Chapter 49 Revenge

Despite Eric's teasing, he readily agreed.
"I knew my brother was the best." Linda tried to ease their relationship by pulling Roger aside. She always felt that something was off between them, but she didn't know why.
Roger was going to be a son-in-law of the Howard family. The size of the Howard Group was several times larger than that of the Harris family, and in terms of connections, the Harris family couldn't compare with the Howard family.
One Sierra wasn't enough for him to break ties with Eric.
He politely said: "Thank you, big brother."
Eric smiled lightly and picked up a magazine to read casually. His attitude seemed indifferent, and Linda's coquetry had no effect on him.
At four-thirty in the afternoon, Eric got up.
"I have something else to do. I'll go back first."
Naturally, his parents from the Howard family wanted him to stay for dinner since they rarely saw their son.
"Next time! I really have something important." Eric patted his sister's head before leaving.
As soon as he left, Roger also declined staying for dinner anymore.
Linda worried about making things difficult for him and took it upon herself to find excuses for him while sending him off affectionately at his car: "Don't mind my brother; he's always like this - not enthusiastic towards anyone."
Roger sneered silently. If he wasn’t enthusiastic towards anyone then what did Sierra mean?
Without saying much more words directly went into his car and followed behind Eric’s car from afar.
Eric looked back through the rearview mirror when holding onto steering wheel seeing Roger’s car following closely behind without any intention of shaking it off or speeding away.
Half an hour later, he picked up Sierra.
Sierra must have seen George Adler already because her eyes were noticeably red when she got into his car...
Eric wasn't a very attentive person, especially when it came to women. But at this moment, he asked gently: "Why are you crying like this after seeing someone? Do your eyes hurt?"
"I'm not crying." Sierra tried to cover up.
Eric smiled lightly and leaned over: "Is it because I'm going to bully you that you're crying already? I haven't even started yet."
Sierra turned her head away slightly.
Eric smiled again and started the car. He glanced back in the rearview mirror before driving off slowly.
It was rush hour, so there was some traffic on the road.
At a red light, Eric casually asked about George Adler's situation, and Sierra told him everything in detail.
"Did you bring everything with such a small suitcase?" Eric suddenly asked.
Sierra thought for a moment: "You don't have any ladies' slippers there; I want to buy a pair."
Eric made an affirmative sound.
He lowered the car window and lit up a cigarette while resting his elbow on the windowsill - enough for vehicles behind them to see.
The traffic moved slowly until they arrived near their apartment half an hour later.
Eric parked his car by the side of the road.
He unbuckled his seatbelt and said sideways to Sierra: "There's a home store across from here; go pick whatever you need while I go get some medicine from that pharmacy over there."
As he spoke, he took out a platinum card from his wallet and told Sierra its password.
"This is where we'll use for household expenses in future."
Sierra hesitated but didn’t refuse as she got out of the car and walked into that home store without knowing it was one of Eric’s neighbors’ favorite places to shop around which meant she might bump into them if she visited more often than usual.
After smoking down what remained of his cigarette butt, Eric opened his door and walked towards the pharmacy on the other side. He directly picked up two small square boxes with "L" marked on them from the counter.
He took out two 100-dollar bills naturally from his wallet and handed them to the cashier.
The cashier was a woman in her forties, who stared straight at him when she saw him. When scanning for payment, her heart fluttered as if she wanted Eric to use both of those products on herself...
Sorry Mr. Howard
