60. I'll demonstrate how I made her my bitch.
Eve opened and closed her mouth, reminding him more of a fish than a human being. Eros breathed heavily, standing up and taking a significant step towards her. Eve's instincts kicked in, making her step back each time he neared her, ending up caged in the corner of the room.
"For the last time, I'm asking nicely. Explain, now," Ares said through gritted teeth, holding his hands in tight fists.
"I don't need to explain anything!" Eve yelled straight in his face, showing off the anger and frustration she felt. The wolf didn't flinch; he didn't step back or give out any emotion - instead, he leaned closer to her neck, making Eve feel rather hot and bothered.
"Oh, yes, you do, darling. You see, I don't take lies kindly, nor do I tolerate someone, even my damn mate, bad mouthing me. Now, while I'm still able to control myself, be a good girl, and explain where your accusations came from."
Eve trembled as his breath tickled her sensitive skin, her knees nearly gave in when he decided that it might be a good idea to trace his tongue from the crook of her neck up to her ear, biting onto the earlobe rather gently. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, trying to appear unaffected. She fisted her small hands and tried to push Ares away from her, putting in all her strength. His massive body didn't move an inch; he kept hovering over her, a smirk playing on his lips.
"I felt it, you cheating, lying bastard!" she yelled, tears suddenly streamed down her cheeks, surprising Eros. Eve didn't know how hurt she was, how madly in love she had fallen while trying to convince herself that she had no feelings towards the male. Her whole body shook in anger, fuelling the need to increase the distance between their bodies. As soon as Ares noticed the tears, he grabbed her face and wiped them away. The smirk left his lips, worry visible in his eyes.
"Don't cry, mate, I won't hurt you- I would never, please, don't cry, it pains me to see you in such a state," he whispered, hoping that his words will calm down the tiny human.
"Oh, so now you suddenly remember that you do have a mate? Now you don't want to see my tears? All this time, I kept convincing myself that I feel nothing, while you kept pushing the love and care on me! You thought that I wouldn't fall for you? You thought that I wouldn't wake up one day, just to realize that I fucking love you? Well, news flash asshole, I did, I fucking did fall for you! And what do you decide to do? You decide to let another woman in your bed, while I'm left screaming, crying in pain, with no one else than your crazy ass mother to take care of me! Do you have any idea how much it hurts, physically, when a mate cheats? If I had known that you'd lure me into a trap of feelings just to ruin everything the next moment, I would have rejected you on the spot!" Eve kept banging her fists against his chest, bringing more pain upon herself than on the shifter. Ares looked down at the frantic human being, who appeared to be trying to beat him up. Her words didn't make any sense. Both he and Eros were madly in love with her since they laid their eyes upon her. She was the centre of their universe, none of both would even think about cheating. He grabbed her wrists, making sure his hold was gentle to avoid any damage and growled deeply.
"Don't test my patience, mate. Explain what the Hell you are talking about!" Ares felt the little patience he had slipping away, feeling worse at the thought that he's angry while his mate was obviously in pain.
"I'm not testing shit! You're the one who keeps acting innocent while I passed out in the middle of the forest because YOU took another woman. How can you walk around and claim me as yours, while spending time with exes and mistresses?" Eve turned her face away from him, even looking in his eyes would pain her. She never intended to act like a brat; she never intended to be the one who keeps pushing the other person to their limits. But she also never expected to sleep with him before they talked about past events. Hell, she never would have guessed that she was able to go into the heat in the first place. Despite the love, care, and intense passion they shared in bed- she felt dirty for the things they did. Just a while ago, she had to go through the most agonizing pain in her lifetime, only to be swept off her feet and bed by the same man.
"You're talking about Zoey?" He raised an eyebrow, observing if she would give out any reaction.
"I don't know the name of the woman you slept with. You're supposed to know that, just saying," her voice was low, yet Ares could catch the pain and disgust lingering in her words.
"So, you're trying to tell me that I made Zoey my bitch, is that correct?" Ares chuckled, finding the situation rather amusing. If he knew what Eve felt, the things his mother had told her, and even the smallest details of what happened in that forest- he would never let himself appear even a little amused.
"And you're trying to tell me that you didn't." Eve faced him again, forcefully pushing the words over her lips, her eyes, once again, filled with tears. For a second, he kept quiet, thinking about what happened back in the kitchen with Zoey. The woman decided to invite herself in, even after being told not to. She lied to Eve and enjoyed the small fake victory for a bit. She pushed herself onto him and made fun out of his mate- ending up dead. Like a lightbulb, the wave of realization washed over him- he wasn't just any other werewolf, so even if he didn't intend, or want to kiss Zoey, Eve still felt it. Ares took his time to come up with an explanation that wouldn't hurt Eve, yet whatever idea crossed his mind seemed to have a scenario of backlash right after. A low growl formed in his chest, finally a decent thought crossed his mind. Ares knew what he had to do. Ares lowered his body, used the moment of Eve's confused state, and grabbed onto her thighs, throwing her body over his shoulder. Eve banged on his back, demanding for him to set her free.
