Chapter 161 Being Talked About

Eric felt a bit off. 'If they were from my company, they should recognize me, right? At least say hi or something?' he thought.

But nope, nothing.

"Are you guys from Power Group?" Eric asked.

Those girls all turned to look at him.

Then, just as quickly, they turned away, ignoring him.

Eric felt a bit awkward. 'Did they just ignore me?' he wondered.

Just then, Ashley Cook, a girl in professional attire, spoke up, "We're here for the secretary position. We passed the initial interview yesterday and are here for the second one today."

All the girls were dressed stylishly, except for Ashley, who was dressed formally and conservatively, making her stand out.

Ashley was pretty too, but she didn't dress up as much as the others; just light makeup.

If the other girls were sexy beauties, she was the pure beauty type.

"So you're here for the interview. Got it, thanks." Eric smiled at Ashley.

At least Ashley was nice enough to answer him, easing his awkwardness.

Lauren Gonzalez, a woman with burgundy wavy curls, laughed and said, "Ashley, why are you even talking to him? He looks like a low-level employee, maybe a security guard or a janitor."

Though Lauren was good-looking, Eric found her arrogance off-putting.

"That's right, I'm a janitor," Eric said with a smile.

Lauren laughed, "See, I knew it. He really is a janitor."

Then, Lauren checked her watch.

"The interview is at eight, and it's already seven fifty. Why isn't the elevator here yet?" Lauren said anxiously.

"Yeah, where's the elevator?" The other girls seemed anxious too.

About a minute later, the elevator finally arrived and opened.

The girls all piled in.

Eric followed them in.

As soon as Eric stepped in, the elevator beeped due to being overweight.

"It's overweight! Someone needs to get out! We're in a hurry!" Lauren said sarcastically.

"Yeah, we're in a hurry!" The other girls started complaining too.

"But I'm in a hurry too. If I'm late, I'll get my pay docked!" Eric said with a smile.

"That's your problem, not ours!" Lauren snapped.

Another girl chimed in, "You're a man, can you stop being so shameless and get out?"

"Everyone, stop arguing. I'll get out." Ashley said.

Then, Ashley walked out of the elevator.

"Why you? Aren't you afraid of being late for the second interview and losing this opportunity?" Eric looked at her in surprise.

"It's okay. I'll explain to the interviewer that the elevator was overweight. Besides, I didn't have much of a chance to get the job anyway. You're different; you're already an employee. If you lose your job because of being late, that would be a big loss for you." Ashley said.

As soon as Ashley finished speaking, the elevator doors closed, and it started going up.

Inside the elevator.

"You're really shameless, taking up space over a girl," a young woman in a skirt said.

"Exactly, you kept your job, but someone else lost their opportunity because of you," another young woman added.

Lauren laughed, "Isn't this better? At least we have one less competitor."

"That's true!" The young women in the elevator nodded in agreement.

Eric just smiled and didn't respond to their comments.

In a normal situation where the elevator was overweight, Eric, being the last one to enter, would definitely step out.

But then Eric had a sudden idea. Since they were here to apply for a secretary position at his company, he might as well see if anyone would step out of the elevator.

So, Eric mentioned he was in a hurry too.

He didn't expect anyone to actually step out, but Ashley did.

Stepping out of the elevator at that moment was basically giving up the opportunity.

Inside the elevator, the girls kept chatting.

"This time, we're applying for the secretary position of the chairman of Power Group. If we get the job, that would be amazing," one girl said.

Hearing this, Eric was stunned. 'They're here to apply to be my secretary?'

Eric had wondered earlier who they were applying to be a secretary for, and now he finally got it.

Since taking office, Eric hadn't spent much time at the company, so he hadn't specifically hired a secretary.

Cooper had lent him his former secretary.

Cooper had previously suggested that Eric should hire a dedicated secretary as soon as possible.

Just then, Lauren said, "By the way, I heard a rumor that the chairman of Power Group is very young, only in his twenties, and he's Sean's direct grandson. That's why he could become the chairman at such a young age!"

"He's young and comes from such a good family! If I could become his woman, I'd become rich!"

"Don't even think about it. We can't reach someone of his level," a girl in a short skirt said.

Lauren laughed, "Not necessarily. He's in his twenties. If I could become his secretary and spend a lot of time with him, who knows what might happen? I could become his woman!"

Another girl in a black short skirt added, "If I could become his secretary, I would definitely try to seduce him often! I don't believe he could resist!"

"Exactly!" The girls nodded in agreement.

After discussing this, they all seemed very hopeful, dreaming of something happening with the chairman of Power Group and becoming his woman, which would lead to a life of luxury.

Because of this, they were even more determined to get this position!

Unfortunately, they didn't know that the person they were talking about was standing in the elevator with them.

Hearing their conversation, Eric showed a wry smile.

Eric didn't expect that they were all targeting him.

"Everyone, I think you should give up on that idea," Eric said with a smile.

"None of your business!" Lauren glared at Eric.

"Yeah, none of your business!" Several other girls echoed.

"Alright." Eric smiled and said no more.

At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and the girls all walked out one after another.

After they got out, Eric directly pressed the button for the top floor and went straight up.

In the small conference room of the company.

This was the place for today's second interview.

"Why are there only six of you? Where's the other one?" The chief examiner, Brandon Hughes, frowned and looked at the time, 8:01.

Just then, Ashley ran in, out of breath.

When Ashley entered, there was a broom placed horizontally at the door, blocking the way.

The six girls who had come in earlier had all stepped over the broom.

Seeing the broom lying on the ground, Ashley didn't hesitate to bend down to pick it up and move it aside.

As soon as Ashley picked up the broom, the door closed.

"What are you doing!" Brandon quickly walked over and scolded.

"I saw a broom blocking the way, so I wanted to pick it up," Ashley said weakly.

"Why do you have to meddle in everything? This broom was used to prop the door open. Now the door is locked, and I don't have the key. I have to call a colleague to unlock it!" Brandon said angrily.
