Chapter 33: Sierra, Beg Me!
Sierra lowered her gaze and said with great clarity, "It's just his pride at work." Roger didn't love her. He simply couldn't accept the shame of being dependent on the Howard family. He wanted to salvage some dignity in other ways, and she was the woman he had precisely targeted - a woman who once loved him deeply.
Sarah felt even worse. She hugged Sierra and said, "Let's ignore him; he has split personality disorder!"
Sierra murmured in agreement. She already had a plan in mind - after her father's affairs were settled, she would leave New York with Olivia and start anew somewhere else. But she still felt guilty because it was her emotions that caused her father to go to jail and led Olivia into a life of turmoil.
After Sarah comforted her for a while, she left for something urgent.
But things got worse for Sierra afterwards as Roger went all out against her. One by one, all of the part-time jobs where Sierra worked called to terminate their cooperation with her. And Sierra could only nod numbly.
The last call came from Roger himself which Sierra answered without saying anything at first - there was only heavy breathing on both ends of the phone line.
Finally, Sierra spoke coldly: "Roger, what do you want?"
"What do I want?" Roger sneered coldly over the phone before continuing, "You don't know what I want?"
Sierra remained silent but he couldn't help but speak again: "Sierra beg me! Beg me so that everything can be resolved! Everything you've lost will be compensated twice over now! You'll live better than before! Remember how happy we were together back then?"
And then she hung up on him.
On his end of the line, Roger slowly put down his phone, his black eyes filled with anger.
