Chapter 158 You Have No Right to Control Me
Ariel spun around to face Eric, her voice dripping with sweetness. "Hey Eric, I'm Ariel. If you're up for a date, just give me a call anytime."
With a playful wink, Ariel sauntered off, leaving Eric with a bittersweet smile.
"Eric, remember the last masquerade ball? Your cover got blown. Tons of students from our school were there, and they posted about it on the forum. Now, pretty much everyone knows who you are," Kyle said.
"Got it," Eric nodded, finally understanding.
"Eric, you're still staring!" Sharon pouted.
"Eric, Sharon's getting jealous," Kyle chuckled.
Eric felt a bit awkward.
"Eric, you're so amazing. I'm scared I can't keep up with you. There are so many girls out there who are prettier and better than me," Sharon said, looking down.
"But you're one in a million!" Eric grinned, taking Sharon's hand.
As they walked past the school library, they noticed a big crowd gathered outside, buzzing with excitement.
"Eric, let's check it out," Kyle suggested.
Eric nodded and pulled Sharon along as they made their way through the crowd.
"Eric's here! Eric's here!"
As Eric walked in, people noticed and made way for him.
Everyone knew who Eric was now, so no one dared to block his path.
But they were all whispering.
"Tina's the girl Eric's into. Now that he's here, this should be interesting!"
"Yeah, Eric went to the last masquerade ball just for Tina. Some rich guy tried to hit on her, and Eric shut him down!"
"But this time, the rich guy's driving a Bugatti, and it's a limited edition. You hardly ever see one in Silverbrook."
"And the car's got an Aurora Bay plate. Could it be someone from one of the families there?"
"This is gonna be good!"
Hearing the chatter, Eric frowned.
'A Bugatti? An Aurora Bay plate? Could they be talking about Frank?' Eric wondered.
By now, Eric had walked in.
Sure enough, it was Frank's car!
The ground was covered with bright red roses arranged in a big heart shape.
Frank, dressed in a suit, stood in the middle.
The school library had a large electronic billboard.
On the billboard, it read, "Tina, be my girlfriend!"
Clearly, Frank had rented the billboard.
Tina was standing in front of Frank at that moment.
Seeing this, Eric felt a surge of annoyance.
Even though Eric had said he was done with Tina, they had been close, and that was a fact. Seeing someone else confess to her made him uncomfortable deep down!
Especially since it was Frank. Eric couldn't stand him!
"Isn't that Eric?" Hearing the increased murmuring, Frank turned and saw Eric, so did Tina.
Eric, holding Sharon's hand, walked straight up to them.
"Eric, who's this girl?" Tina asked, looking at Sharon.
"Let me introduce you. This is my girlfriend, Sharon," Eric said calmly.
Sharon smiled at Tina and said, "Hi Tina, I'm Sharon."
"Girlfriend!"
Hearing this, Tina's expression changed slightly, a flash of pain and discomfort in her eyes, but she quickly masked it. No one noticed.
"Eric, congrats! Now you don't have to bother me anymore," Tina said with a smile.
Though she was smiling, Tina felt a deep, indescribable pain, like something important had been taken from her.
"Tina, thanks for giving Eric to me," Sharon said with a kind smile.
Sharon knew about Eric and Tina's past and felt a bit guilty towards Tina.
Tina forced a really awkward smile.
Eric chimed in, "Tina, we're done. I shouldn't be meddling in your business, but I gotta say, Frank's bad news. Pick anyone else, just not him."
Frank's face twisted with anger. "You got some nerve. Didn't you learn your lesson yesterday?" he spat, fists clenched like he was ready to throw down.
"Wolfman's around. If you wanna fight, think about whether you can handle him first," Eric shot back, ice-cold.
"You only hide behind your bodyguard. Without him, I'd crush you!" Frank sneered.
"Too bad for you, I've got someone stronger watching my back. Doesn't that just burn you up?" Eric smirked.
Eric continued, "You think yesterday scared me? Don't worry, I'll make sure you get that messing with me ends badly."
Eric stood tall, glaring at Frank, not backing down an inch.
Tina jumped in, "Eric, why should I listen to you? You can date whoever you want, and so can I!"
She turned to Frank, "Frank, I'll go out with you!"
It was clear Tina was doing this just to spite Eric.
"You will?" Frank's face lit up.
"I'll have dinner with you tonight. But being your girlfriend? I need to think about it," Tina clarified.
"Deal!" Frank grinned. For him, dinner was a foot in the door.
"Tina, are you really going to dinner with him?" Eric asked, frowning.
"You're not my boyfriend, so why do you care?" Tina snapped.
Eric bit back his words.
"Sharon, let's go," he said, pulling Sharon away.
As Eric and Sharon walked off, Tina felt a pang of sadness.
"Frank, let's go too!" Tina said angrily, climbing into Frank's Bugatti.
The crowd buzzed with gossip. They thought Tina and Eric were a thing, but now it was all flipped upside down.
Eric and Sharon left the crowd behind.
"Eric, who's this Frank guy? Does he have beef with you?" Sharon asked, curious.
Eric nodded, "Yeah, he messed with one of our Power Group projects yesterday, cost us big time."
"No wonder you were so mad," Sharon said, understanding.
"Frank's too cocky. I need to put him in his place," Eric said, seething.
Seeing Frank's smug face had Eric boiling.
And there was another reason for his anger—Frank was after Tina!
Even though Eric and Tina were supposedly over, she was still his first.
So, deep down, Eric still had feelings for her.
Eric pulled out his phone and called Sharkman, telling him to meet at the restaurant for instructions.
Since Wolfman usually had his back, Sharkman didn't need to be around all the time.
This morning, Eric had Sharkman assigned as the chief instructor at Power Security Company to train the team, calling him when needed.
Golden Palace Restaurant was a quite fancy spot in Silverbrook.
Eric arrived with Sharon and Kyle.
Two hostesses stood at the entrance.
A couple ahead of them reached the door, and the hostesses quickly bowed and greeted them warmly, "Welcome."
Eric, Sharon, and Kyle reached the entrance right after.
