62. Make her happy.
Darius leaned against the door frame, grinning as if he had accomplished the best thing in the universe. The look on Queen's face was like a cherry on top of the cake. He did want to visit the Royals with Ally, but the male knew that she wouldn't be ready to talk about the pregnancy yet. So, the deadly sin decided to take matters into his own hands and make the big announcement independently. Later on, he would bring his mate to meet her parents and show off the baby bump, but only in time. First, he had to make sure that his precious Princess was safe, and there wouldn't be any problems as they met in future. If the Royals got pissed off- he would take the worst hit instead of letting his woman go through such an amount of stress. Darius chuckled, waiting for any reaction from the Queen, of course- aside from shock. It was expected that she couldn't utter a word; her first daughter was pregnant at such a young age- it must be shocking and terrifying at the same time.
"Wait," Eve took a deep breath and stood up from the chair. She approached the deadly sin with a murderous look written all over her face. "So, you are telling me that you took all that time, crossed all those lands, and invited yourself into my damn house to announce... To announce that you got my precious baby pregnant?" Eve choked out, standing right in front of the male. She wasn't the biggest fan of the man, who was mated to her daughter, yet she secretly admired the smug look on his face. Darius reminded her of Eros- in too many ways, too many times. The same as King, he acted as if he was on top of the world as soon as the pregnancy news broke out.
"Yep," Darius shrugged his shoulders. Another thing Eve admired was his coldness- it didn't matter who the deadly sin faced; he never showed off emotions or fear. The man was nearly unmovable, for as long as Ally wasn't around. As soon as the Princess was near- the dangerous predator turned into a lovesick puppy, tiptoeing around all of her needs.
"Are you sure? How did you find out? For how long?" Eve had too many questions, yet she avoided asking anything that she had an answer for already. There wasn't a need to ask him if they mated- the man arrived to break out the pregnancy news, of course, they mated. The thought finally hit in- Eve and Eros would be grandparents while they're expecting another child of their own. How the Hell was that possible?
"I am one hundred percent sure, Queen Eve. It wasn't too difficult to guess since your wonderful daughter decided to mark me seconds before the mating process was finished. We're adults; both of us know what happens if the woman bites down the male's neck before they cum. I don't mean to be disrespectful, not that I'd like to talk about how I slept with your daughter, but seeing that you got the third on its way- you're very well aware of how kids are made. Also, since I know for as long as a couple of hours- technically, you're the first person to find out." Darius smirked, looking down at his soon to be mother-in-law. Queen was a smart woman, she knew how things in the shifter world happened, and even before any heartbeat could appear- most males knew if they impregnated their mates. The men felt it better than their partners, who would carry the little bundle of joy.
"Before I do what I am about to do, I have one question. Can I trust your friend Sloth around my baby? I'm scared that he might try to take her away from us before she reaches the age," Eve started pacing in front of Darius, growing worried. She was about to do something the woman never expected to do, but for that- she needed her mate.
"I know that you don't trust me, Queen Eve, so there's no use to ask any questions. For as long as you can't trust me and believe in my good intentions- you wouldn't believe in my words either. To avoid any possible arguments, though, I will answer the question anyway, so it's up to you to decide if you want to believe in my words or not. Sloth has been my best friend and only companion for hundreds of years; trust me when I say this- that man is the laziest fuck I've happened to meet in my whole lifetime. But, with your daughter, he had found a new side of himself. I've never seen the amount of excitement and love in his eyes as today. River is whipped by your daughter, but he is not a man who wouldn't keep his promises. And he is not a man who might do as much as think about kidnapping a child, taking her away from everything she had known so far. He might demand the right to see her whenever he pleases, but that's about it. For the trust issue- there's nothing to worry about; that lazy fuck would rather die himself than let anyone do as much as poking the girl. Her parents included." Darius smiled, shaking his head. The man didn't care what the Royals thought of him, but he felt worried about his friend. River was a nice man, despite being the deadly sin- if the male lost his mate, he might go insane, and that was the last thing Darius would allow to happen. The male kept observing Queen; she was deep in thoughts, probably processing his words and figuring out what was the best thing to do.
The Queen nodded her head and rushed behind him, opening the door. At first, Darius thought that Eve would make him leave, but the Queen had a habit of surprising him whenever the male least expected. She took a deep breath and screamed: "Eros, leave those two alone, let Bea enjoy the company of her overgrown teddy bear and come here!" She smiled, closed the door, and moved back to her previous seat, inviting Darius to sit down as they waited.
"Maybe a cup of tea?" The Queen picked up a sheet of paper and read whatever was on it as she offered the deadly sin some refreshments. Darius sat completely dumbfounded; the male assumed Eve would freak out or try to kill him. He just told her that he had knocked up her daughter, but instead of raging- the woman offered him tea.
"Thank you for the kind offer, but no. I arrived to share the news, not to have a tea party at the castle. Besides, I don't want to stay around here for too long- Ally might wake up any moment now, and I want to be near when she does," Darius kindly declined her offer.
