Chapter Four
Raleigh
"Wake up, sleepyhead!" Rowan shouts as he catapults himself over my body and onto the bed, landing right next to me and jostling me as he bounces around, chanting, "Get up! Get up! Get up!"
"What are you doing? Cut it out!" I groan, covering my face with my pillow as I try to ignore the pest that's still bouncing around, shaking the bed as I roll over, wanting nothing more than to go back to sleep.
"Nope! Can't cut it out. It will grow right back." He says, in his best Rafiki imitation.
After having grown up with the guy, I know that he won't leave me alone and will just keep on until I give in.
Growling in frustration, I sit up, throwing my legs over the side of the bed, and begin rubbing my tired eyes. He stands next to the bed, not budging, waiting for me to get up.
"I'm up. I'm up. You can go now!" I point at my door, trying to get my point across as I glare at my brother, but he just plants his hands on his hips and cocks an eyebrow giving me an *I'm not going anywhere, so you might as well just suck it up* look. With a huff of annoyance, I stalk over to my bathroom, slam the door behind me, and get to doing my business.
Ten minutes later, I walk out after having brushed both my hair and my teeth and step into my closet to change with some privacy since Rowan is *still* standing in my bedroom.
The whole time I've been getting ready, he's been humming and singing the words that he knows to the song that the stupid monkey sings while Simba is having a come-to-Jesus meeting with himself after running into Nala for the first time since he ran away from his pride.
"Would you please cut it out!" I plead, as I exit the closet and start heading down the stairs, having heard enough of him saying *Asante sana squash banana, Wewe nugu mimi hapana*.
And as if I could have predicted the next words out of his mouth, he states again, "Can't cut it out. It will grow right back. Hehehe."
"Creepy little monkey. Would you stop following me! Who are you?" I reply as if on cue.
Fully invested now, he returns, "The question is, who... are you?"
Rolling my eyes at not wanting to be the first to give up, I sigh just like Simba did and state, "I thought I knew, but now I'm not so sure."
As we enter the kitchen, Ryker butts in, taking over where Rowan is supposed to, "Well, I know who you are! Shh. Come here, it's a secret."
Following the scene, I walk closer to Ryker and he puts his hand to his mouth, dipping down to whisper in my ear as he begins to whisper, his voice becoming louder as he recites, "Asante sana Squash banana, Wiwi nugu Mi mi apana!"
I snort, laughing silently at the things that get us going, but then staying in character, reply, "Enough already! What's that supposed to mean, anyway?"
Deadpan, both Ryker and Rowan reply with, "It means you're a baboon... and I'm not."
Raising my eyebrow, I look at them as if they're insane and say, "I think you're a little confused."
This time it's Ryler who jumps in, "Wrong! I'm not the one who's confused. You don't even know who you are!"
Rolling my eyes, I cock my hip and plant my hand on my right hip and keep playing my part, "Oh, and I suppose you know?" I sass back.
"Sure do. You're Mufasa's boy!" All three of them practically growl the words in unison. I put my hand to my mouth, feigning shock as I take the three of them in and do my best to fight back a grin.
"Bye." Rowan says, bouncing into the room and singing, "Asante sana squash banana, Wewe nugu mimi hapana."
I fold over laughing, "You guys are idiots." I tell them when Ryker and Ryler both step in front of me with their arms opened up for a hug.
"We're the idiots?" Ryler asks, stepping back from my embrace with a bewildered look on his face, "You and Rowan are the ones who started it."
"Correction," I say, holding my finger up like Rafiki does just because I can't help myself, "Rowan started it. I just couldn't let him have the last word."
"And yet..." Rowan says from the other room, reminding me that he indeed did end up having the last word after all.
"What are you making me?" I ask, changing the subject and eyeing the lit oven, trying to discern the smell of whatever it is that is baking inside of it.
"It's a surprise," Ryler says, turning me away from the stove, but Ryker did bring you a cup of coffee and a banana nut muffin back from the bistro down the street.
"Aww," I gasp and put my hand to my chest, feigning disbelief, "You shouldn't have."
"I mean, if you don't want it I'd be happy to..." he starts to say, taking the bag off of the table.
"Don't you even *think* about it!" I snarl, snatching the bag from him, and then make my way into the living room, where I plop myself down on the couch next to Rowan who has a movie keyed up on the TV to watch.
"What are we watching?" I ask around a mouthful of the banana nut goodness.
He gives me the smile that has had so many girls dropping their panties for him, and I shove him, rolling my eyes. He waggles his eyebrows and then begins singing "Asante sana squash banana, Wewe nugu mimi hapana," once more.
"Are you serious?" I snort in laughter and end up choking on the bite of my muffin that I'd just swallowed.
"Shit!" He quickly puts his hand on my back and makes me bend over as he begins beating on my back with one hand and shoves my drink in my face with the other.
"Take a damn drink already!" He shouts when I continue choking on the piece of muffin that finally managed to make its way down.
"Maybe I would if you would stop beating me!" I retort, causing him to quickly pull his hands back.
"Shit!" He mutters, as the other two join us and he presses play for the movie to begin, making me, Ryker, and Ryler all three groan.
