Chapter 131 Doubt

Inside the Lambo, Eric grinned while driving, "Gary, told ya I wasn't just talkin'. Believe me now?"

"Man, yeah! But it still feels like a dream. How'd you end up driving a Lambo? Did you hit the jackpot or something?" Gary asked, all hyped up.

"Hit the jackpot? You could say that," Eric replied, smirking.

"So, you doing better than Cody now?" Gary asked, eyeing Eric.

"Don't even compare me to that guy. He only shows off to regular folks. In the real rich crowd, he's a nobody," Eric said, cool as a cucumber.

"True that." Gary laughed out loud. Then, he got even more excited, "Eric, when you rolled out in that Lambo, not just us, but even Cody and his crew were floored. Seeing their shocked faces was priceless! Finally, Cody got a taste of his own medicine!"

Gary, like Eric, had been pushed around by Cody and his gang since high school. He'd been dying to see Cody get knocked down a peg. But lately, Cody seemed to be doing well, and Gary thought he'd never see the day Cody got embarrassed.

Just now, he finally saw the scene he had dreamed of, so he was naturally stoked, pumped, and over the moon.

"He used to mess with us a lot. Just seeing him embarrassed ain't enough. I'll make sure you see him humiliated, bullied, and even kneeling before us like a loser he was born to be!" Eric said, squinting his eyes.

"Really? That would be epic!" Gary said, full of anticipation.

Golden KTV was a famous karaoke joint in Greenfield City, backed by the Starlight Entertainment. Cody and his buddies had already rolled up to the entrance. Right now, they didn't look too happy.

"Cody, I've been thinking, Eric doesn't seem like the type to drive a Lambo! If he could afford one, why would he be handing out flyers at the square?" Mateo said.

Lincoln quickly nodded. "Exactly. From what I know, his family is broke, and he wears cheap clothes. I can't wrap my head around how he can drive a Lambo."

"I can't get it either!" Cody said through gritted teeth.

For Cody, today’s class reunion was supposed to be his moment to shine, but after Eric rolled out the Lambo, his spotlight was totally stolen!

"Cody, I bet his Lambo is rented, just to show off at today's reunion!" Mateo said.

"Yeah! That's gotta be it!" Lincoln nodded repeatedly.

"Makes sense!" Cody nodded too.

For a moment, many classmates nodded in agreement. They also couldn't believe that Eric could drive a Lambo.

"He’s got some nerve, renting a car just to show off to me! If I don't expose him today, I don't deserve my reputation!" Cody said through gritted teeth.

"Cody, how do you plan to expose him?" Lincoln asked.

"You'll see soon enough. Let's go inside!" Cody waved his hand and led the group into Golden KTV.

Golden KTV's VIP room was a big room that could easily fit forty to fifty people. Since Eric got there first, when Cody and his crew walked in, Eric and Gary were already waiting inside.

"Cody, your Range Rover is really slow, took you forever to get here," Eric said with a grin.

"Eric, the Lambo of your is rented, what are you showing off for?" Mateo pointed at Eric and shouted.

Lincoln chimed in, "Yeah, renting a luxury car to fool us? Do you think we're idiots?"

"Rent? You think I rented the car?" Eric shook his head and smiled. Eric didn't expect that even after he drove the car out, they still didn't believe him.

Cody stepped up with a smirk and said, "Eric, if that car ain't rented, you must be loaded. So, how about you cover all the expenses at the KTV tonight?"

Cody was setting a trap to expose Eric's true colors. If Eric chickened out, then Cody could be sure Eric was just a broke dude.

"Even if you didn't say it, I was planning to treat everyone," Eric said, cool as a cucumber.

"Awesome! You said it!" Cody laughed heartily when he saw Eric agree.

Cody wasn't worried about Eric agreeing. He had a plan for both outcomes. If Eric dared to agree, Cody would go all out, and when it came time for Eric to pay, Cody wanted to see how Eric would handle it. If Eric couldn't pay, his true finance would be revealed.

"Waiter, bring us ten bottles of Louis XIII! And ten bottles of 1995 Lafite!" Cody said grandly. Since Cody wasn't paying, he ordered the priciest stuff.

"Ten bottles of Louis XIII and ten bottles of 1995 Lafite, how much would that cost?"

"At least 40 to 50 grand!"

"What? 40 to 50 grand?"

The classmates in the room were all shocked. Such expensive wine, they wouldn't even dare to dream of ordering it.

Stella also looked worried.

"Are you sure you want to order ten bottles of Louis XIII and ten bottles of 1995 Lafite?" the waiter asked.

"Of course, hurry up." Cody waved his hand.

"Alright, I'll go get it!" The waiter nodded and prepared to leave.

"Hold up." Eric called out to the waiter.

Seeing this, Cody immediately laughed. "What? You scared after hearing my order? If you're scared, it's not too late to back out now."

"Scared? Sorry, I don't know the meaning of 'scared'," Eric said, glaring at Cody with a cold smile.

Then, he turned to the waiter.

"1995 Lafite is too low-class. Change to 1982 Lafite," Eric said calmly.

"What? Ten bottles of 1982 Lafite?" The classmates present all looked at Eric in disbelief. Although many of them didn't know the exact price of 1982 Lafite, they were well aware of its lofty reputation as the king of red wines—an accolade not awarded lightly.

They all knew that only the truly wealthy could afford such wine, and yet, here was Eric, audacious enough to order ten bottles in one go. Even Cody's jaw dropped in astonishment. They had ordered expensive items to put Eric in a tight spot, but Eric had countered by ordering something even more extravagant.

Cody was painfully aware of the value of 1982 Lafite. The price of this wine in Eldoria had been driven up so high that it was almost impossible to buy, and even Cody himself had never tasted such fine wine.

The waiter also said, "Sir, 1982 Lafite is ten thousand dollars a bottle in our store. Are you sure you want to order it?"

"Ten thousand dollars?" Everyone gasped at the price.

Ten bottles would cost him a hundred grand, an astronomical figure for them! And this was just for wine, which would be gone once they drank it!

Stella finally couldn't hold back and walked quickly to Eric.

"Eric, I know you want to save face, but there's no need for this. Ordering such expensive wine, if you can't pay, your life could be ruined," she said worriedly.

"Thanks for your concern, Stella, but for me, this amount of money is nothing," Eric said with a smile.

"Stella, he wants to pretend to be rich. Leave him alone," Cody sneered.

Although Cody was surprised that Eric would order such expensive wine, for him, the more expensive Eric ordered, the better. He wanted to see how Eric would handle it when it came time to pay.
