Chapter 40 Roger, We Don't Have to Be Like This

Sierra remained silent.
Roger looked at her for a moment before setting down his glass and standing up. "Let's eat!" he said.
"Roger, you don't have to do this," Sierra said coldly.
At her words, Roger chuckled lightly. He walked over to her and pinched her sharp and beautiful chin while whispering softly, "You're right! We really don't have to be like this. After all, you treat me as if I'm some kind of monster... Sierra, do you hate me that much?"
Sierra stood straight without allowing herself to shed any tears. She didn't think someone like Roger was worth it.
She stared at him and spoke softly: "My love or hatred towards you won't change the outcome."
"Well then why not just love me? At least that way you'll feel better," Roger coaxed as he gently caressed her face with his hand which seemed reluctant to let go of its hold on her skin.
He had other women around him including a beautiful fiancée but Sierra was different; she was the piece of meat he had been holding back from eating for four years now - he wanted nothing more than to devour every inch of her!
With his face close against hers in an attempt at seduction, he whispered into her ear: "Why don't we make a deal? You stay here tonight?"
Sierra's eyes turned red but she kept calm when she replied: "I need to go home tonight! And... Roger if you want my company then wait until my father and Olivia leave New York safely otherwise there is no point in us talking about anything."
Roger took a step back and examined Sierra closely before laughing lightly.
"When did you become so sharp-tongued?" He asked playfully.
Feeling good today for some reason unknown to Sierra, he agreed: "Alright! I'll listen to you! As long as you promise to stay with me, I will make sure Mr. Adler and Olivia leave New York safely! I'll return everything that belongs to the Adler family!"
Sierra breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly Roger hugged her slender waist tightly and rested his chin on her thin shoulder while speaking softly: "I'll buy a villa for you in the suburbs. And when I have free time, I'll come and be with you."
Sierra remained cold but not as sharp-tongued as before.
Roger wanted to please her so he whispered into her earlobe: "Let's have another child together? Sierra, I want a little girl who is just like you."
Sierra felt disgusted!
Sarah was right; Roger had split personalities! How else could he do such terrible things yet act so affectionate?
She loathed him and stiffened up against his touch.
But how could Roger not know this?
He sneered at her reaction but didn't care too much about it. After all, she was in his hands now - he would slowly train her until she became pure white paper upon which only his name was written...
...
Sierra didn't stay any longer than necessary.
When leaving, Roger personally escorted her out of the villa gate where she received a set of keys from him.
"I will withdraw my lawsuit tomorrow! Your father and Olivia will both be fine!" said Roger nonchalantly.
"Roger, don't worry...you won't be disappointed," replied Sierra calmly before turning around without waiting for him any longer. She walked away into the night rain that fell like silk threads leaving behind an elegant silhouette under the light of the entrance hall lamp.
Roger watched as Sierra disappeared into darkness with nothing left in his hand except rejection...he suddenly had a feeling that no matter what means he used to keep Sierra by his side, her heart was no longer with him.
But Roger didn't feel lost for too long. He firmly believed that Sierra belonged to him and it was just a man's desire to conquer her; he had never truly loved her.
Never!!!

Sorry Mr. Howard
