Chapter 21 Eric Takes Care of Sierra Personally to Speed Up Recovery
Sierra was very embarrassed. But Eric had thick skin and insisted on feeding her a glass of water before letting her talk to the elders: "Miss Adler was implicated by Linda, so it's only right that we take care of her."
Dr. Smith had a good temper: "So that's how it is! Your identity changed really quickly!" After checking Sierra and confirming that there were no problems, he smiled and said, "It should be faster for you to recover with Eric taking care of you personally."
Sierra blushed!
Dr. Smith left with a smile.
Sierra took out her phone intending to call Olivia but Eric said, "I'll help you make the call and also tell Olivia that you will be away on business for a few days."
Sierra: "..."
Eric seemed oblivious to her dissatisfaction as he casually added, "I'll have my assistant bring some food over."
Sierra couldn't hold back any longer.
She asked him, "Are you keeping such close tabs on me because you're afraid I'll ruin your sister's happiness?"
Eric leaned against the bedside table while sending messages through WhatsApp. He chuckled at her words.
"What does Miss Adler plan on using to ruin things? Her body or memories from an unbearable past relationship?"
"I thought Roger had already made his choice."
...
He was extremely handsome but merciless with his words. Any bit of goodwill Sierra felt towards him vanished instantly.
She turned over deliberately facing away from him.
With legs crossed elegantly in front of the bed while looking at the woman lying down, Eric let out an almost imperceptible chuckle.
It seemed like he was angry!
After about half an hour, Eric's secretary brought dinner over.
The secretary recognized Sierra having met her once before when she visited their law firm thinking it was a one-sided entanglement. Who knew that their boss would be so attentive, personally taking care of her and using his connections to provide everything she needed.
The secretary's eyes held some ambiguity.
Sierra wasn't in the mood for this and was actually hungry. She thanked them and opened the wooden lunchbox which contained easily digestible meat porridge suitable for patients.
It smelled delicious!
Warmth flowed through Sierra's heart as she felt Eric's thoughtfulness. Her personality was already soft, so when moved, she quickly lowered her head saying: "Mr. Howard, thank you today!"
Eric had no intention of having dinner with her together.
He still crossed his long legs while dealing with work on his phone casually saying: "Miss Adler doesn't need to be polite! Besides, I have other motives."
Sierra was momentarily stunned by what he said.
She owed him a favor since he was someone powerful who could help her out but didn't know what else he wanted from her. She humbled herself: "I'm just being overly cautious."
Eric looked at her intently while Sierra tried not to meet his gaze pretending to drink porridge instead: "Really?"
His aura was too strong causing Sierra not daring to look at him directly anymore: "Yes."
Eric seemed satisfied and left with his secretary.
The ward became quiet again.
Sierra lay alone on the hospital bed feeling empty all around...she still felt uncomfortable so decided to close her eyes and sleep it off.
When she woke up again, it was already 9 pm at night.
Because it was a VIP ward area, it was particularly quiet at night except for the rustling sound of leaves outside accompanied by insects' chirping sounds.
Sierra walked over to the window and opened it.
There is a garden downstairs with lush trees decorated with various flowers; they were blooming perfectly during early summer season.
Suddenly Sierra wanted to go downstairs for a walk.
After a moment, she stepped on the soft green grass and smelled the fresh scent of grass feeling very comfortable.
The moon was bright and stars were sparse; everything was silent.
As Sierra planned her bland future, a soft voice suddenly sounded: "Roger, kiss me again..."
