Chapter 34: Roger, You Love Her!

Roger was still furious. He smashed his phone hard on the ground! His secretary was about to come in but stopped when she saw what had happened.
Mr. Harris had never been this angry before!
Standing amidst the mess he created, Roger said softly, "I'm going to see Sierra tomorrow!"
The secretary's face turned pale as she understood what he meant.
Meanwhile, Sierra kept her unemployment a secret from Olivia for now - too many things were happening at home and she didn't want to worry her daughter.
She couldn't sleep that night and kept thinking about the future. At one o'clock in the morning, Eric called but Sierra didn't answer; instead, she replied with a WhatsApp message:
"Olivia is asleep; I don't want to wake her up."
Eric replied within a minute: "I'll be back this Saturday. What gift does Miss Adler want?"
Sierra didn't know how to reply at first. She had already planned on leaving New York so naturally there wouldn't be much connection between them anymore. Moreover, she wasn’t someone who played around casually...
After hesitating for some time, Sierra finally sent him a message:"Mr. Howard, thank you for everything during this period of time."
It was such a simple sentence that its meaning could be easily understood -she no longer wanted any ambiguity between them. Eric was smart enough not to reply again.
This was exactly what Sierra wanted, but after making it clear, she felt somewhat lost... She couldn’t help but wonder if things would have been different if they met under different circumstances?
But then she laughed at herself – how could someone like Eric ever have a future with her? At most, it would just be an ephemeral relationship!
Sierra spent the whole night tossing and turning. When dawn broke, she got up early out of fear that Olivia might suspect something.
Just as she finished washing up, the door opened and Olivia walked in with a pale face and trembling lips: "Sierra, your father committed suicide in prison."
Sorry Mr. Howard
