Chapter 095 A Successful Person?
The groom watched Eric walk away, gritted his teeth, and said, "A poor man who dresses so shabbily dares to talk to me like this at my wedding? I will definitely not let him off!"
The groom considered that it was their wedding ceremony, which was why he didn't deal with Eric. Under ordinary circumstances, he probably would have called several people to beat up Eric long ago.
"After the wedding, I'll teach you a lesson."
After saying that, the groom turned around and continued to welcome the guests.
As for Madelyn, she didn't say much anymore.
She only thought to herself that Eric hadn't changed much after so many years. He was still struggling and dared to speak ill of her husband.
After Eric entered the banquet area, he suddenly saw a table with a sign that read 'Table for Ex-Boyfriends'. There were two people sitting at the table, engaged in conversation.
Eric glanced at them; both men wore suits and stylish watches. One was relatively thin, while the other was slightly chubby with dyed blonde hair.
On the other hand, Eric wore casual clothes as usual.
After giving it some thought, Eric went straight to that table and sat down.
As he sat down, a voice said, "Another one."
"Are you also one of Madelyn's ex-boyfriends? What period were you with her?"
The two young men started asking Eric about Madelyn.
"I was her first love," Eric said calmly.
There was no need to hide this matter, so Eric just stated it directly.
"Wow, first love, huh? How did she dump you back then?" Woody looked interested.
Vince also looked at Eric, wanting to know the answer.
"Because, at that time, I snatched Madelyn away from him!" Before Eric could reply, a voice came from behind.
Shortly after, a figure approached and sat down at the table.
Eric took a closer look and saw that it was Nick, whom he had just encountered at the ceremony.
"Wow, so you're also Madelyn's ex-boyfriend?" Woody and Vince at the table looked at Nick.
"That's right, I should be Madelyn's second boyfriend. Madelyn is the one I stole from this jerk," Nick said, sitting down while casting a glance at Eric.
"So, are you two enemies then?" Woody and Vince at the table seemed excited.
Woody looked at Eric and asked, "He stole your first love from you, are you just going to sit back and watch?"
Before Eric could speak, Nick smiled and said, "What can he do? What else can he do? I remember he actually came to settle the score with me privately, but he ended up getting beaten up by me."
"Wow, impressive!" Woody and Vince both gave Nick a thumbs up.
However, Eric frowned.
"By the way, how did you and Madelyn break up afterward?" Woody asked.
"I was just playing around with her, got bored, and dumped her," Nick casually replied.
"Impressive, we all got dumped, but you dumped her on your own terms," Woody and Vince chimed in.
"Haha, thanks, thanks!" Nick smirked.
"By the way, what kind of work do you all do?" Nick asked.
"I work as a sales manager in a small company, making around $20,000 a month," Woody said.
Vince also spoke up, "I have an online store, making around $20,000 to $30,000 a month, not bad."
The two of them proudly displayed the image of successful individuals.
"What about you?" Woody and Vince looked at Nick.
"I work in the management team under The Power Group. I make about $20,000 a month, and with the high bonuses and dividends from The Power Group, on average, I make around $40,000 to $50,000 a month," Nick said.
Woody and Vince both gave Nick a thumbs up. Nick appeared proud and pleased with himself.
Eric didn't engage in their discussion, uninterested in comparing achievements.
He only listened when he heard Nick mention The Power Group.
When Eric heard the management team under the Power Group, he was slightly startled. He never expected his former rival to be working under his own company.
At this moment, Nick suddenly looked at Eric and asked with a smirk, "What are you doing for work now, you bastard?"
Nick's tone was teasing, most likely trying to ridicule Eric and elevate himself.
"Oh, me? I'm studying at New York University," Eric said calmly.
"New York University? Nothing impressive will come out of that in the future," Nick scoffed.
"Yeah, it's pretty ordinary," Woody and Vince nodded in agreement.
In their eyes, among the four people sitting at the table, Eric was the most hopeless and poorly dressed.
Eric gave a cold smile, "Ordinary? Nick, to be honest, it's your great fortune to sit at the same table as me."
"What?" Nick laughed.
Nick chuckled and said, "Look at yourself, dressed so shabbily. What makes you so special?"
"Wanna know what makes me special? I'm afraid it'll scare you to death," Eric sneered.
"What? Scare me to death? Haha!" Nick burst into laughter, as if he heard the greatest joke ever.
Woody and Vince at the table also covered their mouths, laughing at the exchange.
"Nick, I assure you, the consequences of offending me will be tragic," Eric calmly stated.
The feud between Eric and Nick can be traced back to middle school.
Back then, Eric truly hated Nick because Nick not only took Madelyn away from him but also joined others in beating him up.
However, after all these years, Eric didn't want to have any further dealings with Nick.
But since Nick always picked on him for mockery, Eric would never let it slide!
Given this, Eric had made up his mind to settle the score of their middle school grudge today.
"What? Bad consequences if I offend you? Haha, you're hilarious. Look at your poor appearance, I'm afraid you can only satisfy your ego with empty words," Nick laughed.
"Nick, don't waste time here with this jerk. Today, there are at least a dozen or twenty bosses, as well as many well-connected upper-class individuals. It's a great opportunity to network. Let's go mingle," Woody said.
Vince added, "Right, how can we miss such a good chance?"
They came to attend this wedding to expand their connections.
"True," Nick nodded, then followed these two and went off to mingle.
Of course, they didn't bother to ask Eric, as they didn't consider him significant at all.
Unfortunately, they had no idea at this moment that Eric was the most influential figure among all the attendees today.
Eric glanced at these people present, and most of them were dressed elegantly, with some clearly looking like bosses.
After all, today's groom was a multi-millionaire, so some of the attendees were also bosses. Most of the bosses present at the scene were millionaires.
However, Eric didn't know most of the bosses in attendance.
The reason was simple. The bosses that Eric recognized are worth at least one billion dollars, while the bosses present are mostly worth millions.
Bosses with assets in the tens of millions were not qualified to know Eric!
Even in the previous auction, bosses with assets in the tens of millions didn't even have the qualifications to enter the auction.
So, even if these bosses saw Eric, they probably wouldn't recognize him.
Among them, Eric only saw one familiar figure. Eric remembered that after the last auction, this Alfred handed him a business card.
Alfred's net worth is over a billion dollars.
If Alfred saw Eric, he would definitely be surprised and might even come over to pay his respects.
Unfortunately, Alfred was surrounded by many small bosses who wanted to know and befriend him. He was too busy to notice Eric sitting inconspicuously.