"Don't struggle, mate, it'll make everything worse. Be a good girl and shut the fuck up as I demonstrate how I made her my bitch on your rather delicious body," Ares licked his lips as he spoke, spanking Eve as a warning. He rushed to the bedroom, kicking the door open and throwing Eve onto the bed. His eyes travelled over her body greedily, lust filling his gaze. For a second, he forgot why he had carried Eve to their bed, an animalistic desire to fuck her senseless attacked his mind. He had to shrug the thought away, focusing on his primary goal. Eve laid on her back, looking as terrified as ever. She didn't move; fear kept her frozen in place. Ares took the last glance at her and smirked, grabbing his belt, unbuckling it rather slowly.
"Now, mate, I shall take great pleasure in showing you how I made Zoey my bitch," he laughed coldly, intentionally scaring Eve even more. If this didn’t work, he had no idea what would, or if anything else could. She was unaffected by his sincere words, so maybe actions were needed. Ares caught a whiff of her arousal, her body burning in desire, despite the terrified state, Eve was still in heat, still needing his touch more than ever. Ares took off his belt and threw it on the floor. He then straightened his body, turned his back to Eve, and headed for the bedroom door. At this point, he hated himself for leaving his mate in need, refusing to taste her luscious lips.
"W-where are you going?" Eve's voice trembled, she felt her body burning up again, aware of the brand-new wave of heat hitting her to the core.
"I promised I'd demonstrate how I claimed Zoey. That's what I'm doing right now," Ares shrugged, his back facing Eve.
"I don't understand, you're leaving," he heard Eve getting out of the bed, her tiny feet hitting the wooden floor.
"Exactly. Probably because I fucking didn't claim Zoey. Probably because of the pain, you claim you were going through, wasn't exactly my fault. I still have to find out more; I have to talk to Balthazar and understand if it's possible. She kissed me as soon as you left the apartment, caught me by surprise, if you may," he said, letting a deep sigh of frustration leave his lips.
Eve opened her mouth, but before any words could escape her lips, Ares cut her off.
"The reason why I didn't run after you like a crazy maniac was simple. First of all, I thought you'd go to your parents, not even once did I think you would blindly follow my mother into puma's territory. I killed Zoey, okay? I killed her because she threatened you and tried to claim me when I have already claimed the most wonderful woman alive. Since my actions were done strictly by law, I had to bring the body to her parents, which got me into some heated discussions with her mother. Eve, you're new to the whole shifter life, I get it, but don't you ever think that I would even think of replacing you with some low life skank!" Ares finally turned around, facing Eve, frowning at her seemingly pained facial expression.
A single tear slid down her cheek, making him rush over to her. He cupped Eve’s cheek, wiping the tear away and placing a rather gentle kiss on it.
"I would never, trust me for once- I would never even dare to think of replacing you. You are the one for me; you are the woman I fall asleep and wake up next to. Even when you're around, the only thing on my mind is you. I told you this already, and if I need to, I will chase you till the end of the world, yelling that you are the centre of my universe while I do. I understand, us shifters, we can be pretty terrifying at times. But there's one thing we are not when we find our true mates- cheaters." He spoke with such sincerity; it made Eve's heart skip a beat. Her arms instantly wrapped around his neck, pulling him incredibly close.
"You have no idea how happy I am to hear this. No idea. After what happened in the forest, I was afraid you'd get rid of me. I'm not strong, nor shifter, or any better looking than other women out there. I'm just me, Evangeline Dyer- a twenty-one-year-old human girl, who has no idea how shifters live their lives. A simple, not-so-interesting human, who managed to fall in love with the scariest man out there. I wasn't afraid of being in pain or getting hurt; I was, and probably still am, afraid that you might decide that I'm not good enough to be a part of your life," she whispered against his chest, cherishing the moment of closeness. Ares wrapped his arms around her waist, tightening his hold, making Eve feel as if he was the one afraid that she would disappear on the spot.
"I wouldn't change anything, I wouldn't change you, and if needed- I would chase you until the moment when you'd understand that I'm the one for you, and you are the one for me. I love you, my simple, rather interesting, Evangeline." Ares let go of his tight hold and gently grabbed her chin, turning her face for their eyes to meet. As soon as their gazes locked, Ares mouthed 'I love you' and leaned down; his lips went crashing down on hers. Ares kissed her gently, yet passionately, a low growl forming in his chest as their lips melded together, moving in perfect sync. After all- they were made to be together.
