CHAPTER. 36

CALL FOR A WAR.
Ava pierced the eerie silence with a blood curdling scream that carried all her sad emotions. The sad reality was that someone killed her sister. She tried pressing her chest but nothing was working. Her head was separate from her body for goodness sake.

Alpha Kane who had left her at it was shocked to hear her scream. Instantly he heard the scream, he ran into the house and that is when he got to know that witch Jezebel had been killed by an unknown person when they were away.

Someone had chopped off her head, killing her instantly. Alpha Kane was petrified, even if this is what he wanted eventually, he did not expect it to happen, now! She was okay just a few minutes ago.

Seeing Ava crying and moaning for her sister made him feel sorry for her. He wished that there was a way for him to take some of her pain away to make her feel better. Ava did not deserve to be in pain. She has been through so much already.

Ava gripped on Jez's body as she cried, hoping that she would wake up and that was when Alpha Kane decided to intervene. He held her from behind and tried to embrace her tightly but Ava pushed him away. She did not want him near her.

"Baby, I wish that we had not left. I wish that we had stayed. You don't know how much sadness I feel knowing that we left her alone then this happened," Alpha Kane apologized but this pissed Ava even more.

Her sister had been killed because of him. He is the cause of all this. He should never have come back and asked her out.

"You got what you wanted, didn't you? Stop with the pretence. We both know that you are happy because she is dead . You can leave now, your mission is accomplished." Ava said as more tears fell from her eyes.

At this point, the intensity of the pain that she was feeling was unexplainable. It felt like someone had dried cement over her chest because it felt so heavy and painful.

She missed her sister. She wanted her to come back to her right away. She wanted her to teach her more about spells just as she had offered.

"Baby, don't say that. I did not want her to get killed. I did not ask you to go away with me so that they could kill her. This was purely a bad coincidence," Alpha Kane explained himself.

" Don't lie to me. It is crystal clear that this is what you wanted. This was the payback that you wanted now that I betrayed you by forcing the two of you to meet up. I hope that it makes you happy to see me in this level of pain. " Ava blurted out in a shaky voice.

"I swear to you Ava. The moon goddess is my witness. I never intended for this to occur. I am sorry that it has," Alpha Kane swore.

"I don't believe you. I don't believe anything that comes from your mouth. You have done so much to hurt me and you normally cover it with your many lies. Jez was my sister. She was just starting a new page in her life when you and your men decided to murder her!" Ava found herself blaming Alpha Kane.

"Stop it, you are hurting my feelings. I thought that you trusted me. You said that you loved and trusted me," Alpha Kane countered. He could feel constant bitterness tasting at the back of his throat.

"I never will. You have not only betrayed me but you also destroyed someone's life. This someone was my sister. She never wanted me to be with you and now I get it. You are the most selfish man that I have ever met," Ava said.

"Really? Am I to blame for all this. I didn't do anything Ava," Alpha Kane cried.

"I know you had something to do with this. This cannot be a coincidence. To pay my sister the respect that deserves, I have to end things with you. I was so stupid to be swayed by the deep love that I thought I felt for you. " Ava said and Alpha Kane could feel his heart shattering and bringing him so much pain.

"Why Ava? Why?" Alpha Kane cried in bitterness.

"I regret falling in love with you. I regret being with you because you have only brought so much pain in my life. I hate you. I wish that I had stayed in town. Besides, I had found a caring person who even kissed me," Ava confessed and this made Alpha Kane feel as if he had been stabbed with a dagger. He felt so betrayed. He had come back to solve things between the two of them but now Ava wants nothing to do with him yet he did not kill Witch Jezebel.

"You know what, stop it! She deserves to die, doesn't she? She killed our parents and took our werewolf powers. There are consequences for all actions. You can cry all you want but remember, the wages of sin is death!" Alpha Kane lost it and shouted at her.

Ava could not believe that Alpha Kane could do this.

"So you did it, didn't you?" Ava asked with a shaky voice.

"If the person who killed her would not have done it, then I would have ended up doing it. She deserves it!" Alpha Kane said in anger and Ava knew that she had heard enough from him.

"Leave!" She said through gritted teeth.

"Heck, I am sorry. You made me angry and that…" Alpha Kane could not complete his statement before Ava interrupted.

"I said, leave!' She repeated with a more firm voice and Alpha Kane did not have any other choice other than leaving her by herself. The moment Alpha Kane walked out of the door, Ava went to her knees and continued to mourn her sister.

Her body is shaking and she is sweating. She never learnt to cry in style. She allows mucus to fall from her nose as she keeps on crying. She could feel a constant hole in her heart that was left by her death. She wondered who was going to fix it.

Ava wished that she had listened to her instincts and come back home when she felt her sister call her. If she did then none of this would have happened. Her sister would still be alive. Despite her blaming Alpha Kane, she was partly to blame for what happened. She should have maintained her decision to come home. She should not have allowed her answer to be swayed.

As she lay there not knowing what to do next, Ava thought about what Alpha Kane said. Even if Jez was her sister, she had done so many hurtful things. She was going to die anyway.

Maybe she should cling to the few memories that the two of them shared.

It hit her that she had hurt Alpha Kane by pinning the blame on him. She was just angry and in so much pain and that is why she said what she said.

She rushed outside to try and apologize but he was nowhere to be seen. Ava was keen not to leave the cave hence she went back in.

She sat by her bed and stared at her body. She told herself that Jez had died and she was not coming back.

The most that she can do is to honor her. She recalled the last thing that Jez told her and that is, she should practice magic.

She rushed to the furthest end of the cave where she had hidden the wand and took it. She also looked for her spell book. Although the first few pages were stained with her blood, the rest of the pages were okay.

Beside the spell books, there was another book talking about their origin and power as witches and Ava decided to immerse herself in it.

She wanted to know all about her identity as a witch.

As Alpha Kane walked away after Ava insisted, he tried to turn to his wolf but he was unable to do so.

He suddenly panicked. Who killed Witch Jezebel? He thought that it might be Luna Cynthia and Beta Ian but that was not the case. Could it be the other pack? Was their secret out that they could not be able to shift?

It is crystal clear that Luna Cynthia could not have killed Witch Jezebel before asking her to fix their powers. Something is not adding up.

Seems like the other pack knew that they lost their powers and therefore they killed Witch Jezebel to make them lose their powers forever. Now that they have killed her, they will attack them and take over their land because it is the best one in the region.

They have started a war.
