Treason

Fenrir's POV

Deep breaths Fenrir, deep breaths. Just take…no…no

"What?!" I bellowed menacingly.

What? Does that mean that Marsai had already found her, no, No!

"Who is he?" I asked angrily, the anger building up in me even more. "Who the fuck is he?!"

I saw Elena flinch at my voice but I did not care! I was too annoyed, I mean how? Was it Rudolph? It couldn't be…cause heavens know I will wipe him from existence if it is!

I stared at his sister who looked rather terrified and that angered me the more, "Are you deaf, you moron?" I snapped angrily, "I asked you a bloody question"

She fell to her knees, quivering, "I…I don't know, Alpha…I don't know."

I sighed deeply, taking a deep breath which of course did nothing to ease the hot anger flowing through me. Should I be this angry? Or am I mistaking the emotion for…fear? Fear that she would have a reason to leave with another man, a man destined to be her soulmate.

Sigh

"Where is she?" I tried to keep my voice even but it was no avail, my calm and collected persona was cracking up.

"The dungeon, Milord," Elena gulped.

Wait! The dungeon??

My anger was instant and I could feel it, I swear I felt like hot lead was currently making its way through my veins, intensifying my anger.

I bit my lips, because I didn't want to growl not at the moment because there would be blood.

I had actually forgotten that Elena mentioned earlier that Marsai had gone to the dungeon to see that old bitch who tried to force nonsense into her head!

I don't know how I simply ignored that when Elena was talking earlier…argh!

I didn't bother with a coat even if it was obviously freezing outside this room. I went straight for the door, grabbing its handle before I paused, I turned halfway around to see Elena who had gotten off the floor and was arranging her dress.

"Elena," I called, my voice feeling hoarser than usual.

"Milord?" She answered, taking a step forward.

"Go home," I command without second thoughts before closing the door behind me.

As I walked quickly down the halls, I noticed it was as cold as I had thought it would be, the little lanterns by the side of the wall were doing nothing to help, but all that didn't concern me at the moment, not the cold nor anything. The anger I felt warmed me up.

I couldn't believe that Marsai would still go back to meet that woman! And what the fuck was she doing out of bed anyway??

She had been unconscious for hours, she needed rest, she should be recuperating instead of pissing me off.

Argggh, Marsai what will I do with you?

I walked briskly to the entrance of the dungeon, ignoring the bows and greetings from the guards stationed there. A few steps further into the dungeon, my feet involuntarily stopped, just at the sound of her voice.

"I just found out…" I heard her say in that silky voice.

“Found out what, dear?" The Elder Fiona asked. Dear? Dear?? That old hag has no respect and Marsai is just being modest. Does she not know she is in the presence of her Queen? Her Luna?? Ugh, I ought to—

"That Fenrir is my mate."

-huh? Wait….what?

At this point, I just stood frozen, unsure of what to do. Did Marsai just say I was Marsai's mate? Her mate? What?

Should I laugh or just go in there and throw myself on that goddess? Because I really don't know how to react right now.

The relief, the…the satisfaction…the happiness felt like a huge relief to me.

"Wait, really?" Elder Fiona asked. Seemed the old hag was surprised as well. Well, she should be!

The old bitch was planning to push ideas into Marsai's head, probably telling her to run away with her mate. Well too bad! I'm her mate and if there was anyone she would be running away with, it would be me! And we will both run back here to Crescent Moon!

"Yes, Fenrir is really my mate."

Yes, I am! I'm your mate, your one and only…

"So…what are you going to do now?"

She's gonna accept me…she's going to have no choice but to accept her one true mate! Marsai is going to—

"Reject him" her voice echoed. Yeah, she's going to…to…wait, what?

Did she just say reject? I must have heard wrong.

"I'm going to reject Alpha Fenrir, as my mate"

Oh…no…OH FUCK NO!

Marsai's POV

I started to run. My feet making contact with the cold hallway floor. I'd been wearing shoes but they were quite thin and I had no stockings on. That didn't quite bother me though, my mind was somewhere else, as I continued to run in the direction of the dungeon. I hope with all I own that, that poor woman isn't struggling with her last breath or worse….dead.

I couldn't stop the guilt from eating through me, because this was nobody's fault but mine. I had dragged this woman into my mess and all she ever wanted was to help me…help me escape this nightmare I was cursed with.

"Good day, Luna Marsai." the Guardsmen at the entrance of the dungeon greeted. But I didn't have the time or the right frame of mind to respond, as I walked past, running through the empty cells, checking each one until I found the one with her inside.

"Elder…Elder Fiona?" What the….I thought she was in danger. My brows furrowed.

I paused momentarily, catching my breath as I looked at the woman standing behind bars in front of me. I had thought as I ran here, that Elder Fiona would be half dead by now, she'd probably lost her limbs, they would have been basically torn or ripped off her joints but no….none of that seemed to have taken place. She was standing there, in a flowing green dress and a shawl on her round shoulders.

I walked gingerly to her as she beckoned me with a little smile, "Elder Fiona, are you okay?" I asked in a low tone, as I grabbed the iron bars and looked at her in slight worry. She placed her wrinkly hands over mine and smiled again.

"I'm fine," she said.

"How…how did this happen?" I didn't ask why because I already know the reason but then…how?

"I was at home with my youngest grand pup, I was picking winter berries with him when the guards came and told me I was under arrest,"

I looked into her weak eyes, guilt already eating through me, "What charge did they have against you?" My voice was as low as a whisper this time, which was unintended but Elder Fiona did not comment on it.

I started to see the uneasiness creep into the little woman's face as she struggled to answer, "I was charged with treason."

I gasped hard, feeling the cold air enter my lungs sharply. Oh…no

"Treason?" I asked in shock, “But you did not commit treason, you didn't even do anything!"
