Chapter 7 Eric, do you know her?
Sierra went home.
Olivia was burning incense and looked hopeful when she saw Sierra return. Sierra's face was pale as she shook her head.
Disappointed, Olivia wanted to scold her but ultimately softened and only said, "Your clothes are all wet. Go take a shower so you don't catch a cold."
Sierra nodded.
She took a shower and medicine, but still caught a cold with dizziness.
At midnight, Sarah called impatiently wanting to know the results.
Sierra spoke hoarsely once over the phone.
Sarah was stunned: "Is Eric really Liu Xiaohui reincarnated? They hugged each other and even kissed. He can resist it? Sierra... could he have some health problems?"
Sierra whispered softly: "No, I feel pretty normal!"
Sarah felt relieved and encouraged Sierra again: "As long as he is healthy, I don't believe you can't win him over."
Sierra smiled bitterly in response.
She knew that unless Eric wanted it too, she couldn't seduce him on her own.
After chatting with Sarah for a while, she fell asleep again after hanging up the phone. When she woke up at noon the next day, Olivia wasn't home and the house was quiet.
This made Sierra feel worse. She checked her temperature which had risen to 39.5 degrees Celsius (103 degrees Fahrenheit).
She struggled to eat something before taking a taxi to the hospital where there were many people waiting in line for an hour before seeing a doctor who gave her an IV drip treatment.
By three o'clock in the afternoon when they hung up the IV bag on Sierra's hand; exhausted from running around these past few days; half an hour later she fell asleep leaning against one of those crude chairs nearby.
Eric accompanied his mother to pick up medication at the hospital when he happened to see Sierra in the infusion room.
Sierra was asleep.
The back of her fair hand had a needle inserted, and her sleeping face looked pale and pitiful.
Eric's gaze lingered on her for a few more seconds than necessary.
Mrs. Howard noticed her son's expression and followed his line of sight before exclaiming with surprise: "Eric, do you know this young lady?"
Eric replied indifferently: "We've only met once."
Mrs. Howard told him: "I wanted to register first but the hospital procedures are much more complicated now than before. This young lady taught me how to do it. I didn't expect that you knew her too."
Eric glanced at Sierra again.
Sierra woke up just then.
She saw Eric and forgot about the needle in her hand as she stood up abruptly; suddenly, that transparent tube turned red as she frowned lowly while sitting down again.
Eric furrowed his brows slightly.
Mrs. Howard took a liking to Sierra and said to Eric: "Stay here with Miss Adler! It looks pitiful for someone who is sick all alone."
Although he didn't want to stay initially, when faced with Mrs. Howard's gaze, he agreed anyway since Sierra couldn't refuse either way.
After sending his mother off to the parking lot where their driver waited early on; Mrs. Howard couldn’t help but say again: “This Miss Adler seems nice! Eric...you're almost 30 years old in two years' time so it’s time for you get married.”
He casually responded without letting on that if his mother knew that Sierra was Roger's ex-girlfriend would she still be so enthusiastic?
Mrs. Howard sighed inwardly at not being able to persuade him further.
When Eric returned back into the infusion room, Sierra sat there lost in thought.
Admittedly, he liked Sierra's body especially those slender white legs which were quite tempting to play with in his hands.
But that was all there was to it.
He only wanted to be involved with her body, not her life.
Eric sat next to Sierra and asked coldly: "How many bottles are left?"
Sierra didn't expect him to come back. She couldn't afford to offend him either so she replied softly: "There's only one bottle left."
Eric said nothing as he lowered his head and dealt with work on his phone.
Sierra couldn't find an opportunity to speak and slowly fell asleep again.
In a daze, she seemed to hear Eric talking with the nurse. Then, a coat covered her legs which were exposed before; covering them tightly...
