Elena downplays Marsai’s tragedy?
Marsai’s POV
It definitely cannot be Fenrir. It can never be him. He wasn’t that nice. He would probably scare them away with his death glares before he considered letting either of them into his palace.
“It was Alpha Fenrir,” Leah said his name with disgust. That is my best friend! Knowing her as much as I did, I knew that she wanted to kill him for hurting me.
I didn’t even want to tell her how much the rest of the awful things he did to me before today. That would only fuel her anger and result in her getting in trouble with Fenrir. I couldn’t risk that happening.
“How did Fenrir let you in?” I asked, genuinely concerned and curious.
He was never nice. It was probably because he liked one of them, or trying to flirt with his old-fashioned ways. This thought instantly made me angry. Fuck Marsai! You needed to calm your nerves.
He wasn’t worth all the hate I was feeling for him. He deserved nothing from me! No way he will have my best friends… never! ever!.
“He was very okay. Didn’t look as macho as I expected him to.” Elena shrugged.
I wanted to laugh at her but that would be rude. He was macho, rude, aggressive, and disgusting. There was no way I would ever look at him another way. Period!
“What do you mean by that?”
“He didn’t look wicked… like the kind of man that would do all Rudolph said he did. He looked romantic and cute…” she let out a dreamy sigh.
Ha! I knew it. She was attracted to him. I wish there was a way I was going to tell her what a cruel man he was, but I knew they would get themselves in trouble with Fenrir if I did. Or Elena just won't believe me.
I was just going to let it slide. There was no way she would ever get him. I wasn’t going to allow that… not on Marsai Connor’s watch. I blinked my eyes at my thoughts…no, it's not like I wanted him or anything.
“You’re really lucky.” Elena sighed dreamily.
“What?” Leah and I both gasped.
She didn’t know what she was saying... at all. She looked at both of us like we had lost our minds, and she was spitting out facts. Elena has gotten worse from the last time I have seen her.
“Rudolph warned us about the monster Alpha that he would throw us in the dungeon if we made him angry. My legs were even shaking when I met him, but then we found him in the kitchen- cooking.” Elena explained.
That made me laugh inwardly. Fenrir…cooking… no way! Maybe it was another man that looked like Fenrir, but I knew that there was no way Fenrir could have been cooking in the kitchen.
I couldn’t even picture him that way. It wasn’t just something that wicked and cold man could ever do, not even for himself.
“You should be really lucky- you found a strong Alpha for yourself,” she continued. “At least even after your parents’ death, you have someone to protect you.” She added.
It felt like a stray bullet to my chest. No way she could have said that…. Wow. Does she think I’m lucky to be forcefully married to a man that murdered my parents? What the fuck was wrong with her head? Did the werewolves of the MoonBound pack diluted her brain or something?
It must definitely be the case because I can’t believe that Elena was emphasizing the favorable part of my tragedy. How was that supposed to be a good thing? The death of my parents? Or half the pack's death?
“What the fuck, Elena.” Leah stood up angrily from the bed.
Gosh… I just tried to settle things between them. It was all in vain. They were already fighting and it hadn’t even been a minute.
“Please leave.” Leah said in a cold voice.
I could see that she was barely containing her anger.
“What do you mean?” Elena frowned, and folded her arms.
“Apparently you have nothing good to say. We are here to give her emotional support, not tell her that the man that she is lucky that she is married to the man that destroyed her life.” Leah spat angrily.
Elena rolled her eyes, “I didn’t say anything wrong. I only told her she is lucky because she is married to Alpha Fenrir. After all, he is so powerful. She was always going to be under his protection.”
“So you mean if an Alpha kills our parents… and he forced you to marry him without your consent you will think you are lucky?”
I could see the look on her face that clearly meant she would. What? How did she get so bad? Goodness… she behaved so far away from earth.
Like she lived in one of those books she read about unreal princesses and their Alphas in shining armor. Elena needs to wake up! Life was different from all she read in those novels. I have first-hand experience with it.
“I mean… I won’t complain.” She shrugged. Wow…
“Then you should leave since you don’t have anything good to say.” Leah came back to the bed, her face holding nothing but ire towards her twin sister.
It was something I hated… seeing them at each other’s throats. I didn’t want it happening because of me now. If only I could stop it, but what Elena said was wrong. It made me feel like I was at fault here.
Like I was supposed to embrace the fact that Fenrir had come into my life and destroyed it. How dare she make me feel like that? That’s right… I didn’t want to see her again. I wanted her to leave.
How could she say that to me? I didn’t ask for any of this.
“What?” Elena muttered when our eyes met.
“This wasn’t how today was planned. We are supposed to be here for our best friend not fighting. If you don’t have anything good to say, you should leave, please.” That was all I wanted to say to her too. I didn’t want her here when all she did was make me feel worse about myself.
“Alright then.” Elena nodded, and stood up to leave.
She looked between us, a neutral expression sketched on her face before she whirled her heels, and was about to leave the room when a knock stopped her in her tracks.
Fuck… let it not be Fenrir please! I didn’t want to see even his shadow, not to talk of him…
