CHAPTER 24

HE MUST DIE!
Ava's heart thudded in her chest and she could feel sweat trickling down her lower back. She could not believe that Witch Jezebel betrayed her. How could she do this to her yet she swore that she was her friend? Witch Jezebel had promised her that it was going to be a peaceful conversation between her and the Alpha. She made it clear that she was never going to harm the Alpha.

Ava regretted regaining her werewolf powers because it didn't mean anything compared to losing the love of her life. She did not want all this. She wanted Alpha Kane. He matters. All these other things don't matter.

After the bitter betrayal, Ava wanted revenge. She wanted to bring Alpha Kane to his knees, she did not want to get him killed.

Ava trembled in fear. She wished that they could kill her instead of him. She is the one who caused all this and it would be right if she is the one who pays the prize.

"Kill me! Kill me instead," Ava begged and witch Jezebel laughed ferociously, frightening her.

"Are you insane you stupid bitch?When I say that I want the Alpha, I want the Alpha. Only the Alpha. He must die because his dad aided in killing my sister!" Witch Jezebel yelled. He felt the pain of losing a sister all over again.

"No, he didn't," Alpha Kane defended his dad. His dad was a good Alpha. If he can be half the man that his dad is, then the pack is good.

"He didn't do it..." Ava tried to defend him but that is when Witch Jezebel lost it.

"Shut up! Both of you! You are not going to make me change my mind," Witch Jezebel shouted. She had also clocked Ava hence there was nothing that she could do at this point to save Alpha Kane. They were literally at her mercy.

"You don't have to defend me, Ava. You wanted this. This is what you wanted for me. Allow her to kill me because this will make you happy. " Alpha Kane said.

"No, please don't say that, my love. I love you. I love you baby. " Ava begged as tears gushed out of her eyes.

"Shut up! I won't repeat myself," Witch Jezebel ordered and a pin drop silence reverberated in the air.

"By the way, if I were you Ava, I would go back to the pack and become Luna. I gave you your werewolf powers, use them to get what you want. With these powers,you will be just like him. You will be the first in command!" People will respect you," Witch Jezebel tried to advise Ava.

Alpha Kane felt the pain of heart being stabbed over and over once more. He could not even contemplate the fact that Ava was not only a liar but a pretender. She should act in a movie by the way because she is such a great actor. How could she pretend that she loves him yet she was just fooling him?

"No, I don't want the werewolf powers if it means losing the love of my life. You can take them back. All that I want right now is for Alpha Kane to be safe and sound. I love him. I cannot lose him. He means so much to me. If you kill him then you will have to kill me too. I don't care about the stupid powers. Take them now and leave my man alone!" Ava cried.

"Don't tell me what to do. I have already decided," Witch Jezebel said.

She chanted a few words and a sword appeared on her hands. She moved closer to Alpha Kane who wanted to die so badly.

He was ready to die because how was he going to face the pack now that he is powerless. Also, apart from that, how will he heal from the fact that Ava wanted her killed? She betrayed him in a way that he did not expect.

Alpha Kane shut his eyes as he waited for Witch Jezebel to cut his head off. On the bright side, he was going to meet with his parents who left him at a very young age because Witch Jezebel killed them in cold blood, just like what she is about to do to her.

"Tell us your last words!," Witch Jezebel ordered.

Alpha Kane did not think hard about it because he had something in mind.

"I hate you Ava. I curse the day I met you!" He said this after swallowing a bitter lump at the back of his throat. His words tire Ava apart. She sobbed loudly as she fell on her knees and continued with it but Witch Jezebel didn't care . She lifted the well sharpened sword so as to cut his head.

It was such a short time for action but Ava felt strongly in her heart that she would be able to do something to stop all this.

She could not watch the man who meant so much to her be killed in front of her. This also reminded her of her parents and how Witch Jezebel murdered them on her watch. Her stomach churned and she could feel nauseated. She hates herself for being her friend and falling into her trap.

Alpha Kane's eyes were shut and his first were clenched and this broke Ava. She felt like her soul had been ripped apart.

She is the one who started all this and she could do anything to end it including taking her own life. There can never be Ava without Alpha Kane and vice versa. If he dies then she dies. If she lives then he lives.

Beta Ian sat on his sofa and thought about what Luna Cynthia had said to him. She promised him that he would be the Alpha if he agrees to avenge for how many times Alpha Kane humiliated him.

The strong desire to lead the pack and to make Alpha Kane pay for hurting him creeped up his mind and he could not control his lust for power.

He wanted to be the Alpha of Midnight Pack so badly. He wanted to be the first in command. He wanted it all.

Beta Ian made his decision to work with Luna Cynthia and he decided to go ahead and inform her.

When Beta Ian rejected her plan for revenge earlier on, Luna Cynthia felt that it was about time for her to leave the pack and disappear for good.

Finally when she felt wanted, everything went south for her. She had fought to be noticed by her parents too but they did not do that. For a reason they always favoured Ava because she was the special one.

Luna Cynthia lived with this rejection. And now...Luna Cynthia cried as she packed her things in her suitcase. She couldn't take it anymore. She is tired of living with the fear of Ava taking everything that should be hers like for instance now when she ran away with the Alpha.

Luna Cynthia wiped her tears away and made for the door. She sighed deeply before she opened the door. It was about time for her to get going. It was a lot for her but she had to do it for the sake of her healing.

Her mouth formed a perfect letter "o" when she found Beta Ian gracing the doorway.

"What do you want now? I thought that you already decided. You made it very clear that you did not want anything to do with me," Luna Cynthia said with a shaky voice.

Beta Ian ignored her question. His eyes were fixed on the suitcase that he was carrying.

"No, you can't leave," Beta Ian murmured when it hit him that Luna Cynthia had decided to give up everything and leave the pack.

"What is the point? There is nothing left for me here. My sister Aca took everything that rightfully belonged to me including you," Luna Cynthia said before choking on her sobs.

"No, I cannot allow you to go," Beta Ian started feeling sorry for her. He had not seen her feeling this type of hurt. She had never seen her crying so much . It was clear that she was going through a lot and she needed someone to tell her that everything was going to be fine.

"You hate me, don't you? Just let me go. I don't deserve to be here. Go after Ava. She is the woman that you love, " Luna Cynthia cried as she tried to push him away because he was blocking the way.

"Don't say that," Beta Ian said before he pulled her to a hug. He remembered those days when Luna Cynthia was happy. He genuinely wished that for her. He knows that he was the toxic one in the relationship and he should not have felt bad when Luna Cynthia thought that she would have a happily-ever-after with Alpha Kane, well, before he dumped her for Ava.

Luna Cynthia cried even more when she felt the warmth of his embrace. Instantly, the deep love that she once felt for him resurfaced. She wanted to kiss him so badly but Beta Ian emphasised the need of them talking about everything that had happened and also talk about their future.

"Well, I know you are wondering why I am here. Well, I am here because I came to say yes to your deal. I want to be the Alpha. Alpha Kane does not deserve it. That title should be mine," Beta Ian confessed and Luna Cynthia found herself smiling. This is what she had wanted to hear for her to stay.

With Beta Ian by her side,she was never going to give up being the Luna of Midnight pack. Ava might have taken the Alpha from her but she cannot make her a commoner. She is Luna and she is not going to give up her position. If Ava claims it then it will result in a war.

"Are you sure about this?" She inquired.

" I am so sure," Beta Ian said without blinking.

"I think we have a deal then. Deal?" Luna Cynthia asked.

"Deal," Beta Ian said and they made a pact, each of them smiling at each other.
