Chapter 137 Underground Boxing Match
"Pantherman, I need you to take out two people right now," Donald said.
"Wait, Mr. Hall, you want Pantherman to off Eric and Wolfman?" Oliver jumped in.
"Obviously," Donald replied, ice-cold.
"Hold up, Mr. Hall. The Silverbrook underground fight's about to kick off! No need to rush. Let's wait for the fight, then we can make our move," Oliver suggested.
After a beat, he added, "If Eric joins the fight, he's definitely sending Wolfman into the ring. We can throw Pantherman in there and take out Wolfman during the match. It'll look legit, and we can show Silverbrook who's boss!"
Oliver grinned, "Once Wolfman's out of the picture, we can send someone to take out Eric. Without his muscle, he's toast."
"Yeah, that makes sense," Donald nodded.
At the last auction, he got humiliated in front of the Silverbrook big shots, and he was itching to get his rep back. This underground fight was the perfect chance to save face and take out Wolfman, killing two birds with one stone.
"Alright, it's a plan!" Donald decided on the spot.
The next day, at the Power Group.
"Mr. Phillips, here's an invite to the Silverbrook underground fight, happening in three days," Cooper said, handing Eric the invite.
"Underground fight? What's that about?" Eric asked, confused.
"Mr. Phillips, the underground fight's run by the Silverbrook Underground Fight Club and happens every two years. This year's the seventh one. All the big bosses in Silverbrook show up. It's a huge deal for them," Cooper explained.
Eric took the invite and tossed it on the table.
"Not going. Not my scene." He really wasn't into that kind of brutal entertainment.
"Mr. Phillips, I get it, but you're Mr. Williams' son. You'll have to deal with these places eventually. It might be good for you to check it out. You don't have to fight, just watch," Cooper suggested.
The underground fight was brutal and intense. More importantly, it was a betting paradise with no limits, which the rich folks loved.
Another thing about the underground fight: no rules. It was a true "no-holds-barred" brawl. No weapons allowed, but anything else goes. The more savage, the better. In the top matches, almost every fight ended with serious injuries, and the death rate was high. That's what got the rich folks' adrenaline pumping.
Cooper broke down the underground fight rules for Eric. Basically, the bosses could send a fighter to represent them if they wanted.
During this, bosses with beef could challenge each other. Their champions would duke it out in the ring to settle scores, and they could place bets before the match.
Bosses without a fighter could hire one on the spot. The underground fight club had plenty of fighters for hire, as long as they paid up.
"I'll think about it. You can go now," Eric said, waving Cooper off.
After Cooper left, Eric's phone rang. It was an unknown number. "Who is this?" he answered.
"Eric, you know my voice, right?" Donald's voice came through.
"Donald, why are you calling? Looking to beg for forgiveness?" Eric said with a smirk. He was kinda shocked that Donald would even bother calling him.
"Beg for forgiveness? Not in a million years!" Donald laughed on the other end. After a few chuckles, he said, "Eric, just wanted to let you know, you gotta show up at the underground fight in three days. Perfect time to settle our beef."
"Your top guy already got wrecked by Wolfman. Where do you get the nerve to challenge me at the underground fight?" Eric sneered.
"That's my problem. See you in three days," Donald said before hanging up.
"Looks like I have no choice but to go," Eric muttered, squinting his eyes. If he didn't show, it'd be like admitting he was scared of Donald.
Throughout the day, every big shot in Silverbrook with serious cash got an invite to the underground fight. No one wanted to miss out on such a big event.
Three days flew by. During those days, Eric visited Tina once, but she was still firm—she didn't need him to take responsibility.
Eric drove out of Silverbrook, heading to the outskirts of a small town. There was an old, abandoned warehouse there. That's where the underground fight was going down.
Despite the rundown warehouse, today it was buzzing. Luxury cars were parked all over the place. Anyone passing by would be shocked to see so many high-end rides outside a dump.
Eric rolled up in his Lamborghini, with Wolfman riding shotgun, and pulled up outside the warehouse.
"Hey, Mr. Phillips!"
"Evening, Mr. Phillips!"
As Eric got out of the car, all the bosses he passed hurriedly greeted him. With his status as Sean's grandson, Eric was a big deal in Silverbrook's high society.
"Eric!" A familiar voice called out.
Eric turned to see Donald striding over, with Oliver by his side.
"Donald, just you and Oliver? No muscle? Gonna send Oliver into the ring?" Eric said, smirking at Donald.
Then he switched it up. "Oh right, your top enforcer Puma's already been taken out. You must be desperate, huh?"
"What? Puma's dead?" The surrounding bosses were all shocked.
"Puma was Mr. Hall's top guy. In past underground fights, Mr. Hall always sent Puma, and he always crushed it! Now he's been taken out by Mr. Phillips' bodyguard?"
"So, Mr. Phillips' bodyguard must be a beast, right?"
The crowd buzzed with chatter.
Hearing Eric bring up this embarrassing stuff, Donald's face turned dark.
"Eric, don't get too cocky. I'll make sure you regret it at tonight's fight!" he spat.
Then Donald quickly walked away. He didn't bring his new enforcer Pantherman, planning to keep him under wraps until he could make a killer entrance in the ring.
Donald thought to himself, 'Eric, don't push your luck. When Pantherman steps into the ring, you'll be the one crying.'
"Let's go," Eric said with a grin, then walked inside with Wolfman.
Inside the abandoned warehouse, it had been transformed into an underground fight arena. After entering, Wolfman asked, "Eric, you’re not gonna make me fight, are you?"
"Who else do I have?" Eric said, shrugging.
"Eric, I've fought tons of underground fights in Kraxxylor. Silverbrook's underground fight is a joke to me," Wolfman said.
Then he changed his tone, "But Eric, when Mr. Williams brought me back from Kraxxylor, I swore I'd never fight in an underground ring again. I can't break that promise!"
"Really? Why didn't you say so earlier?" Eric said with a wry smile. His plan was to have Wolfman fight.
"Eric, you never asked," Wolfman said, looking helpless.
