she is here in the first place!" Ally crossed her hands in front of her chest and pouted. The little girl didn't approve of the look on the stranger's face. She didn't like how Eros took way too much time to give her answers. Ally wanted to know facts- she needed to find out what happened to her mom and how long she had been asleep. No matter how much she tried pushing Eros for answers- he stood frozen, looking like a fool.
"Do you remember our meeting next to the border?" Eros leaned against the white wall, unable to take his eyes off Ally. She did resemble him- from the color of hair and eyes to a sharp attitude and fighting spirit.
"Of course, I do; I'm small, not stupid!" her reply made Eros chuckle. She was a sight to see, especially when she opened her mouth.
"Before I tell you why your mother is here, tell me one last thing- how old are you exactly?" Eros decided to push her buttons by dropping another question. He couldn't help himself- the curiosity overtook his whole being. And Ares wasn't acting saner than their human side- the beast kept howling in joy- they had a pup.
"I swear you'll get yourself killed one day, old man. I'm four, now tell me everything you know about my mom! I'm done with the stupid questions and the whole conversation itself!"
"As you wish, pup. When we met next to the border, I promised to help you, didn't I?" Eros formed his words in a question to make sure that Ally was following his words thoroughly.
Ally rolled her eyes but nodded.
"As we neared the hospital, I told you that I needed to see my mate, do you remember that?" He kept dropping hints. Eros knew that Ally must be incredibly smart for her age, but a state of rage delayed her ability to notice obvious things.
"Yes, I do recall you saying something like that. She's in the hospital you said." Ally bit her lip, feeling ashamed. If her mom saw her behaviour- Eve would be embarrassed. The man had an ill mate, and despite that, he tried to help. Ally understood her wrongdoings and apologized for being so rude.
"She is in the hospital, yes. Apology accepted, happens to the best of us. Don't worry, little one," Eros sighed.
"Why aren't you next to your mate, then?" Ally raised an eyebrow, making a bright smile creep on the male's lips. She couldn't understand why he acted so happy while the woman he's supposed to love was sick.
"I am."
"Excuse me, I think I heard you saying that you're next to your mate right now," Ally gasped, grabbing the sides of her head in pure shock.
"You heard correctly, pup" Eros grinned, watching how the realization hit Ally. Even though her alerted state looked ridiculous, Eros was nowhere near to laughing at Ally. At his daughter. The realization washed over him as well. He was a father. Eve never intended to kill their child. Now, he could explain her absence- his mate was hiding their child's existence to protect her. Of course, after all, his supposed to be mother wanted her dead. Eve couldn't find a better solution than to disappear for a while. The thing Eros couldn't get his head around was how Ally could be four years old. Eve went missing only a couple of months ago.
"So that means that you're..." Ally gasped, stepping closer to Eros. Her, willingly taking the first steps towards him, after finding Eve-, meant everything.
"Eros Azra Frost. Evangeline Dyer is my mate, that makes you my daughter," Eros smiled down at the child, their eyes locked, and filled with tears instantly.
"Dad!" Ally threw her hands up, jumping at Eros. The male instantly reacted, kneeling, and wrapping his arms around the little girl. He pulled her into his chest, letting her cry.
"I- I thought that I'd have to go out for a dad hunt, but all this time, I had my real dad here," she sobbed against his chest, her little hands grabbing onto his dress shirt. He couldn't hold in the laughter after Ally's confession, and she seemed like she didn't mind at all. They sat against the wall for hours, waiting for Eve to wake up. Time after time, someone from the medical staff entered the room and checked on her vitals. If the person tried to take even a glance at Ally, Eros would growl and snarl at them. He had met his daughter, and now, he would rather rot in Hell than let anyone even look her way.
Ally explained where they had been hiding, the whole fiasco about the Watchers, and how her mom went missing. She wanted her dad to know every little detail about her life so far. Eros didn't speak; he sat, held her, and listened to the little girl's rants. Never, in a million years, did he think that listening to someone talking could be better than listening to Eve. They tried to guess when Eve would wake up, hoping that it would be just hours, not days or weeks.
"You know, mommy did an excellent job. She took care of me and fried dinosaur naggies for me," Ally said, her eyes glued to her mother's bed. The woman laid still, not moving even once.
"I bet she did, little one. Your mom left me to provide you safety- back then, it wasn't quite safe here. She took a great risk to leave without my knowledge. She's a great mother," Eros agreed with his daughter, giving a few more facts to her. He wanted Ally to understand how difficult the situation was for both her parents all those months ago.
"Mom still loves you, even if she keeps trying to deny it. I've heard her crying when she thought I wasn't around. She used to have nightmares before she left that day- mom never called out a name, but she begged for someone not to leave her and woke up crying. Whenever I asked what was wrong, mom told me that losing a mate, even for a short time, is the most painful thing ever," Ally smiled sadly, her eyes moving from Eve's bed to her father's face.
"She told you the truth; it wasn't exactly easy for me to live without her around. When a wolf loses mate, no matter if it was a tragic situation or just a small amount of time- it's the same. I couldn't sleep, eat, or function properly while she was away. I didn't know about your existence then, so I took her here. If only I would have known that my daughter was waiting somewhere for her mother to come back," Eros shook his head, angry at himself for the things he did.
He couldn't justify his actions just because he didn't know- that's not a real man's behaviour. He had to take responsibility for his actions and face the consequences.
"It's okay, mom will wake up, and we will be a real family, right? You won't make us leave. Please tell me that you want us here?" Ally used her puppy dog eyes, a tiny part of her fearing that her father might want them to leave.
"Even if you or your mother begged me to let go of you, I wouldn't. This must be the luckiest day of my life. I got both of my girls back, and you guys are not leaving me anymore. We are a family, no matter what everyone else thinks or says. My beast, Ares, knew that you were mine before I could put two and two together. Both of us want to keep our ladies close, no more leaving."
Eros watched how a bright smile grew on Ally's lips. Once he had seen it, he couldn't live without her smile anymore. Just like Eve, Ally had wrapped the man around her little finger with ease.
"How about if Zander helps you to get some snacks? Does that sound good?" Eros added.
"Are you coming with me? What if mommy wakes up while we're gone? She will get scared without a familiar face next to her," Ally said with new questions, proving to her dad how truly amazing a daughter she was.
"I'll stay here; Zander is on his way. He will have a couple of guards next to you to ensure safety. I'll mind-link him if mommy wakes up while you're getting the snacks," as he finished the sentence, Zander quietly entered the room, offering a hand to Ally. She gladly took it and left with her new friend, leaving her dad to guard Eve.
