Chapter 111 Apologizing in Person
Jones was extremely puzzled before. He hadn't offended Eric, so why did Eric go to such lengths to suppress him? How big of a grudge did Eric hold to do such a thing!
Now, since Eric asked him to bring his son along, it was enough to indicate that his son had angered Eric.
"I really don't know what this little bastard has done! It actually caused Mr. Phillips to mobilize the entire New York business community to suppress Jones's Group." Jones said angrily.
After leaving the Power Group office, Jones immediately called his son.
"Hey, dad! What's up?" Royce sounded very happy on the other end of the phone.
"Get back home right now!" Jones yelled angrily.
Royce had already returned home by now.
But he still had a confused look on his face. He wondered why his dad suddenly got angry with him on the phone.
He had just learned about Jones's Group being cut off by various cooperative companies.
"What on earth is going on? Who is behind this? Did my dad offend someone important?" Royce also seemed very anxious at the moment.
Royce was not a fool either. He couldn't imagine who his family had offended so badly that they united the entire New York business community to suppress them.
He was very worried. If his family is truly suppressed by everyone in New York, then his days of luxury as a rich heir are over.
Just at this moment, the door was opened, and Jones walked in with a grim face.
"Dad, I heard that someone wants to suppress Jones's Group. What on earth is going on?" Royce quickly asked Jones as he approached.
Smack!
As soon as his dad reached him, he slapped him right across the face.
This slap left Royce dumbfounded.
Jones reprimanded Royce with a grim face. "You ask me what's going on? I damn well want to ask you what's going on! Come with me!" Jones grabbed Royce's ear and headed toward the exit.
"Dad, ouch, it hurts! Why are you asking me? I have no idea!" Royce felt utterly bewildered.
Jones forcefully pulled Royce into the car, and they drove toward the Power Group office.
"Dad, where are you taking me?" Royce asked.
"Who did you offend? Don't you have any clue? I've put so much effort into establishing Jones's Group. Why do you want to ruin it for me?" Jones berated him fiercely.
"Dad, I... I really don't know what's going on. There's someone powerful who wants to suppress Jones's Group, but how is it my problem?" Royce said loudly.
"Are you still trying to defend yourself? You have actually offended the chairman of the Power Group New York branch, and you dare tell me you have no clue!" Jones's face turned grim.
"Dad, I don't even know who the chairman of the Power Group is. How could I offend him? You must be mistaken!" Royce exclaimed.
Just as he finished speaking, Royce suddenly froze.
He remembered that yesterday, at Tina's home, Eric told him that he was the chairman of the Power Group New York branch. He also warned Royce that if he angered him, the consequences would be severe.
"Could he really be the chairman of the Power Group?" Royce said in shock.
If Eric is indeed the chairman, then he has truly offended the Power Group.
"No! It's absolutely impossible! Based on that bastard's appearance, it's absolutely impossible! Absolutely impossible!" Royce's tone was firm.
All along, he firmly believed that Eric was a poor man.
Moreover, he had seen Eric's personal information. Eric clearly came from a poor family and was still in college. How could he possibly be a chairman?
"It's best if he's not. When I meet with the chairman of the Power Group later, I will clarify it." Jones said with a stern face.
Jones also hoped it wasn't true. If it was just a misunderstanding, then resolving it would bring the situation under control.
"Dad, although the Power Group's New York branch is impressive, it is still just a branch. What gives him the authority to make the entire New York business community listen to him? What gives him the ability to unite everyone to suppress the Jones's Group?" Royce protested.
Jones shook his head. "Do you know the chairman's other identity?"
"What identity?" Royce asked quickly.
Jones shook his head and said, "The chairman is Sean's grandson. This identity carries enough weight to command the entire New York business community."
"Sean's grandson?" Royce gasped in disbelief. "I didn't know that there was such a terrifying figure in New York."
Soon, the car arrived at the Power Group office.
Jones led Royce into the office. Guided by the receptionist, they made their way to the top floor.
"The chairman is inside, gentlemen," the receptionist said before turning and leaving.
The two stood at the door.
"Royce, if it's a misunderstanding, we can clear it up. But remember, this is Sean's grandson. We absolutely cannot afford to offend him. Don't say anything reckless," Jones cautioned Royce.
"Don't worry, I won't." Royce smiled confidently.
Royce believed that he had never offended such a person. He was convinced that it must be a misunderstanding. He felt no fear at all.
Jones nodded and pushed open the office door, with Royce following closely behind.
Upon entering, they saw a young man standing by the floor-to-ceiling windows with his back facing them.
"Mr. Phillips, I am Jones." Jones bowed and introduced himself respectfully.
Royce also bowed.
Both of them fixed their gazes on the young man.
In the next moment, the man turned slowly and faced them.
"Eric!" When Royce saw Eric, his eyes widened in astonishment.
His voice became exceptionally sharp due to the shock in his heart.
Royce's heart churned with waves of shock and astonishment.
The chairman of the Power Group, Sean's grandson, is actually... Eric!
"That's right, it's me!" Eric stood with his hands behind his back and stared at Royce.
"I told you. I am the chairman of the Power Group. The Lamborghini is mine, and I paid for the NBA star players. Unfortunately, you didn't believe me," Eric said while squinting his eyes.
As Eric spoke, he walked up to Royce. "Do you believe me now?"
"I, I, I..."
Royce's heart trembled, and his hair stood on end.
Royce's mind was blank like a blank sheet of paper. He felt as if someone had drenched him with a bucket of cold water from head to toe. Good Lord, the people he had offended turned out to have such a terrifying background!
Royce's heart sank into an abyss. Jones, who was standing beside him, had already realized the situation. It seemed like his son had really managed to offend Eric.
"You bastard! You claimed you didn't know Mr. Phillips before! How dare you offend him? Apologize immediately!" Jones cursed as he rushed toward Royce. He forcefully kicked him, causing him to kneel on the ground.
Royce was trembling. He thought about Eric's background and his previous actions toward Eric, and fear filled his heart.
"Can't you speak? I told you to apologize!" Jones slapped Royce's head hard.
"I... I apologize... Mr. Phillips, I know I was wrong. Please... spare me!" Royce's voice trembled as he begged repeatedly.
After learning about Eric's background, would Royce still dare to compete with Eric for Tina? Absolutely not! Would he dare to oppose Eric insolently? Absolutely not!
Eric looked at Royce kneeling before him. "I said you would regret your decision, that you would kneel before me and beg for mercy. Wasn't it funny to you yesterday? Why don't you laugh now? Why are you begging for mercy?" Eric said coldly.
