Chapter 146 Costume Party
So, it was a costume party, and Eric grabbed a couple of props on his way there.
The ballroom was buzzing with music, and there were already about a hundred people mingling. Some were tearing it up on the dance floor, while others were chilling at the bar or in booths, chatting, drinking, and playing games.
Since this party had some entry requirements, most of the guys there were from pretty well-off families.
Eric took a look around and saw that the dudes were all decked out in stylish, flashy outfits. Their clothes, hairstyles, and accessories were all on point.
And the girls all looked amazing.
"Eric, I think we're the most underdressed here," Kyle said.
"Yeah," Eric replied with a wry smile.
"But whatever," he shrugged.
Then Eric turned to Kyle and said, "Kyle, you're single now. If you want to impress someone, I can ask the chairman of Green Hill Resort to lend you one of his suits."
"No, Eric. The girls here aren't girlfriend material," Kyle shook his head.
Eric laughed. "You really know what's up. Alright, let's find a place to sit."
He mainly came because of Tina, but after scanning the room, he didn't see her. She probably hadn't arrived yet.
They headed to the bar and ordered a couple of cocktails.
At the bar, a guy named David Carter asked, "You guys from Silverbrook University?"
Eric turned to look at him but didn't recognize him.
David had purple-dyed hair, a leather jacket, and a trendy look. He also had a Maserati car key hanging from his waist, showing off his wealth.
"Yeah, why?" Eric responded.
"I was just wondering how you two got in dressed like that. You had money for the entry fee but not for decent clothes? Aren't you embarrassed to represent Silverbrook University like this?" David sneered, looking at Eric and Kyle with disdain.
Clearly, he was from Silverbrook College of Finance, because most students there knew Eric, but David didn't.
"Thanks for the reminder. My clothes might not be as fancy as yours, but they're clean and tidy. Nothing to be ashamed of," Eric said calmly.
David sneered, "With the way you two look, I bet no girl will come up to you all night!"
"Thanks for your concern, but you don't need to worry about us," Eric replied calmly.
Just then, a tall girl approached David.
"May I invite you to dance?" she asked.
"Of course," David replied, trying to act all gentlemanly.
He stood up, gave Eric and Kyle a smug look, and headed to the dance floor with the tall beauty.
His last look was both boastful and mocking.
"Who does he think he is, trying to lecture and mock me?" Eric said with a smile and a shake of his head.
Kyle added, "Yeah! What's he so proud of? You're the grandson of Sean, the chairman of the Power Group and the richest man in Auroria. If you revealed your identity, all the girls here would probably hurry to invite you!"
"Actually, it's fine. No one bothers me," Eric said, taking a sip of his drink.
For the next while, everyone at the bar got approached by someone, except for Eric and Kyle.
One girl even walked past them and mockingly whispered, "Even bumpkins can get in here," which they heard loud and clear.
As more people arrived, Kyle suddenly patted Eric. "Eric, that's Tina!"
Eric followed Kyle's gaze and saw Tina walking in from outside. He thought, "She must have just arrived."
Tina was rocking a white lace eye mask, a white strapless gown, and a pair of sparkling silver high heels. With her tall, well-proportioned figure and stunning face, she looked absolutely breathtaking.
Given her natural grace, she instantly became the center of attention, drawing the eyes of countless guys.
Most of the girls at this party were here to climb the social ladder. Their families were pretty average, and they were only here because they were pretty.
But Tina was different. She wasn't just beautiful; she came from a good family that had cultivated her grace from a young age.
In terms of demeanor, no girl at the party could hold a candle to Tina.
After she walked in, Tina sat down at the bar and ordered a drink.
Since she wasn't sitting far away, Tina noticed Eric sitting at a booth. She glanced at him but didn't come over to say hi.
A few days ago, when signing up for the costume party, she had mainly done it to annoy Eric. She hadn't planned to actually attend.
But since Eric had signed up, she decided to come because she could use the opportunity to irritate him.
She just wanted to bug Eric enough to make him give up on her.
Not long after Tina sat down, more than ten guys approached her to chat and invite her to dance.
All these guys were from Silverbrook College of Finance.
No one from Silverbrook University came to invite her because they knew Tina's family background and understood that she was out of their league.
But the guys from Silverbrook College of Finance didn't know Tina's background; they only knew she was incredibly beautiful, had a great figure, and an exceptional demeanor.
More and more guys approached Tina, and soon there were over twenty.
"Eric, what should we do?" Kyle asked.
Eric picked up his drink, took a sip, and smiled. "Don't worry, I want to see what she'll do."
He wanted to see how Tina would handle the situation and make her choice.
"Move aside!" A loud voice rang out.
The guys surrounding Tina turned to look and saw a man with purple-dyed hair, wearing a leather jacket, and with a Maserati car key hanging from his waist.
It was David, the guy who had mocked Eric and Kyle at the bar earlier.
"David!" the guys greeted him with smiles, indicating that he held a significant status at Silverbrook College of Finance.
David glanced at them and arrogantly said, "I've taken a liking to this beauty. You don't mind stepping aside, do you?"
"No problem! Of course not!" The guys around Tina nodded and smiled.
"Good," David said, satisfied.
He then walked up to Tina with a gentlemanly demeanor and said, "My name is David, a senior at Silverbrook College of Finance. May I invite you to dance?"
Tina, who had been silent, looked up at him.
"Sure!" she smiled, looking stunning.
"David is so amazing! He succeeded in inviting her right away!"
"I'm so jealous!"
The guys from Silverbrook College of Finance were envious. When they had tried to invite Tina earlier, she had completely ignored them.
At this point, Tina had already stood up.
Seeing Tina agree, David was overjoyed inside.
Though he was ecstatic, he maintained a gentlemanly exterior.
"Wait a moment!" Just then, a voice suddenly rang out.
Everyone turned to look and saw that it was Eric.
