Chapter 45 Roger, I changed my mind

Sierra also thought that this long dress suited her. She sat down and complimented Lucy: "Lucy has good taste."
Eric didn't say anything.
The maid Roti brought a Western breakfast over and apologized: "I didn't know Miss Adler was coming! Please make do with what we have today. If Miss Adler wants something specific, please let me know and I will prepare it for you tomorrow morning."
Sierra liked Chinese breakfast, but this was Eric's home and the maid was hired by him.
She had no reason to boss people around.
Sierra smiled lightly and said, "This is fine."
Roti breathed a sigh of relief: It seems she's easy to get along with. She rubbed her hands together and quickly went back into the kitchen to work.
Eric folded his newspaper.
He looked at Sierra who was drinking milk with lowered eyes. Coming from a middle-class family, she had refined manners that did not seem affected or pretentious.
Eric found her pleasing to the eye.
He was born more privileged than others, and as an adult he received countless advances from women due to his looks and abilities. Eric had high standards and was picky; while other men might like having naive little flowers by their side to satisfy their psychological needs, Eric wasn't one of them. The woman he chose must first be compatible with him in terms of personality traits; family background mattered greatly as well.
Eric liked Sierra's appearance and temperament very much.
In fact, he even wanted to live together with her.
Sierra didn't know any of this though. After drinking half a glass of milk she thought it best to inform him about something: "I lost all my other jobs except for Jiang Sheng's class tomorrow night."
Eric didn't object.
He asked indifferently, "You like playing piano so much? You played well when I heard you. Why didn't you continue your studies? Your family could afford it."
Sierra smiled faintly.
In fact, she had thought about it before. She had received an admission notice from a music school in the UK and even packed her bags, but Olivia strongly opposed it. She said that Sierra was the child she had raised with great difficulty and couldn't let her fly away like that.
Olivia never bore children of her own, so she had strong possessiveness towards Sierra.
After a month-long tug-of-war, Sierra stayed in New York.
Her teacher regretfully said to her: "Sierra, you are the most talented student I have ever seen. It's such a pity that you chose to teach instead of continuing your studies abroad."
Sierra felt there was no need to tell Eric all this; it was her own life after all.
Eric noticed something off about her expression just as he was about to say something; his phone rang.
It was a message from his father.
"Eric, Uncle Qiao has found clues regarding his daughter whom he has been searching for many years now. Please clear up some time for him when he returns from overseas."
His father also sent a picture along with the message.
It showed a pink diamond necklace.
Eric looked at it feeling familiar yet unable to recall where he'd seen it before.
Just then Lucy called him on the phone; he exited out of his photo album app.
Lucy worked efficiently and already arranged everything needed for George Adler's bail; they were just waiting for Eric's signature now.
He hung up and told Sierra, "I'm going to the police station. You wait here for me; we should be able to meet someone today."
Sierra thanked him gratefully and softly expressed her gratitude as Eric put on his coat and left gracefully. Sierra changed into shoes and saw him off downstairs where there was already a black luxury car waiting.
Lucy was standing by the car and greeted Sierra politely, "Miss Adler."
Sierra nodded back at her.
Eric opened the door and got in. He had good looks, manners, and a noble air about him that made him seem even more distinguished.
She watched Eric's car drive away before heading upstairs; just as she was about to go up, her phone rang.
It was Roger calling.
After thinking for a moment, Sierra answered with only a few words, "Roger, I changed my mind."

Sorry Mr. Howard
