Chapter 19 Roger Chooses Power
Roger drove alone to the agreed location. He got out of the car and dragged 20 million in cash to the warehouse, demanding that they release Linda. The scar on the face of the gang leader, Monkey, looked quite scary as he checked several stacks of bills for authenticity and his eyes lit up when he confirmed it was real money.
"Mr. Harris is really rich."
"If Miss Howard had been this sensible earlier, she wouldn't have suffered like this."
With a gesture from him, his men immediately released Linda. As soon as Linda gained her freedom, she rushed into Roger's arms crying: "Roger why did you take so long? My leg seems to be broken...it hurts...they said if you didn't come soon enough they would rape me...wah wah..."
Roger comforted her while his eyes were fixed on Sierra. She struggled desperately but couldn't say a word with cloth stuffed in her mouth.
She knew Roger well enough that sacrificing one Sierra for power wasn't a big deal! Throughout all this time, Roger remained silent as he watched Sierra struggle until she slowly gave up hope...
Monkey grinned and lightly tapped Sierra's chin with a knife: "Mr. Harris, how can such a beautiful girl only be worth two million? You're so rich anyway; just take her along too or else we'll get cheap thrills from this girl instead."
Two million was not something that Roger couldn’t afford; it was something he could not risk taking! Eric already suspected him and he couldn’t risk letting Linda suspect anything between him and Sierra either! If Linda found out about their relationship and broke off their engagement, then years of hard work would go down the drain!
Between power and women, Roger chose power.
He dared not look at Sierra with hatred in her eyes; turning away coldly he said: "I don't know her!"
Sierra had already guessed the outcome and her eyes were empty. Tears slid down from the corners of her eyes...Roger, he was really ruthless!
Ignoring Sierra's plight, Roger walked towards his car with Linda in his arms. Linda gently pulled him aside and whispered: "Is this okay? What if she gets raped? Jason will be heartbroken."
Roger pressed on her leg causing Linda to cry out in pain: "It hurts so much...Roger, please take me to the hospital quickly."
He put her into the car and as he stood up straight for a final glance at the warehouse.
Sierra, don't blame me!
As soon as Roger got into his car, he immediately started it up; afraid that if he waited any longer he would regret it!
...
Abandoned warehouse.
Monkey spat out a curse: "This worthless thing isn't worth two million! We can only get some cheap thrills from it." He urged his men to hurry up: "Have your fun but don't waste time!"
Those thugs were excited beyond measure. They had never seen such an exquisite woman before; honestly speaking she looked even better than Mr. Harris' fiancée...if they succeeded then who knows how happy they would be?
Fear filled Sierra's eyes.
She hated them even more now!
If before she still hoped that Roger's subordinates would show mercy, then from this moment onwards all that remained for Roger was hatred in Sierra’s heart!
The thugs were getting restless when suddenly there was a crisp sound coming from one corner of the warehouse.
Who was it?
Eric leaned against a gray wall playing with a lighter in his hand. His noble temperament combined with good looks made him stand out sharply against this shabby warehouse.
He smiled faintly: "Miss Adler, why do you always look so miserable every time I see you?"
Sierra froze.
Slowly turning her head around, she saw Eric walking towards her...at the same time countless police sirens sounded around them.
At this moment, she had never been more grateful to him!
