Chapter 26 A Family of Jerks!
The next afternoon, Sierra was discharged from the hospital. She hesitated whether to call Eric or send him a thank-you message on WhatsApp while holding her phone. After much deliberation, she gave up! Sierra completed the discharge procedures and prepared to go home with light luggage before going to work at the music center in the afternoon. As she walked out of the ward, she ran into an acquaintance at the door - Roger's mother and sister Elizabeth Harris. They were carrying several bags of imported fruits and chatting as they walked over, probably here to see Linda. Everyone felt a little uneasy when they saw Sierra. Sierra nodded lightly and was about to leave when Mrs. Harris stopped her and said kindly: "Sierra, I have something I want to say to you." Elizabeth pulled Mrs. Harris' sleeve indulgently and said: "Mom, my brother has broken up with her! What else do you have to say?" Mrs. Harris was very shrewd; she knew exactly what her son had done wrong, so now all she wanted was for Sierra not to appear in front of Roger again so as not ruin his happiness.
Mrs. Harris asked her daughter first leave.
Elizabeth stomped away after grumbling.
After Elizabeth left, Mrs. Harris put on a smiley face again: “sierra, in fact we should sit down together for coffee since we are old acquaintances. But today, Linda’s parents are discussing their wedding date. I really can't spare any time."
Sierra felt disappointed.
When The Harris family encountered difficulties before, Sierra used all her savings to help them. Mrs. Harris kept saying that she is The only daughter-in-law of The Harris family, and if Roger ever betrayed Her, she would never let him off. How long has it been? Everything changed!
Sierra smiled faintly. She thought even smiling seemed unnecessary now.
Mrs. Harris felt a little embarrassed by Sierra's coldness, but she still added: "Actually, you are also very good! I regret that you and Roger broke up. Now that Roger has found his happiness, you should plan for your own happiness too! Don't waste your youth." Sierra was disgusted.
She didn't want to pay attention to her at all, but when she saw someone new appear around the corner, she said lightly and firmly: "Don't worry."
Mrs. Harris smiled: "I'm relieved if you think so!"
She turned around to find Linda but saw her son's gloomy face instead.
Roger had one hand in his pocket and stared coldly at Sierra as he said: "Mom, go upstairs!"
Mrs. Harris forced a smile and left reluctantly, but Roger stayed behind.
Sierra felt completely numb.
What she lost wasn't just love; it was also the embarrassment of having once given her heart wholeheartedly only to have it trampled on...
Roger sneered: "Feeling uncomfortable? No one asked you to do those things! Sierra...the love you thought was selfless sacrifice is nothing more than an emotional response from yourself! But you're not stupid; You know how to find a new lover!"
Sierra retorted with a cold laugh: “Thanks for reminding me Mr. Harris."
Roger narrowed his beautiful phoenix eyes with a deep layer of darkness in them. He laughed instead of getting angry: “If Eric is like this too then why hasn’t he helped You? Sierra, you can’t handle men like Eric. You will regret it someday!"
Sierra lowered her head slightly and smiled faintly: “What do I have to regret? Roger, what else can I lose?"
Without explaining anything, Sierra left without looking back!
Roger stood there for a long time before laughing coldly, “sierra, don’t push me!"
At this moment, Linda called and her voice was sweet: “Roger, where are you? My parents are all here waiting for you..."
Roger comforted her gently, "I'll be right there."
