Chapter 46 Baby, Don't Regret!

"Mr. Adler and Olivia, you're just going to let them go? You're going to watch them go to jail?" Roger couldn't believe it.
Sierra didn't want to say too much. She simply said, "I won't be going back to your villa anymore. I'll mail the keys back to you."
Roger's heart sank. What made Sierra suddenly change her mind? He wanted to ask, but Sierra had already hung up the phone.
With a gloomy expression on his face, Roger called his secretary: "Find out what's been happening with George Adler."
The secretary immediately went to check and after five minutes she called back with a trembling voice: "Mr. Harris, George Adler has changed lawyers! I'll keep looking into it."
"No need!" Roger hung up the phone.
He decided he would personally visit the police station and see who had the courage to take on this case without his influence and what could be done about it?
Quickly opening his car door, Roger drove towards the police station. The wound on his waist hadn't healed yet; all of the bandages were stained red but he didn't care.
Twenty minutes later, Roger parked his car inside the police station. As soon as he got out of the car he saw someone being escorted out by others - Eric.
Eric was wearing an expensive suit that looked both handsome and dignified as he walked down step by step while several leaders accompanied him talking politely along their way.
Lucy was also there smiling: "Just leave us here! Thank you for everything this time around."
Those people were very gentle in their attitude towards Howard family's thin face; they wouldn’t dare offend them!
Eric knew how far he could push things so shook hands with each one before saying goodbye... After Eric left those people smiled at each other then one of them said: "The living Yama of the legal world, I saw him up close for the first time today. He's really damn handsome!"
Everyone else thought so too.
Being handsome, rich and having status - who wouldn't envy that?
Roger watched all this with tightly clenched fists.
It was Eric who took on this case!
He had specifically chosen a time when Eric wasn't in New York to make his move but he didn't expect him to come back early. Clearly, Eric wasn't that interested in Sierra; at most it was just a fling!
Roger couldn’t accept it.
He watched as the arrogant man walked towards him.
Surprisingly, Eric acted like nothing had happened and patted Roger's shoulder lightly while smiling faintly: "Linda told me you were injured and I wanted to check on you! Now that I see you're okay, I'm relieved... By the way, let's have lunch at my place."
Roger nodded expressionlessly.
Eric chuckled softly then lowered his head to light a cigarette before walking slowly towards his car.
The two men brushed past each other. Roger felt an overwhelming sense of pressure coming from Eric! From beginning to end he hadn't asked Sierra anything. There was no need because she followed Eric now...
After watching Eric drive away mechanically Roger pulled out his phone again and dialed Sierra’s number once more.
Through gritted teeth he said: "Sierra, you've got some nerve!"
On the other side of the line Sierra replied calmly: "Roger... How you treat me is how I'll treat you. Is there a problem?"
"No problem! Not even one!" Roger sneered coldly: "Just remember baby girl, don’t regret it!"
Sierra hung up directly after hearing those words.
At this moment her phone beeped twice indicating she received a message from Eric:
【Uncle has been transferred to Shiyou Hospital; you can bring the maid to visit him. After he recovers, he can go home.】
Sierra read and reread this message several times until tears blurred her vision.
Only now did she truly feel it... As if she had returned to the human world.