Eve wouldn't look at him, just nodded her head, and kept reading. The truth was that the Queen faked being busy- she needed to think about what was happening. Her daughter was pregnant, well, if the deadly sin's words weren't lies. She kept thinking about her mate's reaction- Eros acted as if Ally was his prized possession and nobody had the right to do as much as look at her. Now, the angry father would have to face the fact that his baby wasn't a baby anymore. She was a young woman who could make her own decisions and take up any responsibilities. Seeing how calm Darius was- Eve instantly knew that the mating process was finished because both of them wanted it. The male didn't force her daughter to do anything. It was hard for her to admit, but Eve knew for a fact- Darius loved her daughter, the man killed for the safety of her daughter, and did everything to make Ally smile. The Queen had heard some of the secret conversations both had whenever Darius snuck in Ally's room- Eve knew from since then that the man would do anything for the Princess. He even took it upon himself to break the news, keeping Ally out of the picture- a smart and courageous move.
They sat in silence for a while, waiting for the King to arrive. Darius didn't want to wait, it was a pure waste of time, but he had to sit and try to be patient. Those were Ally's parents- the Princess would want him to have a good relationship with both of them. Sooner or later, the deadly sin would have to face Royals again- when the baby would arrive, Ally would want to visit her parents and show off the wonderful being they had created. The thought of them having a baby warmed the male's heart- he never expected to become a father within such a short period of time after meeting his mate, but Darius had nothing to regret. He loved the Princess, and he loved the possibility of building a family with her.
The King arrived within a few minutes, his face red as a tomato. "I'm sorry for making you two to wait on me, but I couldn't force myself to leave the show. Bea is doing his makeup, calling him the little Mermaid; if only you would see the look on that man's face, you would understand. The view is too precious to miss, and I'm not talking only about his face; I'm talking about her too. She's happy, love." Eros approached his mate, leaned in, and kissed the top of her head. The King didn't feel bothered by the presence of his daughter's mate- Darius didn't have any idea that he was accepted into the family a while ago. "So? Why did you summon me, oh great leader of this shithole," Eros laughed, unable to act like the serious King he was supposed to be. The male didn't care- this day was one of the best in his lifetime. His little girl bonded with her mate, who was surprisingly overprotective over her even though she didn't feel the bond yet, and his mate expected another child. Life was perfect.
"Sit down; we have some exciting news to share," Eve smiled at Darius.
The words that left her lips shocked the deadly sin- he sat frozen on the spot, his jaw dropping. If anything, Darius expected her to open the gates of Hell and curse him, but instead, the woman smiled and acted excited. As mean as it sounds- the deadly sin wondered if someone hit the Queen on the head. With a brick.
"I'm all ears, my love," Eros sat on the sofa, nearest to the large wooden table. Eve eyed both men, excitement oozing from her.
"Let's start, shall we? First of all, I'd like to say something if you don't mind. Of course, you don't mind, who am I kidding? Anyway, as you know, our daughter's mate paid us a little visit to discuss something important. Now, remember that I am, and will be, the one who decides if the news is good or bad for as long as it comes to our children. I accepted Sloth, he is good for our little Bea, but it doesn't mean that I won't have my eyes on him. The same goes for you, mister Wrath," Eve pointed a finger at Darius, wiggling her eyebrows. The male instantly understood that the Queen was playing with him, so he smiled and nodded his head. Darius would accept any of their terms if that meant that his mate would be happy. "Now, the thing I am about to say is a good thing. If you don't like it- it's not my problem, you're more than welcome to sleep in the living room, my love." Eve grinned, this time winking at Darius. The male couldn't get his mind across her behavior- the Queen was teaming up with him; how crazy was that?
"Mister Wrath arrived to share exciting, wonderful, and truly breathtaking news- we are going to be grandparents!" Eve jumped on her feet, clapping her hands as the brightest smile snuck on her lips. The Queen couldn't contain herself- despite everything that happened in the past; Eve was happy to welcome another beautiful baby in their family.
Eros sat silent, in a loss of words, wondering what would be the appropriate reaction to the news. The King could remember the first time he got to hold his daughter as if it was yesterday, and now that sassy girl would become a mother herself. Wasn't it too early? What were they thinking? The King stood up from his place, glanced at his overjoyed mate, and turned around to face Darius. Eros didn't bother to hide the confusion and fury he felt, yet his movements didn't go quite right with his facial expression. The male moved slowly and stood right in front of the deadly sin.
Eros extended his arm, offering a hand to Darius. The deadly sin didn't care if the King would try to attack him or simply break his hand- he took it and held it as tight as Eros did. Darius stood up, facing the King, their hands still in a tight handshake. After a couple of minutes, Eros finally smiled and shook the male's hand, letting go of it. Darius didn't expect the King to throw his arms around him and pull the deadly sin into a tight hug. "Welcome to the family, son. Make her happy."
